As I've learned to expect, a beautifully written and fun read. Eason writes wonderfully believable stories with flawed but truly good heroes and heroines

Justice Mission
True Blue K-9 Unit series #1
Lynette Eason

Sophie Walters is a target after she witnesses a stranger messing with Chief Jordan Jameson's K-9 graduation notes. But why said stranger would feel the need to kidnap her and when that fails to silence her forever is a question that NYPD Luke Hathaway is determined to find the answer to.

Soon the entire K-9 unit and the NYPD force is looking for Chief Jameson and his K-9 partner Snapper. But as time creeps by Sophie and her personal protector Luke (with his K-9 partner Bruno) begin to fear that finding the Chief alive and unharmed is becoming less likely.

Now anyone who has Lynette Eason in the past knows that she is well able to spin a well-crafted suspense-filled read. Well, Justice Mission is no exception and as this is the first book in the True Blue K-9 Unit series don't expect to have the case wrapped up in this book. The basic story that deals with Sophie and Luke does come to a satisfying conclusion - and if you want a hint just remember that this is Love Inspired Suspense. Sophie, Luke, and Bruno aren't the only members of the unit one is introduced to - there is Chief Jameson's brothers, his wife Kate, and several others including a special some-to-be new member of the canine variety that is about to surprise them all. Get ready to add 9 books to your to-be-read (TBR) pile because this will be one series that I suspect you'll not be able to stop at just one.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I offer my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

The start to a new multi-author suspense series, Justice Mission kept me on my figurative toes. It was a fun story to read (even though I didn’t get all the answers I wanted).

With a missing boss, an attempted kidnapping, and lurking danger, Sophie Walters and Luke Hathaway have a lot on their plate. As they work together, in pursuit of justice, naturally, their story fills with action, mystery, suspense, and romance, of course. The pair is easy to cheer on through it all.

This book definitely left me eager to pick up the next one, Act of Valor. In the meantime, if you’re in need of a quick, sweet, suspenseful story, Justice Mission could be perfect for you.

A storyline that was both unexpected and exciting, unfortunately it left too much unresolved for me to have a totally satisfying ending. There were also minor technical points I had to work to ignore. But I did enjoy the read and would definitely request other books in the series just in the hopes the lingering questions would be answered.

Justice Mission was a nice one-time read. I loved the K-9 aspect and how brilliant the dogs were. The mystery was okay, but not very memorable.

I didn't care all that much about the romance and I had a difficult time connecting to the characters. I felt like the story had moments that were just not very believable (at least to me).

All in all, I liked the book, but it is not something I plan on rereading.

Title: Justice Mission

Author: Lynette Eason

Series: True Blue K-9 Unit book 1

Pages: 224

Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense/ Christian suspense

Rating: 4 stars

Justice Mission is the first book in the True Blue K-9 Unit a series of books about different officers in the K-9 that do have a long term case that gets built upon through book and the rest of the series. So it is best to read the series in order. Like most books in the Love inspired suspense imprint these books are fairly short a little over two hundred pages. In this first one administrative assistant Sophie Walters becomes a kidnapped victim because she something she shouldn't have. And lends the team discover one of them has been murdered And it's up to NYPD Officer Luke Hathaway to rescue her but then it turns into him and his K-9 partner on guard duty.

I enjoyed this book and seeing a fictional account of a K-9 unit and let's face it those K-9's are the unsung heroes of most police departments and in this book Luke's dog is a main character all on his alone and I loved that. Bruno is a German shepherd and even though he's a police dog who spends a lot of time working he still has German Shepherd qualities that you would find in most German shepherds. Part of the story wraps up neatly at the end of the book, but the murder and other parts of the story don't they will carry over into the other books in the series.

I look forward to the rest of the books in this series as well as other books by Lynette Eason, each book in this series is written by different author. This book and this series is great for fans of Christian Suspense and Christina Romantic Suspense. Fans of the author as well.

What an action packed introduction to this great romantic suspense series this proved to be - I thoroughly enjoyed it!

K-9 unit administrative assistant Sophie Walters spotted a stranger messing with items on the podium she had been setting up for the K-9 graduation ceremony. When he sees she's spotted him he kidnaps her, driving away. Fortunately she manages to escape, only to discover her boss is missing and a note purporting to have been written by him has been left on the podium. As the K-9 officers start the search for him, Sophie is guarded by Luke Hathaway and his K-9 partner, Bruno. This is the start of a dangerous investigation where it becomes clear that someone is out to silence Sophie. With multiple attempts to kidnap or kill her, Luke and Bruno are determined to thwart them and keep her safe. As the two get to know more about each other, they fight their developing feelings but sometimes love just has to conquer fear.

There are many great characters in this thrilling story, some are human and others are their K-9 partners. I found it an enthralling, engaging story that had me on the edge of my seat. I acknowledged initially that this is part of a series, so it isn't surprising that some things aren't concluded in this book. There's more to come and I'm really looking forward to reading future books  to discover what happens next! I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys K-9 team stories and romantic suspense.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

There is a lot going on in the first book in the True Blue K-9 Unit series--a disappearance and a kidnapping (of different people!), a manhunt, a mysterious death, possible in-unit drama (jealousy/drama over a promotion), and oh, yeah--a romance!--that at times it feels a bit overwhelming. The characters are solid, though, the suspense is adequately suspenseful, and the romance slow moving but sweet.

My only complaint is with the end--there is an HEA for Sophie and Luke, but another big plot point (who IS the real bad guy here?) won't be resolved until future series book(s). The plus side is this is a multi-author series, so if you need to know whodunit, you might not have to wait too long to find out...

A Kidnapping and A Disappearance

It’s graduation day for a new group of K-9 teams. Officer and dog have trained hard together. The Chief’s assistant, Sophie Walters, is determined that the ceremony goes smoothly. Being kidnapped was not on her agenda, nor was the disappearance of her boss, the chief of the K-9 unit.

Luke Hathaway and his dog are there with Sophie determined to find both the Chief and the kidnapper. Now someone is now stalking Sophie. Is it the same person? Is he after her because he is the man she saw or because of something she might have?

True Blue K-9 Unit Series

Lynette Eason has written an intriguing mystery that is the beginning of the “True Blue K-9 Unit series. Any sort of well trained working dog adds so much to a story, whether military, law enforcement, or other. The relationship they have with their handler–their alpha–is a unique and special bond. It always amazes me to read how connected the team can be. So I was prone to like this one before I started. It was a fast paced entertaining story that took off quickly and didn’t stop until the end.

Their hunt for the chief drives them.

It’s a good story, one that will keep you reading quickly to see how it ends. While the ending was satisfying, it did leave one person without a conclusion. Hopefully that will be resolved in the next book. The title of the second in the series is Act of Valor, featuring Zach and Violet. Naturally the rest of the K9 team will be there as well.

The mystery of the murder as well Sophie’s stalker drives the characters. The attraction between the Luke and Sophie was well portrayed as slowly developing as the two get to know each other.

There were only things that seemed surprising to me. With all the dogs connected to the story, I wondered why they weren’t used more in searching for the suspect. Though trained specifically for live search, drug sniffing, or cadaver finding, I assumed they would also be trained to protect. I kept expecting them to come to the rescue. That said, it won’t stop me from reading book two. I’ll look forward to more of both the highly trained dogs as well as their handlers.

This is book one in the new series True Blue K-9 Unit. What a great place to start. I enjoyed learning about many on the K-9 team and look forward to reading more from this series. If you enjoy contemporary, police, K-9, mysteries, suspenseful romance you will enjoy this book.

Sophie Walters is a civilian who works at the K-9 unit. She is a beautiful, loving person who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Luke Hathaway is the handsomeK-9 officer who happens to be in the right place at the right time and now must protect his heart while trying to protect Sophie.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I enjoyed reading this. An interesting story with fun characters. Well written.

I was caught up from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down to do other responsibilities. I don’t usually read police type stories but this some seemed different then the others. I liked all the characters especially Like and Sophie. I’m glad this is a series because I would be greatly disappointed about the book ending without finding the killer. I like how Lynette Eason weaves Bibical truth throughout the story. The reader can learn along with the characters and apply it to their own life.

I recommend this book to my family and friends.

I received this book from the publisher to read and give my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Justice Mission is a great start to the True Blue K-9 Unit series! With an intriguing mystery, a rapid-fire pace, and stakes that feel real, the book is completely captivating. I really enjoyed trying to figure out the identity of Sophie's kidnapper and his motivation ... and that leads me to my one real complaint about the novel. This is a series (each installment written by a different author), and the "bad guy" won't be revealed until later on in the series, which I didn't expect. So the end of this book feels incomplete, as the hunt for the bad guy will continue in later books. Had I known going in that the mystery wouldn't be resolved at the end of the book, I would've been OK with it, but I just found myself a bit annoyed to reach the end and unexpectedly find no resolution!

I also noticed a couple continuity errors; as I read an ARC, these errors may be fixed before the final version is released in April.

All that said, I really did enjoy the novel. For me, the best part (no contest) was a police officer's funeral. Of course, I've watched police funerals on TV and in movies, but I don't think I'd ever read about one before, and the "end of watch" had me basically sobbing into my Kindle.

I definitely would enjoy continuing this series—I need to know if I've correctly identified the killer! 3-1/2 stars.

I did not enjoy this one. I found the writing stilted and unnatural. I felt like people's reactions are off in certain events. Sophie was a doormat. Luke has emotional problems stemming from two places that effect their 'relationship' (can you call it that when they only know each other for a week or two?). Namely, his mother dying with his dad being awful and blaming him for it, followed his only serious girlfriend telling him he's not relationship material. The first one I can see messing with someone, but a girlfriend of not that long saying that...I don't believe it.

The ending... I do not understand how anyone can like the idea of someone only knowing someone else for something like 2 weeks or so (and I mean, finally actually talking to them and giving them the time of day) to proposing marriage. In only 2 weeks!!! And something like, two kisses. And the whole office coming out and cheering??? Seriously? I can not get my head around that one to enjoy it.

All in all I'm sad to report that Lynette Eason missed the mark on this one, in my opinion.

Another book by Lynette Eason that is a keeper. She weaves her story with such intrigue and romance to them. I can't wait to see whodonit.

This book had so much potential, and some parts were brilliantly done. There's plenty of action sequences to keep things moving, and the police officer's funeral was a stand out moment in the story. There are other things going on at the time, including officers watching for Sophie's stalker, but the funeral is the focus and it's a scene that is absolutely heartbreaking. That said, I did have some problems with this one. The biggest being the ending, and not because we don't get all the answers. I'm okay with that. What I don't get is why this guy in the hat was so hell bent on killing Sophie, and for me, the explanation at the end is sorely lacking. It seemed to me that he went through an awful lot to tie up a loose end who couldn't identify him any better than she did, especially when he gets repeatedly noticed only because of the hat! For all the action and intrigue, I just felt disappointed once our hatted villain finally gets to speak. The romance also falls into the problem category for me. I didn't buy this pair as a romantic couple. We're told throughout that there's an attraction, but Luke and Sophie go from work acquaintances to friends to crazy in love in a matter of days. I get that they've known each other a long time, but this is the first chance for them to really get to know each other. It's a bit too much like instalove for me. On a positive note, the story is clean with a passionate kiss being as racy as it gets, and I did like that faith and prayer plays a role in the characters' lives. In the end, the pros and cons were about equal for me, leaving me smack in the middle range. As I understand it, this series will be written by various authors with the continuing arc of who killed Jordan. Given my mixed feelings with this one, I'm still on the fence about whether or not I'll continue with the series.

The first in a new series of K-9 adventures!

When Sophie sees a strange man lurking at while she is setting up for the K-9 graduation. She questions the man and gets kidnapped, she escapes but now her boss is missing and someone is still after Sophie.

NYPD Luke Hathaway and his K-9 partner Bruno are on the case, Luke is determined to keep Sophie safe and uncover what is going on.

Sophie is very close to her family, she grew up fast, almost solely responsible for raising her younger brother after the death of their mother. She is very responsible and organized, she is a good friend and comforter in the wake of the turmoil.

Luke has been burned by love in the past, and has never really talked to Sophie before this happened. Luke is a fair man, consistently aloof, he doesn't like to get close to people. He has a strong bond with his dog, Bruno, struggles to break free of his own self-imposed rules.

Actioned-packed from the start, with great tension that had me not wanting to put it down, I almost read it in one sitting! I really liked Luke and Sophie, they get to know each other and work well as a team. They are a good example of opposites attracting, in the ways that they relate to people and are respected, and how they grow in their faith. This book sets up well for the rest of the series, and I can't wait to read the next installment!

This book. I knew I had to read it because of the author. Lynette Eason has been a favorite of mine for quite a few years.

The action begins from the first page. Sophie is finishing setup for a K9 grad, feels like someone is watching her, and when she finally spots this strange man...he pulls out a gun and threatens her, then grabs her. She does manage to escape, but now she must figure out why he wanted to kidnap her, and why he keeps chasing her.

Action, adventure, a hint of romance. And yes, the K9s...this dog element definitely gives this story an added sweetness.

I love the action and suspense!

As the start of a new multi-author series, Justice Mission introduced the world of the K-9 unit in New York City, delivering intense suspense and action, paired with emotional scenes, danger, even death, and a touch of romance on the side as well as adorable, caring canine companions.
The Love Inspired romantic suspense books have the three major elements that are expected to be present in each story: the suspense, the romance, and the faith in God the protagonist have. Some stories lay more heavily on one element than the other, and in some books, like in Justice Mission, the faith was more of an assumed part of the characters lives.
The suspense and mystery, the action that the investigation brought on, is vigorous, engaging the minds of the members of the unit, as well as mine, as the reader. The missing leader of the unit, and the family connections he had within the force, and in his personal life, as well as the threat to his assistant, Sophie Walters, brought sentimental, emotion-filled moments into the midst of the research into his disappearance. The case is not solved in this book, even though the immediate danger to Sophie is sorted out.
There are many tears throughout the tale while the unit is desperately looking for answers, but the funeral scene for a fallen cop had me sopping uncontrollably, as each vivid moments, with all the feels, were tangible in the air. The final call at the end of the service left an echo into my mind and heart, just a devastatingly sad yet honorable moment that will be hard to forget or walk away from.
I wish the chemistry between Sophie and NYPD officer Luke Hathaway would have been as palpable. They have an obvious connection, it is clear that they care for each other, and even that they are interested in each other, but the maudlin atmosphere of the investigation overpowers nearly everything else in the tale as the stage for the rest of the series is set.
I did enjoy getting to know everyone, and Sophie and Luke especially. They both have to do some soul searching to be able to open up for a relationship, and especially Luke's pondering was well documented while he fights against the budding attraction to a much younger (nine years, a problem to him, not to me) woman.
Justice Mission whet my appetite to the rest of the series that will keep unfolding each month for the rest of the year. The characters are intriguing, the interactions between them are arresting, and I am looking forward to getting to know them all better. The story is filled with emotions, from tangible fear and danger, sorrow and despair, to hope and love, and of course, spiced up with adorable canines from working K-9 four-legged officers to delightful puppies.
An effectively engaging and appealing start of a series filled with potent, deadly danger and harsh, rough action
