Interesting character and winding tale of the past never truly stays in the past. People try to change but secrets endure

Final Exam is the eighth book in the Witch City Mystery series. This is only the third one that I have read, and I can honestly say I feel this works well as a standalone. There is plenty of background information about the characters, so I did not feel as if I was left in the dark at any point.

While I enjoy cozy mysteries, many of them lack depth, but I didn’t feel as if that was true of this book. The author, Carol J. Perry does a very nice job of describing the characters. Even though I haven’t read many from this series, I feel as if I’ve gotten to know the characters, and I like them. This particular one is about a murder that happened many years before; the victim is Aunt Ibby’s high school boyfriend. Sadly, she thought he had disappeared, but that wasn’t the case.

Each of these mysteries has been neatly wrapped up by the end of the book.

Overall, this was an intriguing, well-written book.

This was an enjoyable book. Unfortunately I have not read earlier books in the series, but I was still able to follow along. I do plan on reading the others to hopefully get a little more backstory on the characters. The mystery involving the cold case was quite intriguing and kept me reading. The characters are very likeable. I see this series becoming one of my fav cozies.

This was another fun read in the ongoing WITCH CITY MYSTERY series. I continue to find Lee, a likable heroine. I also enjoy her continuing romance with Pete. Although...why are these two not living together yet?? (lol) Aunt Ibby and the cat O'Ryan continue to be great secondary characters. The mystery in this one was well laid out with some good twists and turns. However, I did figure out the "who done it" very early on, but the "why" and the "how" kept me guessing right up until the end.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Lee and company get up to next.

I enjoy this series because it takes place in Salem, MA. I enjoy the characters but I still wish Lee would embrace her gifts a little more by now. This one was not my favorite outing. It seems to go in a lot of different directions and then BAM, a quick finish.

Lee Barrett, field reporter for WICH-TV, is chasing a story about the recovery of a vintage Mustang from a rock quarry filled with water. Lee’s Aunt Ibby’s strange reaction to the speculation about a body being found in the vehicle creates a little tension between niece and aunt.

Turns out the vehicle belonged to Aunt Ibby’s high school boyfriend who mysteriously disappeared the night of the high school prom, effectively standing Aunt Ibby up for the dance.

Lee’s boyfriend, Pete Mondello is a police detective who tries to keep his enterprising girlfriend out of trouble. Problem is that Lee is a “scryer”, who sees things in shiny objects – things that have happened or are happening or may happen in the future. Her paranormal skill often provides clues relating the case at hand.

Carol Perry writes an engaging mystery with interesting characters and a well-conceived plot.

The eighth adventure in the Witch City Mystery series, Final Exam is a smartly paced, fun read.

High school reunions can be bad in so many ways but this one, well this one has murder before it even starts ! I admit to being a fan of this light, funny series with paranormal touches (watch O'Ryan the cat too). Lee and Aunt Ibby make a dynamic duo but this time, just when Lee thinks she's got a great breakthrough for her journalism career, it upsets Ibby to no end. It turns out the car dredged up is related to a cold case Lee's love interest Pete is working- and to Ibby. How do you solve a 45 year old murder? Well, it helps if you live in Salem and have, ahem, special powers. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A fun read.

I enjoyed this mystery. I had my suspicions on who did it, but I couldn't figure out why. I enjoy Lee & Pete's relationship and like that she can now share her visions with Pete. Their working together to solve this mystery was nice.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review. - This is a fun series.

Lee and Pete find each other working on the same mystery. Lee is a reporter and Pete is her cop boyfriend, and the relationship may or may not last through the investigation. Will they work together or will the case tear them apart? This was a fast paced book that was fun this read. Thank you for letting me read this book NetGalley.

Life at the house on Winter Street is abuzz with preparations for Aunt Ibby’s 45th high school reunion, and Lee Barrett is happy to pitch in, tracking down addresses and licking envelopes. But as a field reporter for Salem’s WICH-TV, her priority is to be on top of the town’s latest news before anyone else.

Aunt Ibby's 45th high school reunion is coming up, and it is her turn to host the committee at her place. Strange things start happening to the class of '74, including a long lost classmate showing up dead.
Another great installment in the witch city mysteries. Lee is investigating more and more much to the chagrin of Pete. Lee continues to grow as a character, however doing what she feels is right even if it is dangerous. She seems to be embracing her visions more, and is rewarded with a nice one even. The series is still going strong, now it's time to wait for the next one!

I really enjoyed this book. I like the fact that we’re getting more backstory for Aunt Ibby as well as exploring Lee’s new job as a field reporter. A solid series.

This series is one of my favourites, and this latest offering did not disappoint!
Aunt Ibby’s high school reunion planning coincides with the discovery of a vintage sports car containing human remains.
Long ago secrets, friendships and romances give this latest whodunit an engaging premise.
As always, this series is first rate, with great characters, a paranormal theme and intriguing whodunit.

I strongly recommend you read this series in order and I cannot wait to read the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

One of my most favorite cozy, ghosty series! Clever of Carol Perry to make Lee, an investigative reporter; it's always a pet peeve of mine when the average person sticks their noses in the middle of legit murder investigations and then wonder why no one wants to talk to them.

This latest installment involves a cold case that recently becomes hot and Lee finds her beloved Aunt Ibby at the middle of it all. An easy, entertaining read, that's absolutely worth picking up.

Thank you Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This series just keeps getting better and better, I hope it continues for a long time to come! Lee is everything you want in a main character, strong , smart, engaging, and relentless. This mystery had me so concerned one of my favorite characters did a bad bad thing, which honestly made me like this book even more. This series is truly standing the test of time.

So glad to get back to Lee and Salem. This installment doesn’t disappoint, it’s a wonderful addition to the series. I really enjoyed seeing into the Aunts past and finding out more about her. Would have loved to see the scrapbook in real life.

Final Exam is another great mystery in the Witch City mystery series by Carol J. Perry. I always look forward to new books in this series,  mostly because I really love the characters, Lee, Aunt Ibby, and their cat, O'Ryan. There's nothing about those characters that I don't like. I love how the author articulates O'Ryan's personality because it is so accurate for a cat. The murder mystery in this book kept me interested and so did all of the aspects that weren't part of the murder mystery. I hope we get to see more of Aunt Ibby's friends from high school in future books. They are definitely characters I want to learn more about. I can't wait for the next book in this series to see what's next for Lee, Aunt Ibby, and everyone else.

Note: I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my fair and honest opinion.

Another wonderful installment of Lee and O'Ryan and company. Having read her previous books this one continued with the interesting characters and a good solid mystery. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a paranormal tofu try this series, it's worthwhile. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

The eight book in the witches city series finds Lee Barrett and Francine tracking the field of grasses and other weeds to an old quarry as they have a tip of Police activity at the quarry. They find underwater divers present and learned there that an old rooster has been located about 100 feet down on a ledge. There is a skeleton in the car. Lee is excited as she has an exclusive. Her boyfriend and Aunt Ibby have very different reactions to the news. Aunt Ibby is planning her high school 45th reunion with a group of her classmates. Lee has visions of what happened at the quarry. O'Ryan begins to show Lee places and actions she needs to do. A great deal of her Aunt's past comes to light along with Lee's Mother. Who was the skeleton? Why was the car pushed into the quarry? I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.
