This was a great start to a new series! Lacey and Théo's story of two strangers marrying in Vegas and falling in love as they got to know each other, was far-fetched, but somehow worked. Their motivations and feelings were plausible and the pacing of the evolution of their feelings was just right. Both characters were very likable and the interactions had me smiling and even outright laughing throughout the book. I am charmed by this very messy, very imperfect family and looking forward to discovering PJ's story next.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Play to Win is a wonderful start to Kelly Jamieson's new series. Theo and Lacey have their own obstacles to overcome but find that it is easier to do when they work together. What starts off as a sham marriage ends up being so much more when their true feelings come out. They have such wonderful chemistry together and are each others biggest supports. The Wynn family is full of drama and chaos that you just can't help but love. I can't wait to find out what happens next to this family.

I love the start of this new series by Kelly!
Meet Theo` Wynn, had to cut his NHL career short because of an eye injury, and is currently taking a position with his Grandfathers team the LA Condors, leaving the Vegas team behind. He's an analytical kind of guy, numbers don't lie, and he's going to build this team by following not only the numbers but his gut too. When he's out celebrating with friends in Vegas on his last night there, he's taken with the waitress, Lacey Olsen that's working at the club, and when he see's she is in some danger, he makes her a proposition that she can't refuse.
Follow their story as these two navigate their move to LA. 5 hockey pucks for this one! Grab it asap!

The first of the Wynn Hockey series, and this was so good!! Lacey's stuck in a bit of a bad place, her brother is a d-bag that stole her last dime and now the people he owes money to are coming after Lacey for payment. Theo is celebrating his new job, a job that has him moving back to California where his crazy family are, where his girlfriend stealing brother is. After saving Lacey from the goons that are after her brother, Theo pulls Lacey into the celebration with him and the two end up having an amazing night, one filled with booze, jumping in pools fully dressed, and getting married. The plan is simple, Theo helps keep Lacey safe by taking her to Cali with him, in turn she helps by making it look like he has moved on from the ex-girlfriend. What happens when feelings start getting involved? Will the two be able to keep up this fake relationship even though it's getting very real?
I really enjoyed this story! With funny moments, like seriously some laugh out loud moments, loads of drama, and some really steamy hot naughty bits. The Wynn has some issues that are going to rival a soap opera, and I am excited to see that soap opera play out. Lacey and Theo's story was entertaining and I give it 4 stars.

I really liked this book and excited for this series.
This book introduces us to the Wynn Dynasty book one was a great introduction to the family and the drama!
Theo a GM of a hockey team that belongs to his grandfather, a rival team of his father's is only one of the families interesting relationships. He is leaving Vegas for a new opportunity in California and is out for one last night with his tea in Vegas.... when he meets Lacey Olson who has her own family drama.
A night out for Theo is a night happens to be the night Lacey loses her job. Although their interactions have been for only one evening, Theo feels something for Lacey and wants to protect her from the trouble he seems to understand is bigger than even her understands.
A few drinks= a friendly marriage to help Theo move back home, and protect Lacey....once they arrive in LA, Theo sees they are very different, but he welcomes their relationship. Lacey sees him in a different light and wants more than she know he is looking for.
There are sparks and interest, add in a little family drama and you just never know what will happen with love.
I loved this book and looking forward to book 2!

4 star
I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, laughs, naughty fun, and heartbreak.
This is Lacey and Theo’s story. Theo is out to prove to everyone including his family that he is just a successful even after being injured and not being able to play hockey anymore. Now he is the general manager of his grandfather’s NHL team. He has everything he need except a woman to share his success. Theo meets Lacey when he rescues her. A few drinks, some conversation, and a quickie wedding and he is taking her home with him. It was supposed to be all for show but what happens when they start falling? Theo is in big trouble because he only plays to win and if he wants her, he is going to win her over. Is she ready for that? He’s into a well-ordered life and she is making him live. Can she loosen him up?
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I recommend this book.

This was a great read. I have enjoyed every book that I have read by Kelly Jamieson. Another title of hers that I would recommend would be “Jilted”.

Play to Win is the first in a new hockey dynasty series by Kelly Jamieson. It has everything I'd usually like in a romance novel, a Vegas marriage to a stranger, convoluted family issues, a mansion on the beach. Unfortunately you could really tell this was going to be a big series and it was to the books detriment. There were too many backstories, too many characters and not enough character development. I think this will be one of those series that works themselves out by book number three.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book for an honest review!
So in love with is. Of course I’m a huge fan of people getting married on the fly and falling in love against all odds.
I was in love with the characters straight away and dealing with their perspective families was hilarious. I wanted evil Emma t9 get her due. Like I wanted to hear the nitty gritty of everything com8ng to a head with her.
Taylor and Bryon, how can a girl get better friends then someone with a dog. Lol! I’m a sap for animals. But there relationship is great and the support she gets from Taylor is perfect.
The book wasn’t too long at all in fact I wanted an Epilogue with babies!
Jp’s relationship with his brother...those are fragile things and even if you think your sibling is better hold on to it. They can be your best friend or worst enemy and we see both side of the coin here.
Theo and Lacey are completely adorable and they have the best sort of fun!
I will be looking for more from this author!

This is a brand new series from Kelly Jamieson though I'm not as well read from her I like her writing and characters. This focuses on the Wynn Dynasty a hockey family through in through, with owners, players, coaches just generally involved in the sport. That is an interesting concept, it involves a lot of new names to intro and backgrounds for the future books. With some family drama and issues along the way, intriguing family dynamics that fuel part of who Theo is. Lacey has her own family issues.
I gotta say I loved that this was more on the management side of hockey, sports romance is general are more focused on the players and game play. So having Theo as a general manager was great, all the trades, drafts, managing and behind the scenes. The author knows her hockey which is good for fans. Theo wants to rebuild and change things with the Condors, he's statistician but trade and focuses on that. I think it's pretty brilliant to look at stats how to manage a team and playing he thought process was smart.
Theo and Lacey started out unusual with a Vegas wedding to help Lacey escape a mob her brother owes money from and all that. They are both different one is rigid and a planner, the other more carefree and light. It's a nice balance. But they get along well, the sexual tension is there but they don't act on it. They are married friends without benefits till tthe sparks become so overheated. They have the physical down pat now is the emotional aspect. Lacey helps calm Theo and appreciates him, Theo makes Lacey feel cherished which is also good.
With Theo having burned before he can often have a one track mind and with him trying to prove himself in his new job he forgets what's more important. He'll have to step it up if he doesn't wanna lose Lacey for good. This was s great start to this hockey family! So curious on what happens next or who will end up with who. I'm sure we will see more of Theo and Lacey is the upcoming books. I enjoyed this one a lot, lots behind the scenes hockey and a heartfelt romance.

This will be a great series! I can always tell by the foundation the author lays in the first book and this side of the family of hockey dysfunction will be great! Super fun Vegas wedding that leads to true love with some realistic family drama on both sides (one on the expensive side of the track, the other not). These two are just what the other needed and you'll find yourself pulling for them through the whole read!

This book was a light easy read. Lacey the heroine was fun and laid back against the OCD Theo. The chemistry through the pages was well written. Love this new series.

You'll definitely win with this one!
Play to win is the first in Kelly Jamieson's Wynn hockey series. I have a been a big fan of her other hockey series - Ace hockey series and the Bayard hockey series and this is a nice compliment to those novels
It was a sweet, sassy and sexy read that starts out as a marriage of convenience and turns into something more but not without challenges and obstacles along the way.
Theo and Lacey have a beautiful chemistry together that compliment each other even when things get complicated. Also along the way the reader gets introduced to the rest of the Wynn family and I can't wait to see what developments come from that bunch as the series progresses.
A truly entertaining and enjoyable read not to be passed up!!!

Ohhh. What a complicated bunch the Wynn family is. So many relationships--she said, he said, back stabbing, hurt feelings, divorce, and overall love. Wow what a way to introduce a series! Theo's Wynn is a hot ex-hockey geek and he has no time for women. But he does has a soft heart. So when he sees Lacy in a bind, they enter into an agreement that helps her out and helps him distract his nosey family for as long as necessary.
This is a slow burn strangers to friends to lovers story. It gets messy and tangled but ends up just perfect. This author writes some great hockey stories. This one is the back story and behind the scenes of the hockey world but I suspect we will see some of Theo team and family in action real soon.
Can't wait to read more!

When Lacey left home for work, she had no plans to get married and move to California, but that is exactly what she did.
Théo and Lacey have their own reasons for getting (fake) married but living together and pretending for everyone around you to be in love, soon blurs the line between fake and real.
I enjoyed reading Play to Win and found Lacey and Théo to be wonderful characters. They both complement each other, with Theo being a little stoic and rigid, and Lacey being fun and spontaneous, they are a perfect match and their chemistry is undeniably hot.
If play to win is anything to go by, I think the new series has a potential to be a highly enjoyable read.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed the arc from Netgalley.

Talk about family dynamics! The feud between Theo’s father, uncle & grandfather keeps getting bigger. Now his grandfather wants to hire him to manage the hockey team he owns that is in direct competition with the team Theo’s father owns & brother manages. Theo wants to prove himself to the family & enact a little revenge against the brother that betrayed him. His grandfather gives him the chance. Now he just needs the lovely lady on his arm. At his going away party, he meets the One.
Lacey can’t take much more. Every time she starts to get ahead, her brother drags her down. Now he’s not only taken what little money she has, he’s put her in danger. Now she’s on the way out of town to protect herself - married to Theo. What has she done?
I really enjoyed Theo & Lacey. The chemistry between them was easy to pick up & they have a great relationship. The dynamic between them changes between the fun & witty banter of friends to the tense & sexy vibe of lovers. The family dynamics between Theo, his grandfather & the rest of the family reminds me of the battles in any family. There still is an underlying love & affection that ends up battling the hurt, pride & loss. Great story!

Kelly Jamieson is one of my go-to authors for hockey romance. I thoroughly enjoyed her Aces series and was sad to see it end, but was thrilled to see she was going to be releasing a new Wynn Hockey series. Well, suffice it to say, I absolutely LOVED this book!
Theo and Lacey are a great couple. There's something about a fake marriage/relationship story that, when done well, can be just great to read. Sometimes there’s forced proximity, sometimes they have undertones of enemies-to-lovers, which can be fun, but in this case, I just liked how Lacey and Theo were with each other. What can I say? They were just cute.
Both had some pretty serious hangups due to their pasts, but they just worked really well with each other. Of course its obvious to the reader that they're falling for each other, and soon it's also clear to Lacey, but Theo's a bit of a harder nut to crack. Queue the requisite "relationship obstacle" at ~80% but never fear, Theo redeemed himself in style.
Oh, and did I mention that he's a NERDY former professional hockey player? Be still my #nerdygirl heart!!!
I'll admit that Theo's huge family got a bit confusing with all the names being thrown around, especially at first, but they started to sort themselves out in my head, eventually. I'm guessing subsequent books in the series will be able to be read as standalones, but having some background might be helpful.

3.5 stars!
Play to Win is the first in a brand new hockey romance series centered around the Wynn family members. A family who lives and breaths hockey. Also, quite the dysfunctional family with many issues between which made for some interesting and hilarious interactions.
This first installment is about Theo Wynn and Lacey Olson.
This book started out with all the makings of an interesting, flirty and entertaining romance. I love this genre and I love this trope. An oopsy marriage. Don’t ask me why. It’s totally far-fetched but I love it when done right. And I’d say this author accomplished that.
When they first met, it was fun and sexy and I loved the first part of the book when they were spending most of their time together and getting to know each other.
When they finally get to California and Theo starts his job and is working long hours, trying to prove himself, it was realistic.
It’s silly when you read a book and the characters seem to not have jobs or are home all day lounging.
That said, I just loved them together and wished we had a little more of that and really get to see them falling love along the way.
As it was simply mentioned, that they were hanging out and bonding and such.
That‘s just my personal preference; I like dialogue and banter and a lot of it.
There was so much I liked about this book, it’s fun and entertaining with some crazy humor that had a smile on my face. The side characters were a bit much at time. but I grew to love them and can’t wait to read more about them in the upcoming books in the series.

Theo Wynn’s family is well known in the NHL hockey world. When a blow to the face damages his eyesight, he’s forced to retire from a game that means everything to him. Luckily, he’s extremely intelligent and good with numbers. When his grandfather offers him the job as GM for the Los Angeles Condors, he jumps at the chance to prove himself. His family dynamics are interesting, to say the least. Theo’s not sure if the job offer is a testament to his abilities or his grandfather’s way to get back at his father. Nevertheless, he accepts. Only, he doesn’t want to return home without a “girlfriend”.
Lacey is doing her best at just getting by. Although Lacey has a twin brother, she often finds herself alone. Struggling. Losing her mom to cancer has only made life lonelier. While serving drinks one evening, she is “hit on” by some loan sharks. Her brother thought she’d gladly pay off his debts! Instead, Theo comes to the rescue. After a wild night of drinking and touring Vegas, they decide to a quickie marriage of convenience. But soon, convenience becomes so much more...
This novel is that and so much more! Theo’s family is so dysfunctional it’s hilarious! Theo is OCD, while Lacey is carefree and loving life. I saw sooo much of myself in Theo while wishing I could be a little more like Lacey! Her ability to see through and into Theo’s heart was stunning. She’s had such a hard life that the hopes of something more was too hard for her to grasp, so she runs. And I loved the penguin x2! Symbolism at its best! Loved it and I can’t wait to read more of this series. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Theo Wynn is part of a dynasty, a hockey dynasty, his grandfather and father both own teams, uncles working either as coaches or actual players, aunts working with the teams foundations. It’s hard for Theo to stand out. After suffering a blow to his eye that ended his dream career and rebuilding himself, his grandfather offers him the job of a Lifetime, general manager of his hockey team.
Lacey has nobody to rely on but herself. She’s never known her dad, her mother passed away and her only brother just emptied her bank account. So to say Lacey has been living a pretty hard life is an understatement. So when she sees what she assumes is a bachelor party seated in her section of the restaurant it’s the last thing she needs. Pleasantly surprised to find out this group of guys are not out celebrating one last night of being single, in a total douchie way but instead are guys celebrating their friend’s new job promotion she heads to check on other guests. Instead she finds herself getting harassed by a couple of her brothers bookies who apparently were sent to Pimp her out and aren’t taking no for an answer.
Theo can’t take his eyes off his kind and sweet waitress. Normally he wouldn’t interfere in other people’s business but when he sees her getting harassed by a couple of guys and then leaving with her stuff he just knows something bad is going down and has to step in.
What starts out as a pretty shitty night turns into a night of pure fun, dancing, drinking, bliss and ends with the two getting married in what is a marriage of convenience. Heading to LA they both need a do over. Lacey getting away from her addict brother and some mob bookies, and Theo needing a woman to show his family that he’s over the betrayal of his brother and ex-girlfriend.
What starts out as a marriage of convenience and a deal between two strangers quickly turns into more as they live with the other and gets to know one another. Will this relationship get be real or will the past repeat itself and Theo end up betrayed again. Find out when you go and read the book!
play to win it is the first in Kelly jamieson’s new hockey series and it sure as hell doesn’t disappoint. It has all the things I love. It has romance, hockey, a hot hero, and some family drama. There’s a scene in the book where the whole family gets together and boy is it some type of shit show. I actually wished it would go on a bit more or I would have another taste of it later in the book, unfortunately no such luck. I hope to see more of it later in the series because Kelly has set it up for a lot Books, fingers crossed, in this series.
I have two nitpicks with this book. One I wish we would’ve seen some type of resolution or maybe a little more story line in relation to the mob bookies. The last we’d seen is Theo and Lacey running from them and that’s it. I get the brother got his crap together but I wished for just a little more storyline for the mob. My second little nitpick is the family. While I loved the family dynamic I had a little bit of trouble keeping track of who is who and how they are all related and that’s even with the help of the family table in the beginning of the book that Kelly was kind enough to provide us.
But those nitpicks are very minor to me and didn’t overshadow or distract me from the story that Kelly Jamieson told. I highly look forward to the next book in the series and finding out more about the different family drama between them.
