Look out for the new hockey family royalty! The Wynn family will be so much fun to read and we get to start with Theo and Lacey.

Theo Wynn isn't like the others in his family. He's always kinda stood out from the pack with his smarts and ability to work the numbers of the business. After his own hockey dreams died with an accident, he remains in the business as an assistant GM. So when his grandfather makes him a deal he can't refuse, he knows some members of the family are not going to be happy.

Lacey finds herself in a world of trouble thanks to her brother and needs to figure out what to do fast. So when the handsome Theo offers to whisk her away, she figures what does she have to lose?

I really loved Theo and Lacey together. Opposites attract type situation, but the two find that they really have one thing in common - they were made for each other. Lacey's in your face, tell it like it is, live life at the moment attitude is just what the straight-laced by the book Theo needs to loosen up and have a little fun.

What a great way to start a new series and I can't wait for more stories from this crazy Wynn family dynasty.

I wish I could rate the first half of this book separately from the second. The first half was a struggle for me- too many details we didn’t need right at the beginning, it became a bit overwhelming and unnecessary. The writing didn’t seem as refined as the second half of the book. The characters and plot had more moments that felt forced than not. Overall the first half left me wanting to walk away entirely... but I’m glad I didn’t.

After a first half I would have rated the book 2, the second half really brought me in and kept me reading! The characters seemed to figure out who they were and interactions became less forced, allowing information to naturally develop and evolve. I really enjoyed the main characters in the second half! Good amount of drama and trial for the couple, and plenty of directions for the author to take this hockey family series in the future.

I would have given the second half of the book a 4... so thinking about the book as a whole, I’ve settled at 3.

This is my first novel by this author and it will NOT be my last!

I absolutely love the characters she has created and the Wynn family dynamic assures me there is more fabulousness to come! Theo was the perfect person to start off this series because he’s the bridge between both quarrying sides and Lacey’s charm and wit makes her his perfect match!

I laughed so hard during different points in the book and the angst level was perfect! There wasn’t huge unnecessary drama but it was just enough to make the story entertaining! I can’t wait to see what else she has in store in the next book!

“Play to Win” launches a new Kelly Jamieson hockey series which in itself is good news. More good news: It’s a great hook for what’s to come.

I am a hardcore Jamieson fan but this book, first in the Wynn family hockey series, didn’t excite me so much as the glimpse of what are sure to be other entries.

It’s a cute set-up. Hockey-star-from-a-hockey-dynasty-family Theo suffers a career-ending injury and turns to management of his grandfather’s lousy hockey team. He wants to prove to his feuding, bickering and all-out strange family he can turn the team around with his other talent: numbers. Make math sexy again! [“Play to Win” does get a little deep in the hockey weeds for those of us inexpert in understanding the sport.]

Theo meets Lacey in Las Vegas and since she’s running from the mob and he’s decided what will really impress his family is a hot wife on his arm, obviously they elope and hurry on to California where Theo commences his team’s transformation.

Lacey is a terrific heroine. She’s funny, she’s smart, she’s not afraid to call out Theo. I liked Theo but he was a bit of a wet blanket. He needs her, especially if they are going to parlay their HEA in service of the couples-to-be.

We are all familiar with series that feature cartoon-like, “colorful” and one-dimensional family characters we’re supposed to bond with. I think that might really happen for the Wynns. Theo describes them as “nuttier than squirrel ****” while Lacey prefers to believe they are “intriguing.” Regardless, they are hilarious and I look forward to Jamieson sorting all that out for us.

If you think YOU have suffered uncomfortable family dinners, meet the Wynns. Highly recommend.

As a romance lover and sports fan I get excited when I can find both and Kelly Jamieson’s Play to Win fits the bill. With thugs chasing Lacey, she finds herself married and on her way to Las Vegas. Well written story and the characters were relatable. A fun kickoff to new series you are sure to enjoy.

This was my first experience reading this author's work and I think it was a great way to start since this is the first book in the new Wynn Hockey series. I'm not a fan of hockey, but I enjoyed this read, although there are quite a few characters in this book -- quite a large family! This is Theo Wynn and Lacey Olsen's story and it was a rather quick one -- a fast read, but enjoyable nevertheless. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

A great start to a series but can be read as a standalone. Theo just took a job that puts him in the middle of a long standing family fued. His family is ridiculous with they things they say to each other and accuse each other of. You want to find out what truths and secrets they are hiding. Theo and Lacey make an impulse decision that leads to more. They have ups and downs on the way but they get their happily ever after. I love how they bring out pieces of each other that they didn't know needed to be brought out. Such a sweet romance story of growth, love, and understanding.

This is one of Kelly Jamieson's best books to date. Funny, quirky, steamy all rolled into one!

I laughed out loud a lot in this one. If the res to the series follows suit, this will be some of the author's best work with family drama, hockey, beaches, and more.

I'm giving this book 3.5 stars, but rounding it up to 4.
Up until about 80% through the book, I was all about it. The characters, the plot, everything was great. Then it kind of went downhill. The ending felt very rushed and extremely predictable.
Besides that I enjoyed it. The hockey terms and knowledge was there, the characters were great, the sexual tension was awesome.

Play to Win (Wynn Hockey, #1) by Kelly Jamieson This is the first book in the WYNN HOCKEY series.. and it is a great start. This is Theo Wynn (retired with injury hockey player...going back home to manage his grandfather's team) Lacey Olsen (has to get out of Vegas because her low life brother did her wrong) They meet and Theo decides to saw her and take her to California with him..then they decide to have a Vegas wedding that is fake. The fun never stops... plenty of laughs and some tears.. you meet the whole crazy Wynn family..there is some steamy sex all leading to a HEA. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series IN IT TO WIN IT.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Wonderful characters Entertaining Happily Ever After Unpredictable Action-packed Steamy Page-turner Funny Easy-to-read Romantic

This premise was really hard to believe. The sudden Vegas marriage was ridiculously half baked. I felt like the plot didn't really come together. The heroine didn't feel like a real person in anyway.

This is one of those books that grows on you the longer you read. The writing was a little choppy for me in the beginning, but as I became engrossed in the story it didn't seem to matter. Théo's so anal, and I freakin' love it, almost as much as I love Lacey pushing him outside of his comfort zone. The development of the relationship between these two is a really entertaining journey. And don't even get me started on the sh*tshow that is the Wynn family--I'm scared to learn more, and at the same time I'm beyond intrigued by the messiness. I'd definitely say this one is worth giving a try!

Thank you to Loveswept and NetGalley for the advance reader's copy in exchange for an honest review!

Théo Wynn is part of the Wynn hockey dynasty. Everyone in his family has something to do with hockey, wether they play it, own it, manage it or work in the back offices. On top of that, there is plenty of drama to go around. When his grandfather approaches him to come and manage his team the Los Angeles Condors, Théo decides to make the move from Las Vegas. Right now he’s an assistant manager and the thought of making all the top decisions, excites him. He’s always been a numbers guy, but that’s not how he started. Playing hockey was his first love, till the accident when a puck hit his eye. At one point they thought he would lose his eyesight, thank goodness that didn’t happen, even thou he was never able to play professionally again. On his last night in Vegas, Théo goes out for drinks with his teammates.
When Lacey Olson finds out that her addicted gambling brother has emptied everything in her bank account again, she panics. How will she pay her rent. Lacey has been bailing him out since their mother passed away. A waitress in one of the more famous casinos in Vegas, she likes her job but not the long hours in high heels. On this particular night, Lacey is having a difficult time with a group of men that are looking for her brother, since he stiffed their bookie. Now they say she has to work for them as a prostitute to pay his debt. Théo, who was nearby heard all this transpiring and came to her rescue. If things couldn’t get any worse, she gets fired since those goons insisted she had stolen money from them. Now that they are threatening her, Lacey knows she needs to get out of dodge. When Théo invites Lacey to come with him to LA till her brother gets his act together, she thinks he’s crazy, but then it got crazier. He proposes that they get married!
This is another hit for Kelly Jamieson! There is nothing she can’t write!

I really like Kelly Jamieson's Aces Hockey series and have even wrote about how smart the female characters are. When this came up on NetGalley, I was so happy to be approved. I think my mistake was I'd get something similar to Aces. Mistake!

The humor was crude, our main gal Lacey wasn't anything close to inspirational and the family tree remains awkward and confusing. It was disappointing. Jamieson's storytelling is usually so good and strong... well, from my experience on a few Aces books.

I'm hoping for better and will keep an eye out for 1 or 2 more in this series in hopes it gets better. There are just a handful of authors that get hockey romance right and Jamieson's one of them.

The only plus in this book was Theo.

I loved this first book in Kelly Jamieson’s new hockey series. Play to Win was a great introduction to the world of the fictional California Condors, as well as Theo and Lacey. Theo is an assistant general manager of a hockey team when his grandfather convinces him to take over as general manager of the Condors. His grandfather is the team owner and promises to let him have total control of the team. Theo also knows that it will cause an additional family rift with his father and uncle, who are involved with a competing team and aren’t speaking to his grandfather. He accepts, and before he leaves his Las Vegas home, he is out for a celebratory night with his friends when he meets Lacey. She’s a cocktail waitress who finds herself in the midst of a bad situation. One thing leads to another, and before the end of the evening Theo and Lacey are married. Their goals are to get Lacey out of her current situation, and for Theo to be able to go back home to California and face his ex, who cheated on him with his brother.

The situation is a little contrived, but the fun and well-developed characters make up for it. Theo and Lacey are adorable, and their humor shines through even in moments of angst. While this book is a hockey romance, I liked reading it from Theo’s perspective, instead of the players’ this time around. Jamieson is a pro when it comes to hockey romance, and she makes this story fresh and engaging. I can’t wait to see what she has in store next for the Condors.

So I must confess that I am a little in love with Theo and his family. They are a frigging hoot!
This entire book was a joy to read, from the first meeting, to swooping in and saving, the road trip, Orgasm stop anyone? living together, Lacey's light attracting so many people. The way that Theo and Lacey complement each other. I loved reading everything, except the misunderstanding portion of the book, knew it was going to happen, just wish there had been a different way of moving them forward. But chapter 26th? OMG did I laugh! and I admit to a little crying. Love the Wynn family and cant wait for more!

I love a good sports romance! After reading Major Misconduct by Kelly Jamieson I knew I wanted to read this one too. It’s a pretty good story. I enjoyed the characters and this version of the “marriage of convenience” theme. At the same time it didn’t have the snap-crackle-and-pop that leaves you not wanting their story to end. I’m also turned off by first person narrative.

Another incredible new series starter here for Kelly Jamieson! The Wynn family sure ought to keep us going for quite some time! They are a hockey family-some play, some own and some manage, but all clearly love it! The family dynamics here are interesting to say the very least and highly entertaining. I’m already loving this series and this is just book 1.
Theo used to play hockey but a career ending eye injury has him on the other side now managing a team. He is a numbers guy and very organized and has a plan for everything.
Lacey’s plans have not exactly gone how she wanted them too. She has a lot going on either her brother and she just takes things as they come and hopes they will get better.
When Lacey and Theo meet the sparks fly high and life is about to be very different for both of them.
I love every single thing about this book! The story is amazing, the characters are fantastic, the Beatles music at a certain time in the book is fabulous and the ending is incredibly satisfying!! Can’t wait for more!!
