Hot to Touch by Jaci Burton is the 1st book in her new Brotherhood by Fire series. I am big fan of Jaci Burton, having loved her Hope series, and another one of our reviewers loves her Play by Play series. I really enjoyed the start of this new series.

The story starts when a fireman is trying to rescue Rebecca (Becks), our heroine, who is desperate to save things she needs from her store. The fireman doesn’t care about those things, and he is forcing her out of the store fire to save her life.

Jackson Donovan, our hero and fireman who saves Becks, starts off on the wrong foot with her, as he was a bit rude. To his surprise, his two brothers (they are adopted) recognize Becks as their long lost friend from 15 years ago, when they were homeless and their friendships helped them survive on the streets. The three boys (Jackson, Rafe & Kal) were trapped in an abandoned house fire, when a firefighter rescues them, and eventually he adopted the three boys giving them a normal home to live in.
The brothers are happy to have found Becks, and offer their house as a temporary place to stay. Jackson, who does not relive the past, does not remember Becks, and continues to give her a hard time. Becks remembers the old days when she had a crush on the young Jackson, and was surprised he didn’t remember her, but in time she can tell he blocks the past from his mind.

While Becks is happy to be staying in a nice house, and enjoys the camaraderie of the boys, she slowly loosens Jackson’s resolve, and a slow built romance will begin for both of them. Jackson, knowing he is hard on Becks, tries to win her over, and help her find a new store for her tattoo business. At first, I wasn’t crazy about Jackson, especially his rudeness; but in time the sparks between them was steamy hot.
What follows is a nice romance, though a difficult start, with an excellent story about homeless children and foster care. I loved that Becks would visit those youngsters that were homeless, and bring them food, or even help one of the young girls get adopted. I also loved when one of the older girls started to work for Becks. A very nice addition to this story line.

The firefighter story line was also good, as that is the backdrop of the series. Hot to Touch also had some great secondary characters, such as Rafe, Kal, Aria, the boy’s parents, to name a few. I got used to Jackson as the story progresses, as he explains to Becks about how he blamed himself all those years ago, and why he did not want to relive the past. Becks to me was the star of this book. I loved her independence, street smarts, confidence and ability to not let anything stand in her way. Great heroine.

Hot to Touch was a well written story line by Jaci Burton. I loved the story about how the boys became brothers, found a loving home and parents; and how Becks survived moving around in different foster homes and was the strongest one of them all. I wholly recommend you to read Hot to Touch.

This is a wonderful read full of fear, hope and trust. With the background that Jackson and Becks share it is understandable that there is an evident fear of getting too close. Being hesitant to dream about a future.

Jackson's life turned around the night of that fire so long ago. Finding the right loving people to take him and his brothers in. Now he has a successful career that he loves, family to share it with. But he still holds people at a distance.

Becks has worked her butt off to where she is today. Finding a love in her art and a way to express it through her tattoo business. When she connects with some friends from the past she is excited. The more time she spends with them the more her feelings get involved and she begins to fight that fear of loss.

Can Jackson and Becks find their way to happiness for good? Or will the past keep them from letting their feelings grow?

I look forward to Rafe and Kal's stories.

Jackson Donovan and his step brothers were rescued and adopted after a fire burnt down the house they were sheltering in. Jackson has never looked back from that moment now until a commercial fire brings him face to face with his past. Will Jackson adapt and adopt or walk away from one of the best things that could have ever happened to him?

Becks Benning has left her life on the street far behind successfully running her tattoo business. A devastating fire destroys her business but brings her face to face with her past and Jackson Donovan the natural leader who had held together the band of street kids who hung together until he and his foster brothers disappeared. Now he's here larger than life and totally disapproving with no memory of her or his other childhood companions.
Given that Becks is homeless and without a location for her business Jackson's foster brothers invite Becks to be their temporary room mate ntil she can get her act together. Certainly Jackson is not a happy camper but can Becks manage to cut through the ice and find the warm caring heart?

I enjoy Ms. Burton's writing style and look forward to the other books in the series.

There were several things I really liked about Hot to the Touch:
1. Family! You are introduced to a trio of brothers that have survived a less than ideal life. I love their bonds for sure!
2. Low angst! Can I get an amen?!
3. Becks is a phenomenal woman. She is giving, compassionate, and determined!Jackson has baggage that he doesn't want to deal with. He prefers to forget the past. Becks won't let him though so he pushes her away. Becks and Jackson knew each other years ago when their lives were less than easy, and Becks has always had a thing for Jackson. Sometimes Jackson can come off as kind of a rude jerk as opposed to tortured hero which was annoying. Becks is delightful though! She has such a sunny disposition that you just want to hang out with her and absorb some of that positivity!

While there is lots of chemistry between Becks and Jackson, I felt there was something lacking in the relationship. Maybe it was because I felt Jackson was so closed off. I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't quite seem to fully click. They go from "someone I sort of knew years ago" to "someone I have sex with but thats it" to "relationship" and I felt that Jackson was kind of dragging his feet at times.

Even with my struggles, I thought Hot to the Touch was a quick and steamy read. Fans of Burton will love the family dynamic and steamy love and new readers will get to jump into a new 'world'.

Growing up, Jackson Donovan was homeless. With a group of other kids, he formed a pack that protected and looked out for each other. One night, they had to split up. He found shelter from a storm with two other boys and they were almost killed in a fire. Instead, they were rescued twice by Josh Donovan. Once from the fire and then once from the streets when he and his wife Laurel took them all in.
Now an adult, all three boys work in the same fire station (I didn't think that was allowed?). When they answer a call at a tattoo parlor, they find one of the other kids that they used to hang out iwith, Rebecca "Becks" Benning. When they find out Becks was living above her shop, Jackson's brothers immediately invite her to move in. They just had a roommate move out so they've got space.
Unlike the boys, Becks never got adopted. She needed up going back into foster care and found a decent family but has no real ties to anyone. So she's happy to move in with her friends, if only Jackson weren't so prickly.
The two figure out how to navigate, especially when they acknowledge the tension between them is a lot related to attraction. But both have their issues stemming from the way they grew up. Jackson especially will have to dig deep if he wants to keep the woman he's starting to love.
A nice start to a new series. I can't wait to read Carmen and Rafe's story.

The Brotherhood by Fire is well named as a series about "brothers" who are firefighters. I love series where the characters in each book are siblings and I love firefighter romances. I have read and enjoyed Jaci Burton in the past.

Hot to the Touch is a fun and fast read. The firefighter aspects were mostly secondary to the romance and character development of the main couple. As the first book in the series, there is some world building and history on the main characters. The topic of homeless children is part of their histories.

I guess I would call this a friends to lovers romance but it is more like an acquaintances to fuck buddies to lovers progression. Both Jackson and Becks are attracted immediately and nether is initially looking for a long-term commitment. But as they get to know each other, neither is sure of the other's feelings. It isn't like they are dishonest with each other (any more than they are with themselves). Things just change as time passes and they know more of each other.

As one might expect, sexy times are hot and sizzling. Both Jackson and Becks are giving lovers. I expect to read on in this hot series!

Jaci Burton always delivers! Hot to the Touch is definitely hot, but it also has a ton of emotion and romance. Jackson and Becks have a shared heartrending history that becomes the foundation for their developing romantic relationship. It's a tender and steamy evolution that will squeeze your heart. I can't wait for Rafe and Kal's stories.

I'm always excited and nervous about a new series from an author that I enjoy. When you are really liking their series it's a little hard to jump ship per sec. But I'm always game so here we are. The first in her new series, Brotherhood by Fire is Hot to the Touch.

I really enjoyed this one. It sets up the series well and introduces you to the main characters of the series.

I really enjoyed Jackson even though he was closed off about his past. I understood why he did want to think about that time in his life even if it might have made him feel better. But I did like how I felt she kept at him about it. Yes, she was in love so she wanted to "fix" him but enough is enough. Take a break.

The relationship of the brothers is a great one to read about. I love how the bricker back and forth and try to one-up each other. Boys will be boys. You really believe that they've known each other for most of their lives by the way they act. I laughed more than one.

I also liked Becks too. She was so well grounded and even though for her life hadn't been as kind as it has been for Jackson, she handled it all well. She never forgot where she came from and gave back. It's hard not to like that about her. All around she's a good-natured person, one you'd like to call a friend.

As a whole, this is a wonderful story that I think you'll enjoy. It was a little light in the romance but I wondered if that was because of their past. Even though Jackson didn't want to remember what happened then, I felt he was very comfortable around Becks, like they've known each other forever. and because of that, you don't get that beginning of a relationship feeling with them. Not a bad thing because it works for them.

I can tell you that I'm looking forward to more in this series and can't wait for the next book to come out which isn't till next year.

I would just like to thank both the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an eARC of this title. I would also like to mention that I am a fan of Jaci Burton and have enjoyed very many of her books. However, I am sorry to say that this story was not among my favorites. While I really liked Jackson's brothers, Rafe and Kal, and the female protagonist Becks is admirable and likable, I didn't feel the passion between her and Jackson, the male lead, even if I did enjoy the relationships between all of the characters. There was a repeating plot that I just felt, as a reader, was too repetitive and there was little to actual move the plot forward. I'm hoping the next title by Burton takes readers back to what made her successful.

Hot to the Touch is the first installment of the Brotherhood by Fire series by Jaci Burton

I re-read all of Jaci Burton’s Play-by-Play series all the time, so when I found out this author was writing a NEW series. I had to jump on it!

Jaci Burton is well known in creating a wonderful family element into her stories. And it’s no surprise she does a splendid job on Hot to the Touch. In this story, we meet the three homeless brothers who were rescued by Josh and Laurel Donovan. The eldest, Jackson followed in his adopted father’s footstep in becoming a firefighter along with his two other brothers. One fateful call, Jackson Donovan came face to face with Becks Benning. The girl he knew when he was homeless and a scrawny kid. But this dirty grew up, into a beautiful woman.

As they rekindle, will Jackson save himself from the blazing fire within, or will he be able to control the flames? For his heart isn’t the only one on the line.

Highly recommend for those who love a family oriented story and a man in uniform.

This is book one in a new series by Jaci Burton of 3 brothers that are firefighters. Okay, If you are like me, I think knowing that this story has men in uniform should be enough, but if it isn't let me tell you some more about it. Jackson and his two brothers used to live on the street and one night after a house they were hiding in caught fire the firefighter who responded not only saved them from the fire but also from the streets. Fast forward to present day when the brothers respond to a building with smoke and run into Becks who used to run on the streets with them when they were little. Becks always had a crush on Jackson and now seeing him all grown up her feelings are still there. Of course Jackson has packed his memories from his past away so he doesn't really remember Becks. What he does know is that he has weird feelings in his chest the more time they spend together. The sparks between these two is as hot as the fires Jackson fights. They both deal with baggage and being able to deal with feelings that they have closed themselves off to. This is a great story and you won't want to miss out on how it ends. Brotherhood by Fire is definitely off to a great start.

I love a good firefighter romance, being married to a firefighter and all. But unfortunately I just never clicked with this story. I found myself skimming, trying to connect and unfortunately just didn't like it enough to say anything either way.

This is a wonderful new series from Jaci Burton about some HOT firefighters. Firefighter Jackson Donovan and his two brothers have made it through some tough times and has no intention of revisiting those memories. But when they go out on a call they end of rescuing someone from their past. Becks Banning is a tattoo artist who loses her shop as well as her home in a fire. Jackson's brothers Rafe and Kal make the offer to Becks to live with them until she can find another place. Living in close proximity brings out the sizzling feelings between Jackson and Becks. It also stirs up memories that Jackson would like to forget.

Fire can bring people together, not just separate them. This is mainly the story of old friends who lived on the streets when they were young and who find each other again through tragedy. We follow the story of 3 brothers by alliance who have become firemen, as they were saved and adopted by a fireman and his wife. They are called to a fire in a tattoo business where the owner is also someone from the streets. A relationship develops between her and the oldest of the firemen. The story is without surprises. It is a good read, sans plus.

I felt this book was a good start to a new series. I liked how the characters reconnected after not seeing each other for years. It is a good story about how to overcome the things that life throws at you and how you just need to keep moving forward. I liked both Becks and Jackson. They make a wonderful couple. I just wish the characters had a little more depth. You get a little backstory on them but parts of it just seem shallow. I do look forward to the next book though. Hopefully it will concentrate a little more on the present instead of the past and have more depth.

Hot to the Touch is a "touching" (terrible pun intended) story about first love. Two emotionally unavailable people find a connection worth pursuing. The hot fireman and the sexy tattoo artist have an intense heat between them, a shared history, and a fear that they won't talk about.

Brotherhood by Fire has a heartwarming premise and makes me want to stick around for the other stories.

Book Review: Hot to the Touch by Jaci Burton

This is the story of firefighter and tattoo artist. This is childhood friends who reconnect a few years later and start a relationship.

Jackson rescues Becks from a fire. It turned out that they know each other from the years when they were children living in the streets. Jackson’s brothers take Becks into their wing and invited her to live in their home.

There is a bit of hate to lovers at the beginning but then they develop a relationship that was hot.

I felt for their story of lost children living in the streets. It was emotional. I am glad that they were able to overcome it.

I will read the next books in the series.

Hot to the Touch by Jaci Burton is a brand new series about firefighters #yum 🔥

The story begins in the past. Jackson gets caught in a house fire after seeking shelter for the night with his foster brothers, Rafe and Kal. The brothers make it and are saved... This pivotal point drives them to become firefighters. As a twist of fate, they are adopted by the firefighter who saved them. 👨🏼‍🚒

Present day, they're on their way to a call when Jackson--our hero--comes face to face with his past. Becks.

Becks used to hang with the Donovan boys when they lived on the streets. Jackson and her were close. Becks even harboured a crush on him when they were teens... but Jackson can't seem to remember her. Not only awkward but no bueno. 👎🏼

Jackson and Becks have great sexual chemistry between them but sadly, not much of an emotional connection. Jackson remains guarded and reluctant to open up about the past. It isn't until close to the end of the book that Jackson finally opens his eyes!

Hot to Touch was a sexy and steamy quick read. Not particularly engaging, so it was difficult for the novel to completely captivate me. However, I can say I loved how the Donovan boys built up their lives and made something out of themselves. Same with Becks as she becomes a business owner.

Overall, I just needed more. Though this one unfortunately was not my cup of tea, I still look forward to exploring other novels by Jaci.

A smoldering hot book about confronting the past and taking the future by the horns. Jackson has known Becks since they were living on the streets as kids...but he hates thinking of that time in his life. Will he be able to put aside his fears to embrace a life with Becks?

Steamy and full of complex characters.
