Natasha reached out to me on Instagram and asked if I’d give her book a read. I was happy to do so because I appreciate the opportunity to support other women especially in their business endeavors. I hadn’t gotten to the book yet, and now I won’t ever read it or anything else Natasha writes due to her horrific behavior toward another woman on a train. Women, especially women of color, have enough battles to fight for equality we don’t need to attack each other. Women should be supporting other women and never attack another woman whose story you know nothing about. I cannot support any woman or her businesses when she takes actions like Natasha did. Instead, I support the innocent woman who was unnecessarily attacked by Natasha.

I have been conflicted about providing a review of this book because of the events of May 10th. As a result, I will only be providing a review here and nowhere else.

When the author approached me and asked me to participate in the blog tour as well as read and review, I was intrigued by the story and jumped at the opportunity. I withdrew from the blog tour immediately upon becoming aware of the incident because I could no longer support the author whose core values are so different from my own.

The premise of this story was really exciting to me. A young Jordanian woman Siwar who dies in suspicious circumstances on her birthday, whose consciousness wakes up in the body of Wyatt, a 3 year old speech delayed boy. It follows her frustrations being stuck in a body that cannot communicate to let people know what happened to Siwar, who some people believed had committed suicide. The story then jumps to adult Wyatt, who has been guided to have an interest in Jordan, and who ends up dating Siwar's niece. Can Wyatt find out what happened to Siwar, his girlfriend's dead aunt, for whom he feels a connection he cannot understand?

Although the idea of the story was fresh and exciting, and I did enjoy reading it especially the twist at the end, I was surprised by the quality of the copy I received. I have never read anything with so many errors, and with grammatical issues that needed considerable work. I assume this was a completely unedited proof. It is hard to tell whether the issues within the proof would have been resolved, but on the basis that they would have been, I believe this book had the potential to do really well. However, because of the issues I mentioned at the beginning of my review, I do not feel I could ever support the publishing of this or any work by the author.

Nope, not today. I will not read or support an author that decided to act as Tynes has. Public has deemed this author irrelevant and not worth the time.

Did not finish this book and now with everything going on with the author, I no longer wish to continue reading it nor giving it an actual chance. I have no desire to read anything else from this author. Her actions recently were unwarranted and downright petty.

I’m rating it 1 star instead of refusing to provide feedback just because it would affect MY overall percentage on here.

Deleting what I previously wrote because I cannot in good conscience recommend a book by someone who did something so atrocious. The book was fine, but I’m not one to separate the art from the artist and anyone who feels similarly should give this book a pass.

Based on recent events, I do not feel I can support this author by reading and reviewing this book. I cannot condone the behaviour she has demonstrated and do not wish to be associated with someone who would potentially jeopardise another persons livelihood.
The author approached me directly to review her work, and although this is not something I would normally read, I chose to support someone trying her best to make her way in a difficult industry. It’s a shame she didn’t apply the same kindness to the rail worker who was also likely just trying to do her best.

Very glad the author showed her true colors on twitter before I read her book. Calling out a black woman (for eating?!) in the way she did on 5/10 is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Her lack of empathy (especially considering she identifies herself as a WOC on social media) is disgusting.

I will not be giving a review based on the author's actions on Twitter resulting in the publisher's refusal to release the book.

Please consider me for further publishing opportunities. I am open to building relationships with publishers.

I cannot in good conscience support this woman's work after her recent actions harassing a WOC on the metro and then attempting to get her fired for eating food. Her behavior was unacceptable and I find it highly ironic that she can write extensively about her struggles as a WOC writer and then attempt to take away the livelihood of another WOC because she was annoyed.

I won’t be reviewing this book due to the recent inappropriate actions by the author that surfaced on social media which I can not condone. I choose not to support her work in light of the way she has chosen to harass another minority woman.

I found this story to be unique and intriguing from very early on. I enjoyed how much it expanded upon Jordanian culture and how it related to the overall mystery of the novel. It brought into question the science behind reincarnation and I felt as though it was handled very well by the author. I wish more time was spent on Wyatt in his earlier years as the jump from age 4 to 25 was a little jarring. Also, the question of Destiny within Wyatt's and Hoda's relationship was a little too contrived for my liking. Overall though, the author did a great job at creating a very different story from what is out there today and had a true talent at keeping the mystery going to the very end.

Many thanks to the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Special thanks to the publisher as well as NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book but it will not be necessary. As a woman of color myself, I am absolutely appalled and disgusted by this author's actions as of late. I thank the publisher for making the statement that they did as well as letting the public know that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. I am firm in my decision to not support this author with this release nor any of her future releases.

This book was just ok. I thought the premise was interesting, but it took me a while to get into. Also, I know I received an ARC and that there are bound to be mistakes which will be corrected later, but I found more typos in this book than I ever have. I would guess at least 50. It felt like I was reading a first draft and that no one else had ever gone through it.

I no longer feel comfortable reading, reviewing, or supporting this book in any way in light of the author's hateful behavior earlier this week.

I will not finish reading a book by an author who got a minority worker fired. It wasn’t even my choice to review this book and I agreed to read it to help an author find an audience for her book. In light of recent events, I will not support this author.

I will not give feedback on this book in lieu of recent actions of the author.

I fee as though I can not invest my time in an author with poor moral and ethical judgments

I was extremely disappointed by the author's treatment of another person in a minority group this week. Because of her lack of respect and empathy in that situation, my opinion of this book has been severely negatively impacted. Instead of reviewing the text, then, I am leaving this one star review and expressing my hope that the author understands the problematic nature of her actions.

I won’t be reviewing this book due to recent inappropriate behavior on social media by the author. The author reached out directly to me to review the book and I no longer feel any obligation to read or review it.

Due to the author’s gross behavior with a MINORITY worker (even though she is a “minority writer”) who was just trying to eat her breakfast (God forbid), I now refuse to read her book any further.

They Called Me Wyatt is a story about a young Jordanian woman who falls to her death on her birthday. She is reincarnated into the body of a toddler named Wyatt. Through Wyatt, she is determined to prove that her death was not a suicide and find her killer. This is a very unique storyline; I have never read anything like it. I personally struggled to get through the story. The synopsis of this book caught my attention, but overall was not for me. The main idea is strong, but the story lacks character development & I was not satisfied with the ending.
