Some really strong short stories and some less so in this collection. More consistency in the quality of the storytelling across the collection was needed.

Here Is What You Do is a wonderfully modern collection of short stories, perfect for anyone with an interest in LGBTQI+ and queer issues.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

All of the stories in Chris Dennis's "Here Is What You Do" are engaging, and the characters are surprisingly well-developed for such short stories. Even characters who are not particularly likable are impressively deep. Dennis's writing is highly readable and sure to draw in a diverse audience. The strongest stories are those focused on queer characters and experience, though all of them are well worth the time spent delving into the array of experiences presented.

Here Is What You Do is well written and interesting but unfortunately just not me. I personally didn't like the writing style very much but I think if you did then it would be a really fantastic short story collection.

Love this short story collection. Found it really hard hitting in places. I encourage you to add this to your LGBTQ+ book collection.

An interesting book, but it peaked with the first story, which was an absolutely incredible work of fiction that I still think about now, even months after reading it. The collection also suffers from one of the most common pitfalls of work by men, which is a real failure to render female characters as three dimensional. Beyond that, it's a lyrical work of multitudes and I would recommend it, although it does make me weary to have books published in 2019 with such poor female rep.
