Martha is the only single young lady in her community with plenty of attention . Unwanted attention she isn't interested . She goes to Cevilla to seek assistance on how to tell these men she doesn't want to date any of them. She has been hurt before and doesn't want to be hurt again. Her friend has set up a scavenger hunt and she attends just to run away from the guys again. She finds a little building in the woods and goes in to hide. This is where she find Seth the bishops son. He has been hiding the fact he comes here to do woodworking. His family has a farm and works the farm with the bishop and his brothers. They are both interested in woodworking and make a plan . He will teach her wood working and against his better judgement agrees to pretend to be in a relationship. There is a new family in town and Delilah may be have met her match in Cevilla. They are both trying to match make . Nina is Delilah's granddaughter and she would love for her to be with the bishops son. Nina is a tom boy and Seth does not interest her especially since he is with Martha. Just when he is ready to tell everyone the truth Seth finds he has feelings for Martha. Martha also has feelings for Seth. Different situations come up that keep them apart and they have to make their feelings known and work on their real feelings.

Martha has a problem. She knows she should be thinking about finding a husband and she's ready for that, but she feels pressured from the young men in her community. She wants to find her match on her own terms, but things seem to keep getting in her way.

Seth is also not ready to find a spouse. He is more interested in his wood carving that he's trying to perfect to maybe go into business. He is also dealing with some family issues that I won't go into. I don't want to give too much away. He's just in a place in his life where he doesn't have time nor or the desire to settle down.

A new family arrives in town to start an inn. Loren, Delilah (Loren's mom), Nina (Loren's daughter) and Levi (Loren's son) all live together and start working on the business and building a new life in Birch Creek. Delilah immediately wants to set up Nina and Levi with possible spouses. Delilah thinks Nina should start a relationship with Seth and that Martha might be good match for Martha. But, Martha isn't ready to be attached to Levi and Nina isn't ready to be hooked up with Seth. So, Martha and Seth hatch a plan. If they can just put the idea out there that they are interested in each other, even though they aren't, it may just keep everyone off their backs. What could go wrong?

So great when you get a book and find out it's part of a series. Am I right? The Farmer's Bride is the second book after The Teacher's Bride. Now, you don't have to read the first one, but, personally, I recommend it. I enjoyed seeing appearances by characters in this book that I knew from the first.

I enjoyed this book so much. I loved the story, the dialogue, the characters and the writing style. And look at that gorgeous cover! Honestly, I think it would be a great movie. Comes out June 4th. Get your copy then! Thank you so much to the author!

I loved this Amish book! I so enjoy this author and so I was sure that would be the case once more and it was! So happy to have been able to read this. I have to admit I missed book 1 somehow, but that's OK, I loved it and was able to get right into this book with no problems.

It was a fun read and I love a book that includes humor. The book is a page turner, which I love. Nothing slow moving here.

The Farmer’s Bride is a lovely romance with engaging characters and an interesting and unique plot. The pacing is nice and steady, keeping me reading, wanting to find out what would happen next.

Martha Detweiler’s character is enchanting. Her love of family is apparent from the first page. She has a dilemma since she’s the only single female in Birch Creek. When her friend, Cevilla suggests a plan, she hesitates. Pretending to enter into a courtship with Seth Yoder is deceitful, but desperate to have the other men in the district leave her be, she reluctantly agrees. They quickly learn that they have a mutual desire, when she stumbles on his shed.

Seth loves woodcarving and hopes to turn it into more than a hobby. He’s kept it from his family, so when Martha discovers his hobby, and expresses the desire to learn, he agrees to teach her what he knows, so she’ll keep his secret. Seth is a man of his word, but soon realizes there is an attraction between him and Martha. I enjoyed his conflict between his duty to his father and his passion for woodcarving. I also enjoyed the tug of war he has over his feelings for Martha.

Both Martha and Seth are strong in their faith, which is admirable, and neither have any desire for the world beyond their Amish community, so there is no struggle there. The primary conflict is the emotions they are developing for each other. Seth believes he has no time for courting, even if he does feel Martha would make him a fine frau.

Martha’s struggle involves a past young man and his treatment of her when she tells him she’s not interested. She tired of evading the young men in the area. Since Seth clearly tells her he’s not interested, he’s perfect for the plan. The only problem––she is falling for him.

I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth between this couple. It made the book a good read. It’s clear from the start, they like each other, and as the story progresses, they form a firm friendship. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending.

If you are a fan of Amish romance with charming characters and a plot that is different than what is found in this genre, then you will enjoy The Farmer’s Bride. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. Happy reading!

The Farmer's Bride is an outstanding story written by Kathleen Fuller. This is the second book in her The Brides of Birch Creek series. The storyline is very powerful and definetly keeps the readers interest. I enjoyed getting reaquainted with characters from previous books.

This story centers around Martha Detweiler and Seth Yoder. Both of these characters are disinterested in having a relationship with anyone especially each other and this is where Cevilla Schlbach reenters the storyline. Cevilla, an eighty something Amish women, fancies herself as a matchmaker and decides to set her goal on Martha and Seth. What a tangled web that gets woven. There is a new family in Birch Creek and the grandmother and Cevilla butt heads. This makes for more interesting drama. This story is full of love,friendship,faith, and yes alittle deceit.

I really enjoyed reading this unique Amish romance! Most of the time, when I read Amish romance, there isn't a whole lot of movement in the community. The characters who fall in love have known each since children, and the whole town schemes to get them together. And in all of them, there are no English people as love interests (a secondary love story in this book). Now, maybe I just haven't expanded my Amish reading enough to read those romances. But regardless, The Farmer's Bride was a new and exciting thing for me. Loved it!

Martha Detweiler has a problem - the boys won't leave her alone! Being the only single young woman in a community full of young men has become a burden she can't handle anymore. Desperate for some relief, she goes to her friend, Cevilla Schlabach, for some time away from it all. And when she tells Cevilla of her problems, the resident matchmaker has a great idea. Seth Yoder is quiet and just wants to be left alone, but he is constantly pulled to social functions. What better way to fend off the invitations than be otherwise occupied, pretending to be courting Martha? At first Seth is against the idea, but as he gets to know Martha, he realizes that maybe this idea has its advantages. Soon they begin spending a lot of time together, and before they know it, their fake courtship has turned into something more.

The dynamic between Martha and Seth was so interesting! They really didn't understand each other and had so much to learn. Martha was so bubbly, almost too much so for Seth. It's basically pairing an extrovert with an introvert against their will - they are forced together and must try to communicate, despite their differing methods of doing so. Seth was so used to being alone and doing his own thing, so when Martha barged into his workshop and was always so positive, Seth had no clue how to handle that. When they began to get closer, it was lovely seeing them each mold to each other's personalities. Seth became a little more open and Martha became a little more at peace. Seth did frustrate me at times, because he could definitely be mean in his inability to handle conflict, but I still really liked how things came together in the end.

Amish romance on a new level with so many unique personalities. Multiple viewpoints told very well. This is a new author for me, and I am excited to read future books by her!

A really delightful read! The story line is filled with self-doubt, determination, strong family ties and growing attraction. The characters have wonderful interactions and connections throughout the story. Very enjoyable read.

I am a fan of this authors writing and especially her new series Amish Brides of Birch Creek. I have to admit that I found Martha Detweiler to be a bit of a drama queen at first but after a couple of chapters I started to like and appreciate who she is. Every single young man pursues the single Martha with the exception of Seth Yoder.

The storyline is cute and sometimes funny but as always I get the impression that Ms. Fuller writes from the heart and cares for her characters. From the young to the not so young she pens a special story for each of her finely crafted characters making her readers genuinely care what happens to them. I am looking forward to the next bride we meet in the 3rd book in this series.

Delilah can be overbearing but she surely has their best interests at heart. Now she is set on matchmaking Seth and Nina. Since Martha is the only unmarried girl in the community, she will have to do for Levi. Delilah is quite pushy, and Seth and Martha find themselves doing exactly the same thing they hadn’t wanted to do before- pretending they like each other. But are they really pretending? Is Martha’s interest in woodcarving of a passing nature? Will Martha stop being economical with the truth and come clean to her parents about the true nature of her relationship and her feelings for Seth? And will Delilah and Cevilla, the two resident matchmakers, become friends despite their different life experiences? All these questions kept me turning pages until I finished the book in one sitting.
I really enjoyed this light-hearted humourous story which raises the serious question of entering a dating relationship freely and responsibly.
This was my first book in the series but I will definitely be checking out the other titles.

Kathleen Fuller's "The Farmer's Bride" is the latest story set in the community of Birch Creek. I just recently started reading her Birch Creek Series, and have since read the entire set. I love the people in the district and am excited to spend more time with them. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest read also. The story follows Martha and Seth, each with their own reasons for avoiding marriage. Martha had a troubled relationship in the pas that has left her leery and unable to commit, for fear of hurting someone. Seth is the bishop's son and he is committed to helping his family remain stable, even at the expense of his own desires. Then Cevilla, the local match-maker in the community tries to help the two of them by having them pretend to court. Although the two decide that is a horrible idea, circumstances seem to continually push them together. They will each have to work through the obstacles they have set in front of themselves in order to see what can happen though.
This story was really good and had a great message about trusting God's provision and time in all things. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction. I would also suggest that if you haven't yet, then you should definitely check out the Birch Creek series! You won't be disappointed.

The Amish Brides of Birch Creek continues in this story about Martha. Martha's story begins with man problems, as she's the only available maiden around Birch Creek. It seems all the available men are out to date Martha except one, Seth. Of course the matchmaker, Cevilla will try to match the two but she has her own problems when a new family moves in complete with their own meddling matchmaking grandmother. Comic relief is spread through this new novel along with serious topics of love and trust. Recommended!

This sweet book by Kathleen Fuller has sparkles of humor all the way through this story. It has its serious moments, too, and that makes this a very enjoyable book to read. I loved Martha’s character and her dilemma of being the single girl among all those young Amish men who were looking for a wife. The first few pages telling about her “escape” had me smiling as I read. It’s the best kind of Amish romance with humor, misunderstandings, nosey friends and relatives, and a storyline that keep me picking up the book as often as I could find moments to read during the day. I love the folks in this Amish community and look forward to the next book in this series.

Martha has a very big problem...too many young men want to court her and they are relentless! She tries to avoid them, but hasn't been able to. A family friend comes up with the idea to have the one man who doesn't show interest in her pretend to court her! Neither Seth nor Martha want to be deceitful at first with that plan, but end up doing so through interesting circumstances. As they spend more and more time together, they realize they have quite a bit in common and enjoy each other's company. The reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 was because I felt that Martha would have/should have been more honest with her parents, especially with this being among the Amish community.

The Farmer's Bride is about Martha who wants to cast away all the suiters in her community so she pretends to be with Seth who is kinda the out cast in the community when the two get to know know another sparks fly and it is lovely!

When I opened the cover of The Farmer's Bride to begin to read it, I felt as if I'd just entered the living room of a most treasured friend to have a cup of kaffi. Kathleen Fuller really knows how to make a reader feel comfortable in reading her books.

Martha has an unusual problem. While her family is urging her to find a husband, and all the single men in her community are eager to apply for the position, she doesn't like the way all of them are pursuing her. The only man not chasing her is Seth--a man who has some secrets and doesn't really want to be involved with a maedel. Cevilla, the community matchmaker, has determined that Martha and Seth should match up just fine.

In trying to avoid all of the men, Martha stumbled upon Seth's work shack where he carved on wood. As Cevilla's plans move into motion, Martha asks Seth to teach her to carve wood, too. It is hard because the shack is supposed to be Seth's secret place and he doesn't entirely trust Martha to keep his secret.

This is a five star book, with two thumbs up, and a wood carving to decorate your home.

It was cute...but very predictable.

I thought Martha was a little dramatic in the beginning (running as soon as the boys approached her house?). Maybe if we would have seen more about how they kept coming to her I would feel differently, but not as it's currently written.

The ending felt unfinished between the other two characters we saw (Liam and Nina I think). I'm assuming their story may be next but if that's the case I think too much was shared in this one).
