A fun book to read, well written with characters that have depth and interest . Story is well put together and flows nicely.

This is a purely subjective review, as I'm a reader that needs a bit more of a hook to really sink into a story. After reading the blurb and looking at the pretty cover (it's gorgeous!), I was really excited to dig in.

In the end, I honestly just didn't connect. At about 9% in, much of the story was still in dialogue and I couldn't find any strong anchors to connect to the character or the world. I prefer a little more development to really get immersed. May be great for my readers who prefer stronger dialogue and sparse world-building.

Blood of Olthetta is a novella. A man goes to the city to find adventure. He is robbed and must find a job for money to return home. Working at a book store.he meets a woman. He soon discovers that the government is banning books and persecuting some people because of their blood lines. The woman, his love interest, is one of the persecuted. This is a story of hope, love and despair. Seeing the ruling class banning whatever they choose and persecuting whomever they like, is eye opening. What gives them the right to do this? The story unfolds at a good pace and is very intriguing. The characters are likeable and sympathetic. a good short read that will make you question some things. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

A powerful short story of racism, politics, control, and a power of word.
It's a story of how with the help of propaganda, and control of what people are reading, what is available for people to read the government is spreading their beliefs and prejudice against a group of people, in this case called the Bloods. A man called Patrick, who by chance becomes friends with some Bloods - his employer, and another woman who both teach him how to think for himself and question the authority. He sees through the lies and tries to help spread the truth on what is happening in their town.
Powerful ideas, in a short format.
