This is my first time reading a book by Jennifer Woodhull, and I am very interested in reading more of her work. I read it in about 24 hours, and enjoyed it a lot. The storyline was a new take on an old theme: Friends-with-Benefits, but with a fun twist. I liked “Cheese” and “Max” very much. I enjoyed their relationships with their friends and family, especially “Alexander’s” spunky grandma.

There were a few jaw-dropping “no way!” moments, and an expected twist. A couple of times, something happened that maybe crossed the line into unbelievability. For the most part, this was a fun, interesting, fast-paced story. This author writes “sexy times” really well, and I’ve found that not all authors do. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this terrific book.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

The Dating Alternative is a cute and fun book. I adored both Brie and Max (though I could have done without him calling her Cheese all the time). They were a cute couple that due to timing just never got together until now. There was a surprising development at the end, the story shifted a bit, but I enjoyed that part of the story as well.

I appreciated that it was a fast paced read, nothing dragging on for too long. Brie and Max's friends were also a lot of fun and I wouldn't mind a book about any of them in the future!

I received The Dating Alternative for free through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was the first time I have read anything by Jennifer Woodhull, and I really enjoyed it. I didn't expect to like it so much. It was cute and funny and steamy and I didn't want to put it down. Will definitely look for more by her in the future to read.

When I read the blurb for The Dating Alternative by Jennifer Woodhull, I knew I wanted to read it. A jilted woman, by her ex-fiancé who apparently forget he was engaged, is now looking for a no-strings casual affair. A relationship is the last things she wants right now. You just know this story is going to have all the feels!

Brie is taking a break from dating. I mean she picked the absolutely wrong guy to want to marry and now she just wants to enjoy being single. So, she decides to have some light and casual fun. Enter Max. Max and Brie have known each other for a while and have enjoyed flirting with each other. Now they are both single. Max is ready to be the man she needs right now, but the more time he spends with her, the more he wants from her. What’s a guy to do?

The Dating Alternative by Jennifer Woodhull was a very enjoyable read. I loved Max and Brie so much. Max was just so sweet and charming. Brie was hesitant at first as she is trying to safeguard her heart. But as soon as these two connected, you felt the sparks fly! I loved their banter and journey so much. Overall a fun and sexy read!

I would like to start by saying Thankyou to the author, publisher and Netgalley for providing me with this copy of the dating alternative for my ereader for free in return for my review.
I really enjoyed this book. I read it in a day. Once I started I just didn't want to put it down.
We are following the story of Brie (Sabrina/cheese) and her friend Max (Alexander) through their journey of discovering one another.
Brie and Max have always liked one another but never been single at the same time. Now for once they are both single at the same time. Max is ready to start dating after coming out of a crappy relationship while Brie is still not quite ready to start dating. Her fiancé left her just before their wedding.
From the beginning I was able to fall in love with both these characters. They are such loveable people and it just kept me reading more. I was routing for Max and Brie to become an item straight away.
Brie is not ready for dating but still had decided that being without sex is not really an option anymore and wants to find something more casual. So with the encouragement of her besties she downloaded an app to her phone. She went on a "date" with a guy called Ladd and it all seemed to be going well to begin with. She was going to leave with him until he spiked her drink. Max came to the rescue and from there the rest is history.
Max tries to woo Brie over with his charms to make her realise he is the one for her.
I really loved the plot in this story, character descriptions are great. It is made to feel that you are part of the story! Following Brie and her horrible job and how everything works out for her in the end is great. Also following Max and his journey is great as well, and finding how things work out for him in his career is great as well. I think however my favourite character would be Max's grandmother. She is sassy and cheeky and the most funniest and lovely character you could meet! I would highly recommend this book but it is not for the younger reader due to sex scenes within it. But I loved it!

*I RECEIVED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK FROM NETGALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

When Brie's fiance unexpectedly leaves her for another woman three weeks before their wedding, she is left heartbroken, emotional and sexually frustrated. Her girlfriends take it upon themselves to convince her that a dating app is the best way to relieve her of her dry spell and find a man who is just into sex, nothing else. After her first blind date slips something in her drink, a friendly bartender comes to her rescue.

Enter Max, the bartender who has spent years flirting with Brie, and falling for her from afar. The two hatch a plan to have an "alternative" relationship. Nothing but sex and the occasional dinner together. However, sooner than later, one of them will fall.

I absolutely LOVED this book. L-O-V-E-D it! I was seriously disappointed to learn this was not part of a series. The romance was so sweet, it felt real. The relationship between the various characters felt like I was reading about old friends. Also, where can I get a real life Max?!

your typical romance book, not bad but there isnt enough plot twist and surprise factors. I mean this is a nice chill light hearted read for me and I still like it ! not your die hard romance book.

After her fiance walks out just weeks before their wedding, Brie isn't ready for another relationship. After her friends convince her that what's good for the goose is good for the gander, she decides to give something more casual a try. When the good-looking guy she has flirted with for years keeps popping up, she's tempted. She may not be ready for dating, but Max is happy to offer her an alternative.

Brie and Max have circled each other for years, but the timing has never been right. When both of them are single maybe it's finally right, but Brie isn't ready for the full-time relationship Max wants with Brie. The banter between the two of these characters was wonderful. In between the lust haze, they are friends with interesting stories and full backgrounds. Woodhull weaves an intriguing story between both characters trying to go after what they want.

Perfect for romance fans looking for a happily ever after.

The cover is amazing, the blurb sounded divine. I was really looking forward to reading this one.

But, it just didn't work for me. The characters were much too similar - Brie's fiance left her for another woman 6 months ago. Max caught his fiance cheating on him 7 months ago... While I like them both and wish them all the happiness in the world, their voices are nearly identical and I'm finding myself having to skim back to see who's thoughts I'm privy to at the moment.

While I love the idea for the story, I think it's the writing style that's bothering me. At 26% in I'm seeing way too many short, choppy, factual sentences. They didn't flow well and I found it difficult to connect.

In some ways these are the hardest reviews to write because, I can see the potential. The plot as I've seen so far is absolutely something I would love. But overall, I think it needs a couple very brutal rounds with an editor.

DNF 26%

This is the first book by Jennifer Woodhull that I have read and I absolutely loved it. I loved Brie and Alex(Max) together. Alex was just the perfect guy that we all wish we had. Sexy, smart, dirty talker and so in love with Brie or as he likes to call her Cheese. Brie was a great person and I love that even though she went into her arrangement with Alex she wasn’t closed off enough to not see what a good thing she had with him. You could feel the chemistry and attraction between them when they bumped into each other at the bar where Alex was working. When they came up with this arrangement and started it it was HOT! Like I said before- Alex is a great dirty talker and Brie really liked it!
I liked how Alex didn’t play games with Brie and basically laid all his cards on the table on how he felt about her and what he wanted from her. And Brie kept an open mind about what he told her. When I was reading the last chapter of the book I had a smile on my face the whole time. It made me happy and was the perfect ending for this couple.

Thanks to Netgalley, and Jennifer for providing me with a digital copy of The Dating Alternative. I loved the premise, and synopsis. It sounded fun, and light. The readers can really empathize with Sabrina's dating situation. Max is very charming.

I was having a bit of difficultly with how a few things were written. Some of Max's dialog/inner monologue didn't seem consistent with how a guy speaks. More like what a woman thinks a guy thinks like. The crude language seems bit forced as well.

The steamy scenes were exciting, and the tension was felt absolutely. Sometimes the alternative words used for body parts were distracting to me as a reader. I found myself trying to figure out which words they were substituting. Sometimes they were unnecessary. Alluding to the body parts, or gesture sometimes is more exciting. Then, specifying every single time.

I loved sassy Nana. She was a great touch, introducing the readers to how reliable and lovable Max is. I mean who doesn't love it when a potential love interest genuinely cares for their family. I need a little Nana in my life. What a firecracker!

It was okay for a quick romance read. I really liked Sabrina. It was a bit annoying how Max was always using her nickname, like constantly. Maybe take a break on that and use her name or something, because reading cheese a million times on each page is a bit annoying. Also, his inner monologues toward her were pretty blah.

After Brie was abandoned by her the fiancé just three weeks before the wedding, her friends think what she needs to move on is a lot of casual sex, several one-night stands, to just relax and enjoy.

This was a sweet and sexy second chance romance. that I think readers will enjoy!

I loved this book. Max and Cheese were made for each other. Her ex fiancé is a jerk and never deserved her. Loved it

Brie and Max are just a delight. Love doesn't always work out the first time around, and these two remind you that things really can work out in the world of love. Brie is struggling with the idea of dating after her fiance walks out on her right before they are to be married, but her friends think that she would benefit from getting back into the dating world. Enter Max, a part of her friend group for many years, who wants to date Brie, not just have a fling, and fall in love with the characters from there!

Ok, so I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters, the banter, the writing... my ONE gripe is that the hero continuously called the Heroine her nickname. Which started out cute, but imo Just got to be a little much.

I read this book and was very impressed at the writing style. I loved the characters first of all, they were great individually and together they were amazing. A funny romantic story with plenty of heat and steamy scenes that just sizzle throughout the story. Just sit back and enjoy! Definitely recommend

2 stars. I love a good contemporary romance, and as far as this one goes, it’s not terrible. The writing isn’t bad (with some exceptions, that I’ll get to), and the characters were likeable.

But for two reasons, I just couldn’t enjoy this book;

1) I’m an accountant, and all plot related to Brie’s job as an accountant was so far off base, I almost couldn’t keep reading. From the basic (the test isn’t called “the AUD” - that’s the abbreviation for the Audit section of the CPA exam) to the completely off base (Brie seems to be doing the accounting for the companies AND auditing their books AND getting access to all of their bank accounts!?!?!?!) to the downright ludicrous (spoilers redacted, but the last 25% of the book isn’t anywhere close to being something that would ever happen), I just wondered why the author hadn’t picked something that she knew anything about.
2) The text message exchanges between these two educated adults were written like they were horny pre-teens. No 30-something male who graduated law school would ever text like that.

On the plus side, this book is a super quick read that I finished in about two hours.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
