The second installment of this series was good, but I dearly loved the first book so it set a high bar which unfortunately, this second book could not overcome. It is still full of the wonderful world building and recognizable characters, just did nit strike me with as much awe as the first book.

I really enjoyed this and will recommend it. The plot is well thought out and I really couldn’t put it down.

Picking up soon after The Queen's Wing, we find ourselves once more in a land of danger and constant tension. This band of characters have their futures spread out before them in a path that takes them on unexpected journeys. The characters are fun and interesting to follow as you travel on this new adventure. While the writing style is easy to read, it still kept my attention while allowing the story to shine.

Okay, this book did not disappoint!
Though I had mixed feelings about this because Bel isn't the main character but rather Petra, I'm still glad we got to see plenty of Bel and Con.
This author sure does have a thing for love triangles though, but she does it really well. I always like both love interests although I always have a clear favorite
I sincerely hope this isn't the last book in the series though! I'd love a book about Teel, or Art, because I'm dying to know how they end up! I just love the rich world the author created so much.
The whole concept of the hive mind, crystals, stones and mind-control can be a bit complex at times though.

This is definitely more science fiction than fantasy.
It is a brilliant sequel to the Queen's wing and carries on directly from where Queen's Wing finishes.
The characters are brilliant and I would certainly recommend reading Queen's wing prior to this, just so you have more back ground on the characters.
Such an easy read I cannot wait for more from this author.

So when looking at this book, I will say i did enjoy it. But not as much as book 1. Now the main issues i had was with the diving of chapters between the different characters. I found myself wanting to jump to my favorite characters chapters and skip the others. But all in all I would say this was a good book. .
Pros to this book:
fast read
lovable characters
magic system

Believe me when I tell you that you NEED this book! A unique magic system, an awesome group of characters, loads of action, conflicted heroes, frightening adversaries – It’s all here! I enjoyed reading it very much and would recommend to all fantasy lovers!

I'm really disappointed in this sequel. The first book was filled with such wonder and life. I enjoyed as Bel learned more and more about Anthaeus and watching her and Con's relationship blossom. This book was so lacklustre when compared to what the first book had.

My biggest issue is splitting the PoVs between Bel and Petra. I get why it was done, I can see the reasoning behind it, but Bel and Petra are basically the same characters just with different names and different love interests. In book 1, Bel inherited the title of Princess and was forced into a marriage she didn't want as it was supposed to be her late cousin marrying Con. Petra is given the title of General in book 2 and doesn't think she deserves it because of how young she is. Bel and Petra both hate wearing dresses. Bel and Petra are described exactly the same. Bel had a love triangle between Con and Shae. Petra has a love triangle between Zander and Teel. They have the same personalities. And it made it really boring and hard to get through.

Petra goes on and on in the book about this terrible thing her father did and how she'll never live it down. Don't find out what it is until 64% through the book, and I'll be honest, my first thoughts were 'So what?' because it didn't seem as bad a Petra had made it out to be the entirety of the book. OH and to make the whole thing even sillier, the terrible thing her father did is the reason she can't be with Zander in her mind.

And the plot had interesting points. I would have really enjoyed the religious cult take over along with the mysterious illness plotline a bit more if I hadn't been bored to tears by the characters.

I really wanted this book to be more. To be better.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This one picks up right where the first one left off. This is Petra's time to shine and she does very well. She is going through her own stuff trying to remain as loyal as she can and find a way to mend her brokenheart There is whole new thing that is coming for the land. Will they overcome this danger? You will have to read and find out. I want more from this author. Love the writing style.

I love this Book. When I read fue first book in this series.. I was completely in love, and now the second one.. it's amazing.

The characters are unique and unforgivable.

The reading was really easy and fast. The book catches your attention from the first page.

It's an awesome job.

While the first book in the series focussed on Princess Bel, this second helping revolves around her trusted general, Petra Kel. Petra is an amazing character, strong and clever, and it was great to read more about her. When the kingdom comes under attack from a mysterious source and Bel is taken out of commission, Petra and her men, especially the rouge-ish Zander, work hard to save the world they love.
This is a fun romp through space with a misfit band of characters, which is like catnip for me. A series definitely worth picking up for a carefree, entertaining read.

This was a great read and I loved it! It was great to see how Bel and Con are getting on with their lives and wedding after the attacks on their planet. We also get some insight into Petra and her live before the attacks.

I really enjoyed the writing here and the look into other characters as well and the introduction of new characters such as Val and Zander. I also enjoyed learning more about the Rondet.

I find it hard to tell you all about how much I enjoyed it without sounding like I’m gushing. It is a fantastic read and continues a great series. I cannot wait until the next book comes out. Jessica Thorne is a fantastic writer and i will definitely be rereading this series at some point.

Excellent next chapter of a fab series.
I loved the first book in this series - and this was exactly the right second chapter in the story.
The world building is great - and the characters are engaging. There's lots of action, adventure, romance... and a surprise near the end that almost had me reaching for the tissues.
Book three ? Please....

As a continuance of a Fantasy Series, it is best to read the first book before this one. That being said, you may be able to garner enough of an understanding to read this one as a stand-alone (I'd still not recommend this).

The Stone's Wing, revolves around Bel, who wants nothing more than to become a flyer - like her older brothers. But, born on the fringe of royalty Bel was trained to be Princess. One day, after talking her governess into it, Bel took her Wasp out on a flight - but while she was gone her city was attacked. As a result, majority of the Royal Family was decimated - leaving Bel's father as the new King. Being the daughter of a King, Bel is betrothed in order to secure an alliance with another planet. Together, they travel to his country amidst fighting for their life.

This second novel largely lends to the story-line of the first, expanding the world and developing characters through the introduction of new voices. After overthrowing the attackers, Bel takes her place as leader of her new world. With the help of General Petra Kel, they battle (and thwart) the meany threats coming towards them.

Passively, the two voices seem fairly similar, which gets a little confusing and muddle-some.Through the developmental movements of characterisation, Thorne manages to build both worlds, and people who are intriguing and thought-provoking, whilst not detracting from the overall thematic aspects. As novels go, this one contains fully-fledged characters, who develop their own hopes, dreams and emotions throughout.

While the beginning sets a slow pace, similar to the first novel it picks up, and kicks off.

*ARC received from NetGalley in return for an honest review*

I have so many mixed feelings about this book. The Queen's Wing was one of my favorite books from last year. It had war, romance, and a kickass heroine all things I love in a book. While Petra is still kickass everything else fell a little flat in comparison. I made it about 40% of the way through on my first reading and then had to set it down because the love triangle was too much to handle. It took me three months to pick the book back up and give it a second chance. While I am happy I got to finish off Bel and Con's story, Petra's still seems a little undone. Having it end up being a poly romance would have been a perfect ending. Instead, I am just left confused on if Zander and Teel were really a thing or not due to that being so up in the air.

In the end, I would suggest the first book to many people and only add in the fact that there is a sequel if that person really loved Bel and Con. If not then I would happily let this book lie forgotten and hope that if there is a third book it can save the series.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first book in this series and despite a lot of confusing scientific/fantasy/created from thin air mumbo jumbo, this was a great follow up. I loved getting more info on the Rondet and their world. I liked more detail about Petra and Zander! However, I feel like this story was a little more convoluted than it needed to be. The Imperial Mecha drama along with the Coparius just felt like too much.

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this one just as much, if not more than it’s predecessor. This is a fantastic series! The author just does such an incredible job of world building and it doesn’t take much to fall in love with and get deeply attached to the characters.

This novel focuses more on Petra, aka General Kel and her romantic past with Bel’s brother Lysander. When an ancient evil threatens to destroy their world and everyone in it, they must come together to fight it and uncover other attempts at a coupe in the empire.

Edge of your seat suspense with just the right amount of Romance. I need another book in the series ASAP!

Nice fantasy YA, lots of action.
The plot, same as in the first one, takes a bit to pick up the pace, but once it does, it's just non-stop from there. The characters are still as good as in the first one, specially the Elders.
I'm not gonna lie, I was disappointed when the story started from Petra's POV,but then I went on to see Bell still had some chapters, and so all was well and good.
The thing I missed the most was the romantic aspect, as we didnt't see much of Zander.

This novel takes place not long after the events of the first one and follows not only Bel’s point of view but also Petra, who has recently been promoted to General of the Queen’s Guard. I this book we get to learn more about the world which I loved and the romances in this are so good. However, it took me a while to really get into this and I didn’t love this as much as the first one.

Overall, I enjoyed this books and gave this 3 out of 5 stars.
