Once again I was in tears at this one. If you read my reviews regularly you'll know that this is my favourite series and opening the pages of a DI Kim Stone book feels like I'm at a family reunion. I feel so connected to and invested in these characters they are like family!

It's funny how a crime series can make me cry so much, but that's testament to Marsons' writing and skill that she has created a team so brilliant.

Back in the early books, Kim Stone is a hard-as-nails detective who has no close friends, no family, and who is so far detached from any form of bond to anyone, it's almost unbelievable she's in the police force.

As the series has progressed, we've seen her develop into someone who has a much deeper side to her and slowly, it's starting to come to the fore. She is brilliant. She is amazing.

The team she works with have been through some difficult times recently, and in book ten, they are set to face one of their hardest challenges yet.

Someone from Kim's past has discovered everything about her. Things she thought no one else knew, and they are using this information to hurt her, and others.

Kim has always been such a private person that this information being shared with her team, them seeing her through new eyes, is hard for her to handle. She thinks they will look at her differently from now on and she's terrified of what they'll think of her now.

The team are literally in a race against time to find out who wants Kim dead so badly, and to be fair, there is a long list of people it could be. But whoever it is, they are taking their revenge on Kim out on random strangers. This is devastating for Kim, she has spent her life protecting people and now, something she has done is making someone kill people.

Marsons has managed to keep this series fresh and new and wonderful.

Each book is a rollercoaster of a thrill-fest - it is, by far, the best police procedural series out there and deserves its phenomenal success.

There isn't a character who disappoints, a plot that doesn't add up … there isn't anything about these books that shouldn't be celebrated.

I love these books, I love Kim Stone, and most of all, I love Marsons' writing. She is amazing!

You absolutely need to read this series.

In this 10th D.I. Kim Stone book, someone is recreating several of Kim's most traumatic events in her life. She feels responsible for the deaths, as well as trying to figure out who is punishing her with these memories. Her boss hires a psychologist to keep an eye on Kim during the investigation, but she also provides some good information to the team. What is the end game for this sadistic killer? The team investigates criminals who Kim has been responsible for their incarceration, as well as their family members, but they are still at a loss, until Kim figures it out, just a bit too late. Will someone else she knows have to die before they bring the murderer to justice?

I always love seeing how Kim and her team work to solve the cases they are working on. It is a team effort all the way, although Kim is the one people blame as she is the leader. As Kim and the team try to determine who is behind the recent deaths, we revisit previous cases. It seems that one little clue that Stacey susses out could change the direction of the investigation and move them forward. That is one of the things I love about these books. Each member of the team moves the investigation along and each book has a different person shine. There are a lot of psychological bits that also help to bring the story to an end. This is another well plotted police procedural that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. The list of suspects is long, as there are a lot of people who hold serious grudges against Kim. The prison scenes were difficult to read, but the book is realistic and at times chilling. There is a dangerous show down when Kim finally figures it all out and goes off on her own, but as there are still many more books in the series, I knew she would survive. Another great addition to the series.

Dead Memories by Angela Marsons

This is a D. I. Kim Stone series book. In this story you learn a lot about Kim Stone's life because someone is trying to recreate the worst things that happened to her. Kim Stone goes after the criminals with everything she has including sometimes blurring the lines to get the results in a case. This is causing Kim to go back and look at people she previously put away. The new cases are so close to home to Kim that they are that similar which has Kim racing to try to figure it out. It seems her team is struggling to keep it together, but they hold a united front while attempting to protect their boss from harm. Penn is fitting in well, and Kim and Bryant’s relationship continues to grow. My favorite parts of the book is seeing how each one covers the other and how they work together.

This is my first Angela Marsons Book and it will not be my last book. I enjoyed the story even though there are gruesome scenes in the book. Kim is in serious danger of coming unraveled. This is a highly octane mystery and I had no idea who was behind the crimes. The team works with Alison a profiler to help with the case.

I will plan and go back and read more from the series. I recommend this series even if you have not read anything before from this author it is still worth reading. I love these type of mysteries it feels a little different then normal ones it sort of feels real the characters are likable you believe in their skills and ability to solve the case.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a free copy of this book for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

There is a terrible scene about to face Detective Kim Stone. As she approaches, fellow officers try to block her entrance. The situation is that there are two teens chained to a radiator, and only one of them is alive. This scenario is chillingly similar to something Kim herself experienced with her brother Mikey thirty years before, in the very same neighborhood.

Then, another crime scene is drawn to her attention. This involves the bodies of a middle-aged couple found in a car that has burned. Well, this is how people Kim knew as her parents died. Kim knows for certain that these two crimes are connected. That is without a doubt. What Kim must ascertain, and rather quickly at that, is why this killer is recreating horrid experiences from her past.

While Kim begins her investigation, she enlists the aid of profiler Alison Lowe. Having her own team should be more than enough for Kim, but she is forced to depend on Alison's help. Will Kim get to the bottom of things before the killer finally turns his attention on her?

This fast-moving story was filled with twists and turns and had a heart-stopping conclusion. Dead Memories is the 10th book in the compelling D.I. Kim Stone series. This book, which could do well as a standalone, is a fine addition to the series. Readers, however, might want to take the time to read this excellent series from the very beginning, and then move on to book 11, as I did, which is Child's Play.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Absolute nothing short of what I was expecting, gripping, thrilling and totally immersive.

if you want a book to read that you can put down and pick up when you have a spare 5 minutes DON'T pick this one!
You won't want to put it down until you have finished.
It's fast and hard on your emotions and packed full of intrigue, heart racing\hold your breath moments.
Don't miss this! Another fabulous read (book 10) from Angela Marsons

This book was tough. We have gotten glimpses of Detective Kim Stone's personal life throughout the series but haven't gotten the full picture before and this book seems to open that up. There is a killer who is portraying timepoints from Kim's life, in a cruel way. This book was hard to put down, and I read through it really fast. It was a great addition to this series, I love how the characters all interact with each other. Another great book for the series!

An absolute blinder- another corker from Angela Marsons. The heat is turned up this time with a series of unpleasant events that are reminiscent of other equally unpleasant events. Without giving too much away, these are all very personal and the race is on to narrow down the suspects and stop them escalating. An interesting side plot with new girl Alison who’s not convinced by the outcome of a previous case is interesting - and necessary to invest you in the character. A thrilling, twists and turns book which could be read standalone but is best within the series as you’ve read the backstories (although admittedly it’s been a while since I’ve read the previous Kim Stone books!)

5* A really thumping good read!

DEAD MEMORIES (D.I. Kim Stone Book #10) by Angela Marsons is a British police procedural that never fails to keep my nose in the book from start to finish. I know I can pick up a D.I. Kim Stone book and be engrossed by both some of my favorite characters and an intricate plot.

In this addition to the series, there is an unknown person recreating every traumatic event from Kim’s past down to the smallest detail. Someone wants to emotionally destroy Kim and Kim and her team believe the finale will be her death.

Kim has spent years catching and caging dangerous criminals. Now, she and her team need to sift through all the possible suspects from her past in a race to save her life.

I am never disappointed by a book in this series! By the time an author gets to this many books in a series it can become stale, but not this one. Angela Marsons has written a protagonist that is emotionally complex, strong and lives for the justice she provides for the victims she stands for. Her team is not just filler, but each has their unique qualities and characteristics which make them as integral to my love of these stories as Kim. This plot brought back all the villains I have loved to hate and still Kim comes out on top with the help of her team.

I can highly recommend this addition to the D.I. Kim Stone series and really the whole series! If you have not read any of these books, you are definitely missing out on one of the best series in this genre.

Thanks very much to Bookouture and Net Galley for allowing me to read this eARC for review.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of the story.

I was not familiar with this series when I requested this book from Netgalley- if you are a fan of serial mysteries like Patricia Cornwall or Sue Grafton, this series is something you will enjoy.

This is an intense, emotional mystery -
Someone is "re-creating" Kim's traumatic childhood.

Kim, the main character is not one to casually share stories of her life, which makes it difficult to explain to her team the strange events taking place. Kim is forced to communicate and fully trust her team to have her back.

They are racing against the clock to find out who is behind these murders before someone else is killed.

This book can be read as a standalone mystery but I recommend you read the rest of the series to see how Kim grows as a person, as a detective.

Dead Memories by Angela Marsons (D.I. Kim Stone #10)

Wow!
Anyone who has been following this D.I. Kim Stone series will already know a fair bit of Kim Stone's history by now, so when she is called to investigate a crime scene in Chaucer House...on the fourth floor...involving two young teens chained to a radiator...you can feel the hair on the back of her neck begin to prickle and it takes all of her will to maintain some semblance of composure.

When she finds that the boy is dead and the girl is fighting for her life, Kim is overwhelmed with emotions as her past rushes to catch up with her.
Someone has exactly mimicked her very real childhood nightmare where she and her little brother Mikey were chained to the radiator in this very same building thirty years ago.
Kim has never forgiven herself for surviving that horror when she was unable to save her little brother.
When soon after a middle aged couple are found in a burnt out car, Kim knows without a doubt that someone is recreating events from her tragic past.

As she struggles with the rush of traumatic memories brought on by these discoveries, Kim's colleagues worry about her ability to work this case from a professionally detached position.
For Kim, this case is mentally and emotionally challenging in every possible way as these crimes are clearly orchestrated to rattle and unnerve her specifically.

Is the killer coming for her also? And will she be able to remain detached enough to work this case?

This is the 10th book in the D.I. Kim Stone series and I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them, and would be hard pressed to pick a favourite, but... dare I say, I think this one might just be it!
As always fantastic writing from Angela Marsons who's attention to detail never ceases to amaze me, she leaves no stone unturned and no room for doubt.

Another very well deserved 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s from this brilliant crime writer.

Many thanks to Netgalley for my copy to read and review.

I love Angela Marsons' Kim Stone series, it's my favourite read at the moment. I feel like savouring her books and I don't want to read them for not having the next book to read, but I can only hold off for so long!! Another amazing book and storyline. Angela has the gift to grip you from the first line, and I love her short chapters. When it's getting close to catching the killer she keeps you reading and I felt like I was on the edge of my seat with this one just needing to know who it was. Kim's past is a tragic one but it was interesting re-reading about it and again, never guessed who the killer was. I love all of the characters, especially Stacy and Bryant. He is an amazing partner in crime with Kim. An amazing read again and I cannot wait for her next book. Thank you for accepting my request for an honest review, I'd recommend this book and series to anyone and I've give more than 5* if I could!

Another great read in the Kim Stone series. Gripping and full of tension. I'd recommend reading the previous books as the plot has a lot of references back to past events and I feel that trying to read it as a standalone wouldn't work as the events aren't fully explained, just referred to.

You will NEED to read this first NINE (Silent Scream, Evil Games, Lost Girls, Play Dead, Blood Lines, Dead Souls, Broken Bones, Dying Truth & Fatal Promise) books in this series before reading this book or even review as it will spoil some things. Honestly this is one of the best Detective series out there and if you have not picked it up yet you should.

In this installment of the D. I. Kim Stone series, we get to see some of the most traumatic events in Kim's Life recreated:

Those who D.I. Kim has arrested, many of them believe that she ruined their lives, prevented them from living the life they want, doing the things they wanted to and for that she needs to pay. Kim's traumatic past is about to be laid out for her but she wants to keep her team at arms length as this is personal. Woody knows the most about Kim's past and he wants to make sure that she is okay so he has assigned Alison Lowe back to the team for some incite not only into the perpetrator but Kim as well. With each new event and victim, Kim cannot help but blame herself for what is happening, and the pool of suspects seems to be getting larger not smaller. The Killer has an endgame and it is all about Kim and how the killer chooses to end it.

Honestly, I cannot believe that we are already on Book 10 in this series and Marsons is still publishing books that are interesting, different and engrossing. As this is book 10 you can think of the number of people that Kim has put away in this series so far and it was trip down memory lane from all the previous books and some of your "favourite", most cunning and violent criminals are back (no not Alex again, but she is mentioned). I guess what I liked most about this book is Marsons' acknowledging that even though these people are charged and have a trial they will eventually get out of prison and still have hatred to the person who put them away.

We do not get to know more about Kim's past as we as the readers have heard of the Kim's past before and the majority of these event that are presented in this book, maybe there is a bit more detail but not much. Where we see growth in this book is her team fully understanding what Kim has gone through to get where she is now, and I think a growing respect and trust between Kim and her team.

Liked that Alison Lowe was back and I hope that she stays part of the team as I think she adds a dynamic that was missing before. Manly questioning Kim a lot and just bringing a whole new perspective to how they treat their chase and narrow down who the suspect is. And yes questioning Kim is a good things, I know Bryant does at times but Kim just pushes him off when he say something that she dose not agree with. Additionally, Alison is the individual who has a side case running in this book and it showed more of her personality and what she was willing to go through to make sure the right person is arrested. I know I said it before but I hope that Marsons keeps her around.

In a way I feel like this book closed a chapter in Kim's life and story here. If this were the last book in this series I would be okay with it as I feel like Kim has grown as much as she can and has shared as much as she can. This book also summarized the successes and failures that Kim and her team have had over the 9 previous books and it was a tribute to the good work that everyone on the team had done. I know there is another book after this one and I will be reading this series.

Enjoy!!!

Today I am reviewing the tenth book in “Kim Stone” series, written by my favourite author Angela Marsons. Each one in the series is even better than the previous one, and this one is not an exeption. I absolutely love Angela Marsons’ books, so here is my review for book number ten.

This time Detective Kim Stone and her team have a very personal case to solve. Two teenagers are found in a building chained to a radiator. The boy is dead but the girl is alive. Not many people know, but this is same image from Kim’s childhood, when she and her little brother were tied to a radiator by their mentally ill mother. Her brother died, and Kim survived. It is not just the same scene, but also the same building.

Case number two, husband and wife are found in a burnt-out car. Same scene like when Kim’s foster parents died. This can’t be a coincidence. Someone is taking his/her revenge on Kim Stone. Someone who knows her past very well. And those are people she can count on fingers on one hand.

Who hates her that much? Who wants to hurt her in the worst possible way? Who involves innocent teenagers and middle aged people just to hurt one person?

From the writting pen of an excellent crime writer, here comes the creepiest of all books in the series. And I love it! I enjoyed every single page till the end! It’s creepy, it makes the hair on your neck stand, it makes you read and read and read! You can’t stop! I know I couldn’t. Sometimes when there are many books in the series, the stories become dull and not interesting anymore. This is not the case! I can never be bored with Kim Stone as a main character. Book number #11 is already out and I can’t wait to read it! Totally recommended!
