I would rate this novel a solid 4-1/2 stars! You would think after 10 books that the format would get stale ...but no, Ms. Marsons's Kim Stone and company seems to get better and better! Each book seems to peel back one more layer of Kim Stone that we had not heard about in other books! In future books, I do hope Kim finds some well earned peace and maybe someone to share it with (hint, hint!!) I do agree with fellow reviewers ...it is best to read the books from start to finish ...there is just a bit more clarity in reading it in proper order! Anything from this author is gold and if you love this genre, you won't be disappointed

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest and unbiased report

A series that keeps getting better and better. Another feather in the cap for Kim Stone series. 5 Stars !!

For those of you who haven't tried these series, please do check it out. Mild spoilers ahead for those who haven't read the previous books.

Typically , I would say any book from this series can be a standalone novel.  But to understand how amazing this book is, you have to read the other books in the series. Even for someone who has read every book in the series, it was difficult to re-collect some of the characters. So DON'T read this book without reading the other books in the series.

‘Someone is recreating every traumatic point in your life. They are doing this to make you suffer, to make you hurt and the only possible end game can be death. Your death.’

The book begins when someone starts re-creating traumatic events from Kim Stone's life. Two teenagers, found dead in an apartment. Boy dead, girl alive. Every detail of the crime scene reminds Kim of her childhood trauma. Later, When the bodies of a middle-aged couple are discovered in a burnt-out car, Kim can’t ignore the chilling similarity to the deaths of Erica and Keith – the only loving parents Kim had ever known.Someone wants to remind her the things she didn't want to remember. The things that she put inside a box and shut it tight. Someone wants to re-open it. Someone wants to hurt her. Could Kim maintain her sanity whilst hunting her most dangerous enemy?

Alison Lowe is re-introduced in this series for monitoring Kim's activity during the investigation. With this book, I can tell Penn has perfectly settled into the team ( Though I still miss Kev !). As with every book, Angela Marsons has created a complex plot and it keeps you guessing until the last page. Kim has pissed off so many people in the past and its very challenging to track every one of them. The only hard thing for me is to remember characters from the previous books.

The interpersonal relationships between Kim and her team and others working on the crimes are always what make this series so special. The way her team supports her, respects her is the part I love the most. Its beautiful to have a squad like that.Kim opens up a bit more to her team with this investigation and it makes them look at their boss in a different perspective. Stacey and Penn play are turning out into brilliant investigators.

As always I could never put down this book.  Another great addition to the series and I cant wait fr the next one!.  Thanks to Net galley for providing ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

DI Kim Stones and her team are back in book ten of the series. In this book, someone has it in for her - BIG TIME! Someone who is recreating events- traumatic events from Kim's life. How does this person know everything? Who can it be? Why? Kim has arrested many people, many have grudges, many had their lives changed due to this, who has the most anger and hatred for her? Not only does she have to re-visit the past events that happened in her life while trying to solve the cases, she also must work with profiler Allison Stone who will watching and observing Kim's behavior.

So, who could it be? That is the question! Kim has a huge I-hate-Di Kim Stone- fan club going on in this book. With her career and arrest record, she is not going to win any popularity contests with criminals. But who hates her enough, to create past crime scenes from her past to torment her? This is a book that had me guessing. As the clock is ticking and the suspect pool is narrowed down, I have to say I didn't guess it. Wonderfully written with characters who will grow on you and have you reading with your fingers crossed that they will solve the case in time!

It may be intimidating to see that there are 10 books in this series, I have not read them all, but I read enough to know some background on Kim, so I did not feel lost at all in this book. I do want to go back and read the others. What is nice is that the Author is so talented at writing compelling stories that I didn't feel as if I were missing anything and was able to fully enjoy this book.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Another fabulous book by Angela! By fabulous I mean entertaining, twisty, dark and thoroughly enjoyable.
However, two slight drawbacks for me:
1. A lot of characters (old and new) was a lot to try and remember
2. The chapter about Kim’s number 1 hater (forgotten his name - see above) pleasuring himself was odd and, I feel, unnecessary.

Dead Memories is book #10 of the extraordinary DI Kim Stone series. I have read them all and have awarded every one, including Dead Memories, 5 stars. I’d like to start off this review with a few general comments about the series.

What makes this collection of novels so remarkable? First of all, how many authors remain at the peak of their talent after book #10 of a series? Ms. Marsons has the exceptional ability to keep her stories fresh and compelling with new and engaging plotlines. Her plots often play off current issues mixed with a healthy dose of whatever is going on in Kim’s head. Furthermore, Ms. Marsons has a wonderful writing style. She does not waste words. Her dialogue is very realistic. Her books, though certainly not tomes, usually have around 100 short chapters, ensuring a fast pace. She always starts the book with a captivating prologue and ends with a satisfying last chapter or epilogue.

More importantly, Ms. Marsons has ensnared her readers into a love nest with her characters. Every time I come back to visit Kim and her colleagues, I feel I am coming home. And with each novel I feel I know them better and better as they continue to evolve and grow under the author’s pen. I love seeing how larger roles have been awarded to Kim’s colleagues, including Bryant, Stacey, and Kev, over the course of the series; and in more recent installments we have also been treated to the reappearance of several old characters from the past.

The chief psychopath in Dead Memories hates Kim with a passion and is murdering people in settings mirroring Kim’s difficult past. How does the baddie know these details? What exactly is the motive? How is Kim possibly going to run this investigation when there is so much emotion involved? Can her colleagues protect her? And how many people are going to end up dead “because of Kim”? I enjoyed this novel immensely for all of the reasons mentioned throughout this review. I also want to give the author props for again awarding substantial airtime to Stacey and for making us start to really care for Penn. Profiler and behaviorist Alison Lowe, brought back from The Lost Girls, is a terrific addition to this installment. And, of course, Kim’s ongoing inner battles are fascinating as always. Oh, and I will admit that once again Ms. Marsons fooled me big time. I have never succeeded in fingering the baddie(s) before the big reveal in any of the Kim Stone books.

This series is unreservedly recommended to all crime fiction/thriller fans. One caveat: this series must be read in order; the evolution of the characters, especially Kim, is critical to all the storylines.

Congratulations, Ms. Marsons, for your continued exceptional story- telling. Your books are the brightest beacons of my favorite genre.

When Amy Wilde and her boyfriend Mark are found dead handcuffed to a radiator in a block of flats Detective Inspector Kim Stone used to live she realises the similarities of when her and her brother are found in a flat a few floors down. As different events occur Kim and her team believe they are not coincidental and someone is recreating traumatic events in Kim Stone's life.
This is a book I couldn't put down. It makes you feel part of the team who tries to find out who is behind the crimes before anyone else gets hurt. A gripping read by Angela Marsons

In this latest instalment of the Kim Stone series we are given glimpses of the events in her early life that made her the woman she is today..... Someone is recreating scenes from her childhood and turning them into murders, but will Kim Stone reveal the links to herself to her team

Dead Memories is the 10th novel in the outstanding Kim Stone series and to my mind the best yet- though I've thought that every time but unbelievably Angela Marsons skill and talent for writing just goes from strength to strength, always giving the reader the crème de la crème of crime fiction for their enjoyment.

For Kim Stone her traumatic past has well and truly come back to haunt her as an unknown perpetrator is copying and reenacting shocking and deeply disturbing events from the past.

Dead Memories has it all - ingenious plot and storyline, plenty of action, red herrings ,nail biting tension and a fabulous mix of characters ranging from the downright evil and nasty to the ever protective and all out supporting and wonderful team of Stacey, Bryant and the relative new boy Penn.

Once again an absolutely fabulous read and certainly a highly recommended novel.
I can't wait to see what happens next for Kim and the team.

A definite 5stars all the way from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy for my independent and honest review.

This is the 10th book in the DI Kim Stone series and if anything they just keep getting better. I love this series and this ( probably until no.11) is the most exciting yet.
Someone is recreating the traumatic events of Kims childhood, incidents she has stored away in the recesses of her mind, too painfull to even think about.
Now someone is killing innocent people in situations that mirror Kims past. Their ultimate goal to finally kill the person they hate the most, Kim herself.
There are plenty of suspects to choose from, the trick will be uncovering the right one before its too late.
This is an action packed exciting read with a host of my favourite characters from previous books in the series together with Alison Lowe a profiler whos been called in to monitor Kims behaviour. Although we have met Alison before this time we learn much more about her.
This one had me on the edge of my seat I just couldnt put it down.
An absolutely gripping read, as always 5 stars from me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this as an ARC.

This is the 10th book of the Detective Inspector Kim Stone series. Whilst it can be read as a standalone novel, I would recommend reading them in order for continuity of the story and to avoid any spoilers!!

I was very excited to be given the opportunity to read this book. I’ve read the series right from the beginning and have lovely every single second of them all. The last two books in the series (books 8 and 9) have undoubtedly been the best yet, so I just knew I was going to love this one before I’d even started it. Sometimes when you get to this number of a series, the books start to go a bit ‘stale’, but not with this series! The books are fresher than fresh bread and are just as enjoyable!!

This books brings you straight into the action when two teenagers are found chained to a radiator in a high rise flat, one dead and one barely alive. The scene perfectly mirrors DI Kim Stone’s own childhood experience when she lived in the same tower block thirty years before. From then on, Kim finds she is faced with finding a killer who is recreating traumatic events from her life. Who could possibly know so much about her? It’s down to Kim and her team to work out who hates Kim so much that they want to destroy her.

Kim is still my favourite character ever! She’s not an easy character to understand as she likes to keep her emotions and feelings very close to her chest, but I love the way she doesn’t take any rubbish from anyone. This book though does show us that she’s not as tough and ballsy as she makes out when she is faced with the memories of so many traumatic events from her life. I fail to understand how anyone could hate her so much to cause her such pain, but obviously as the story moves on you get to understand just who is capable of it and why!

The usual team are back to help on the investigation, with the added extra of Alison Lowe, a profiler who’s been called in monitor Kim’s behaviour. Whilst we have met Alison before, you get to know more about her in this book. I did initially think that she just wouldn’t fit into Kim’s team at all well, but I began to like Alison more and more as the book continued. Kim’s team continued to work closely with her and watch her back despite her not wanting to divulge all the details to them. I love Bryant’s relationship with his boss, and friend! He looks out for her so much that you can’t help but wonder if something will eventually happen between those two!!

The story was strong, fast paced and full of action. It had all the usual red herrings and dead ends that we have come to love from this series of books, and the author keeps you guessing all the way through as to who the killer is. The suspense comes in bucket-loads and had me furiously turning the pages just to get to the end. I could not put this book down and, just as I expected, Angela Marsons continues to stand proud at the top of my favourite authors list!

On a personal note, I was particularly pleased to see a mention for Dudley Libraries! Living in the area where this series is based, and working for the library service, I have to admit I did give a little cheer and ‘fist-pump’ the air when I saw this mention! Perhaps, the next book could have a killing based in the library and I could become Kim Stone’s best friend after helping her solve the case!! Just a suggestion Angie!! Remember, you saw it here first!!!

Highly, highly recommended!! Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book to review.

The past is coming back to Kim Stone. Horribly so.

Called out to a crime scene resembling the one where her twin died, others follow which recreate traumas from her past. Who hates her that much that they need to recreate her past??

Never dull, never predictable. Absolutely brilliant

Another good book in the Kim Stone series. This book does contain lots of spoilers though for books in the past so that might be one warning for new readers. However, I liked the story line and the way it allowed an update from characters past.

As always, a 5 star review for Angela Marsons.

Kim Stone is bad ass. She is one of my favorite detectives right now, up there with Adam Fawley and Will Trent.
Once again, Angela Marsons gives us a fantastic crime thriller, full of engaging characters and a gripping story line.
I cannot wait to see what books she will give us next!

"It was like a magic trick, an illusion, maybe a sleight of hand. Look over there while I do this over here. She could just about manage to disassociate herself from the events unfolding before her eyes as long as she could distract her mind with solving the case, sifting the clues, following the leads, and searching for evidence."

If you've been following my reviews for any length of time, then I'm sure it comes as no surprise that this was an easy 5 stars to give. The D.I. Kim Stone series has been dear to my heart for years now; I remember feeling so pleased when I began and realized there were already 3 books out to keep me occupied, only to find myself distraught once I had immediately caught up and began the long wait between each installment with all the other mega fans. Misery loves company. All that to say, it's extremely rare for me to follow a series for the length of 10 books; in fact, I can only think of two other series I have done so with (Karin Slaughter's Grant County/Will Trent series and Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series), so please understand I hold these books in the highest regard with the loftiest of expectations for each story that is released.

If you've been following the series from the beginning (which I highly recommend doing, otherwise you're missing all the really good stuff), you'll understand just how pivotal this particular installment is. We've come full circle, right back around to where it all began, with Kim Stone's horrific past. Someone is recreating every nightmarish event that our fearless leader has experienced, and the entire team is barely holding it together. As per usual, there are a few other side stories going on as well, which is how Angie always manages to keep me clueless as to the who, what, when, where, and why until the bloody fabulous reveal at the end. Typically police procedurals grow stale after a few books, but Marsons' manages to blend unique plot twists with deep characterization that brings us back for more. There is an intimacy to these characters that I have yet to find elsewhere in a thriller; the relationship I have is almost sacred with this group of comrades, and how rare is it to find that in books that are violent, graphic, and all levels of disturbing by nature?

If you're on the fence about reading these books because there are 10 installments published already, please don't. I rarely, if never, recommend friends to go back and read long term series, but I would be a selfish friend who was doing you a disservice if I kept you from experiencing everything that Angie has to offer you via Kim Stone and her crew. Squad goals. If you enjoy serial killer thrillers, but have grown weary of picking them up due to the bad taste that some have left in your mouth from being so similar, just know that this is a top notch series, so much so that big name publishers have tried to steal the author away from beloved Bookouture, yet she gracefully has kept her allegiance in a classy move of loyalty to the people who gave her a shot. There are no words to recommend this series highly enough, and I do hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

You know you’re on to a winner with an Angela Marsons book but the latest instalment, Dead Memories, the tenth book in the DI Kim Stone series is her best book yet.

From page one I was hooked as it appears someone is recreating every traumatic incident in Kim Stone’s life. We have people chained to radiators and bodies in burnt out cars. Kim must face the truth that someone wants to hurt her badly.

The book has the usual team of Stacey, Bryan’s and Penn alongside Kim. Characters we now know well and love. It’s gritty, riveting, fast paced and a joy to read. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

Poor Kim Stone can never escape her childhood, no matter how hard she tries. In Dead Memories, someone is recreating the tragic events that have shaped Kim Stones life. Kim and her wonderful team must try and find out who the killer is and put a stop to all the death and destruction. This is the 10th book in the series and I never tire of each new book, every story has fresh appeal to it. The team work well together and you can feel the respect they have for each other. Lovely to see Stacey and Penn branching out more on their own and not needing to be so reliant on Kim and Bryant. I am hoping we will see more of Alison the profiler in the future. A great read with an ending I did not see coming. I highly recommend this book and wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

This is the 10th book in the DI Kim Stone series and does rely on some prior knowledge of Kim’s life including villains who really hate her. Someone is murdering people and staging the crime scenes to look like traumatic events from Kim’s past.
I’ve read all the earlier novels but I must admit I’d forgotten some of the criminals who were suspects in this new case; however this did not detract from my enjoyment and I was fun re encountering them and trying to work out if they were responsible for the murders.
This was a cleverly constructed and exciting plot that kept me guessing right to the end.
I liked the new characters, Penn and Alison and the way they fit in with the rest of Kim’s team.
I won’t reveal too much of the story as this would spoil enjoyment of the book but suffice it to say that this was a great five star read that I raced through in a few days. I am now looking forward to the next book in the series and if you haven’t read the earlier books you’ve got a real treat in store as they’re all just as good as “Dead Memories “.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

The best yet!...

It took me a few books to get DI Kim Stone. I really wasn’t sure about her, but as her character developed I began to see past some of her behaviours and understand why she was the way she was.

This latest episode is the best yet, bringing back the old characters in a gripping instalment that kept me turning the pages till the wee hours.

So many twists and turns ensured this book was anything but predictable, keeping you guessing till the very end.

Many thanks Angela, can’t wait for book 11!

Dead Memories (Detective Kim Stone Crime Thriller Book 10) by Angela Marsons. First Angela Marson's DI Kim Stone's book for me and am definitely a new fan. Just love way the team of Stacy, Penn and Bryant work to make everything come together and the way they go about protecting their boss. The story outlined many of the early cases and caught my interest into going back and reading the earlier books. A fast paced read, lots of action, red herrings, and evil villains.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

What would you do if you were haunted by your past but were suppressing the emotions. That's exactly what happens in Desd Memories to DI Kim Stone. Her past has really come back to haunt her life as mysteriously there are murders being committed that link back to the horrific life events of one Kim Stone.

Seeing Kim as emotionally charged as this book shows will shock many people. I always thought of Kim as a hot headed lady who was only showing her anger and her ability to get through any situation.

This book shook my confidence in what she could handle. What same person could handle the case when it ties so tightly back to your own life.

I must say the story was super and had such a draw to it. I mean what idiot would want to unsettle Kim who we all know doesn't put up with anything from anyone. It's almost as if they were signing their own death warrant.

A haunted nightmare past comes back to haunt Kim Stone.
