I did not read this book and I know longer have any interest in reading it. This was during the beginning of my NetGalley “everything looks great so I am going to request it without looking into the book. I have definitely become more selective in choosing what books I want to request and read.

I couldn't get in to this book at all.... the writing was confusing and the storyline not super interesting to me.

The author wrote a memoir that perfectly captured the triumphs and setbacks of her life. I really enjoyed this one!

The writer hates the term “first world problems” and her inherent sense of entitlement is glaringly obvious from the outset. Patronising, scathing and superior in tone throughout. The writing is dreadful, failing to make any sense much of the time, and the lasting impression one takes away is of an insufferable America abroad. Having said that, I ended up feeling quite sorry for the author. Perhaps this is something she needed to write for herself; whether it warrants being shared with the rest of the world remains to be seen.

I didn't enjoy the writing style. It was too a bit all over the place, the writer clearly didn't have a clear idea of where he wanted to go with the story.

The writing needs to be tightened and polished - too much rambling and no clear direction.

The premise is great, but it does needs a lot of work to transfer the idea to page.

Honestly, it's not quite what I expected from the description. Parts of the book were very interesting and I felt like I'm getting a look into what it's like to be a foreigner in China. Other parts weren't quite well worded and gave off feelings of superiority and condescension.
All in all, I didn't really like it, 2.5 stars.

The premise of the book was great, the wording , not so much. Didn't enjoy this one, sorry to say.

Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

When her husbands company sends him to China for a few years just getting their with their pets is exhausting.Adjusting to life there for this couple not newlyweds in her second marriage more mature is an adventure in itself. They are provided with an apartment but after that finding stores finding friends ,employment dealing with a completely different life style. The author is open honest about her personal emotional issues her dealing with getting mental health help in a foreign country and just as they are leaving a shocking event occurs.A very interesting very entertaining look at her life in China
