History can be overwhelming, but it's also fascinating, especially the way it is told in Lies My Teacher Told Me for Young Readers. There is so much to learn about topics that are already familiar. We are given the backstory that we already know and then given the truth about what happened. I really enjoyed reading this book. I do wish that some of the formatting worked better. Text boxes and photo captions were a bit difficult to tell apart from the book's text. These tools are very useful when format is stronger.

From the author of Lies My Teacher Told Me comes a version for the young child. James Loewen made quite a stir in educational studies years ago when he gave historical proof that the history textbooks in our high schools was biased and in some cases untrue. In this new book, he takes on many of these biased textbooks, but on the elementary level. Eye-opening and thought provoking!
