I won this book off of Netgalley for my honest opinion.

This was the first book by this author that I have read. This is a story about second chance love with the theme that you need to live life to its fullest. Which is all true. I liked the premise of the book. I liked the characters. However, there was just a certain "something" missing from the book. Not something exactly that I could put my finger on. Some of the dialogue felt forced to me and I felt like everything came together too quickly. Some little things that I personally didn't care for. However, that is my personal preference so someone else may enjoy how fast things progressed.

Like I said, the plot of the story was good and the journey was a solid concept. The delivery was just too rushed for me.

I previously read L.P. Dover’s ‘Breakaway’ series and really enjoyed it. She is amazingly talented to create amazing characters that you will adore. I was really heartbroken when the ‘Breakaway’ series come to an end. When I saw ‘Love, Again’, I didn’t think twice to request. ‘Love, Again’ is a captivating, emotional and sweet second chance story, which you won’t be able to put it down.

Aubrey Reynolds is from a small town called Dusty Valley in Oklahoma, in order to follow her dreams she left everyone, including her heart, behind and moved to Hollywood ten years ago. Now she is a famous Hollywood director. When her blood tests come false positive for a rare disease and thought she doesn't have long to live, she gets a reality check. Even though there are a lot of people, who envies Aubrey’s glamorous life, she realizes she has no one to share good and/or bad in her life, only feeling she has is loneliness. After this experience, she decides to take time off and start a bucket list. While checking things off from her bucket list, she gets a lot of time to think about past and realizes that what she misses the most is in Dust Valley, so she decides to go back and try to ask forgiveness off the man she left behind.

Cole Haywood is the assistant chief at the Dust Valley fire station. 10 years ago his fiancée left him to chase her dreams and shatter his heart in the process. Even though, Cole tried to move on, he was never able to get over Aubrey. After ten years what he doesn’t expect is to see the love of his life standing right in front of him. He is still mad at her but he is madder himself for letting her go. Now that she is back, he is afraid to open his heart because he knows, her life is in California and he cannot handle being left behind once again.

‘Love, Again’ is one of the best second chance romances I ever read. I really enjoyed this sweet, heartwarming, swoony story. I couldn’t stop reading it once I started and read this book in one sitting :) Also, I loved the secondary characters Emilia and Bennett. Even though, you know how it will end up I would love to read their story as well.

Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Yes.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.

Sometimes I think I’m a glutton for punishment. Sometimes I know I’m just one for giving second (and third, and fourth) chances. As much as I enjoyed the chemistry of this author’s characters in her Breakaway series, there were a lot of things that drove me crazy with her writing. After the last in that series I really thought I’d leave her behind. Then this title popped up as available on Net Galley and I loved the description. I hemmed and hawed, but ended up giving in since I really had wanted to give this author a chance with something other than a hockey romance. (I read one other standalone by her that I wasn’t crazy about, but not enough to make a true judgement.)

I’m happy to report there were no timeline issues in this story. Yay! That has been one of my major issues with her stories in the past. While I still think there was plenty more research she could do with her back story on her characters, it wasn’t as glaringly obvious in this story and I was able to suspend my disbelief for much of the tale. These are all positive things. I lamented that I hadn’t seen much growth in her as an author when I got to the last book in the Breakaway series. Well, I now see that growth in her writing in many ways.

Both Aubrey and Cole are loveable characters. They have a definite spark. Not as much heat and chemistry as I’m used to with her love interests, but there was an undeniable connection. More than anything, their love and this story are sweet. In a good way.

If you regularly read my reviews you know I hate to give spoilers and therefore I often have to be vague in my thoughts. That’s going to be hard for the next part, but I’m hoping I don’t ruin anything. As much as I’m ecstatic that Cole and Aubrey didn’t have the stubborn standoff of not being open and honest yet getting upset that the other was holding back, I also felt the story was somewhat resolved by halfway through. The rest of the book there were little things here and there, but all the real conflict came more from each character having an inner struggle. Not that I want every story I read to be predictable and follow the exact same pattern, but there is a basic outline to how a story flows for a reason…it makes sense. The flow of this story threw me off and left me feeling a bit empty.

Overall all, I think this author has learned a lot since the first stories I read by her. She has a decent size library of work so there are obviously fans of her other work, too. I can’t say for sure if I’ll give her another go, but this time she didn’t totally scare me away. Baby steps.

Loved this unique second chance romance. I found the whole plot super unique and intriguing which kept me reading until I had devoured the book.

One thing I found a bit refreshing was the lack of struggle. Usually in books there is a struggle before a HEA can happen and this one didn’t have it. Life isn’t always struggle and hardship, sometimes it can be hearts and rainbows and this one was.

I was riveted by Cole and Aubrey’s story from the very beginning.
This is more than a second chance romance. It’s a whirlwind of emotion. You’ll soon find out that love can’t be denied for these two.
The last line of the story had me smiling. Definitely 5 stars!

I enjoyed reading this second chance love story between Cole and Aubery. The characters were wonderful and they had good chemistry. The pages flowed freely and it had a good storyline.

A wonderful small town romance!

Film director Aubrey Reynolds was told she had a terminal illness by her doctor but when the test results belonged to someone, she decided to make a bucket list and start checking off stuff. One item on her list was apologizing to her former fiancé after she left Dusty Valley, Oklahoma a month before they were supposed to get married. Fireman Cole Haywood wasn’t happy to see Aubrey in Dusty Valley because he still hadn’t really gotten over her leaving. Aubrey and Cole reconnected quickly but they both realized that Aubrey’s career in Hollywood would separate them for long periods and Cole was going to be the new fire chief when the current one retired.

Aubrey left to finish her bucket list with Cole decided to join her on her travels taking some much needed vacation. The time away helped them decide what to do about their future and I loved the choices that they made. If you like small town contemporary romance, you will really enjoy Love, Again L.P. Dover.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'd like to thank Netgalley and Loveswept for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that I am pretty biased about this author. She's been one of my favorite's and I was so excited to be able to get this ARC.

This is a great second chance romance with very little drama. Aubrey and Cole grew up together and fell in love. They were engaged and ready to start their lives together when Aubrey walked away to pursue her dream of being a movie director. Years later with a health scare Aubrey started to reflect on her life and what was important to her. Upon completing her bucket list it brought her back to her home town. It was inevitable that Aubrey and Cole would find their way together again.

I love second chance romances and how love can be found again.

Hollywood type books aren't usually interesting to me. However, she's a director and he's a fireman, and it's just different. Sweethearts forever when everything changed so she could pursue her dream without messing with his. There were moments when I felt tears building as they were starting to communicate again. She had to swallow her pride when she returned home but it wasn't necessary. Her whole world changed in a matter of a few hours. Truly one of the sweetest, heartwarming and inspiring second chance stories. I received a copy through Netgalley, my review written voluntarily.

This book is a second chance romance book with a very hot leading character. Aubrey and Cole were high school sweethearts but something happens in Aubrey’s life that has her leaving her home town and Cole behind. Now years later she has a health scare and decides to head back to her home town and make things right with Cole. What she doesn’t expect is that those feelings she had never went away. At first Cole is still really mad and wants nothing to do with her but that does not last long at all. I loved the journey that both took to get them back together. They both had grown up a lot in the years they had a part. I really enjoyed this book. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was one beautiful book. The cameos and shout out of some amazing people and events in the book world was phenomenal. Second chances are what dreams are made of. It gives hope to the wary. One story for thenages and the big screen, in more ways than one.

This was my first L.P. Dover book and will not be my last.

This book was such an easy, fun read. The beginning makes it feel heavy, but soon it turns into an inspiration story. The character has had a really tough time while following her dream, but did following her dream make her miss what she really needs in life? This story is about a girls journey to home, which should be easy, but she isn't sure where home is. Come along for the tale of a successful movie producer learning that all the money and fame may not be worth the price she is paying. Highly Recommend.

Wow! This one got my attention at the very beginning. Everything fell into place in a 2nd chance romance. The storyline was great and in reality, what should be most important in life. I gave it 4 stars because I really did like the concept, I didn't care for the dual POVs in this book, as I felt bounced around a bit. I still wanted to see how it ended and with a happy sigh.

I just couldn't get into the book. The characters were pretty boring and the story felt similar to so many others. 15% of the way through I gave up.

Love, Again is about how a love lost can be revived. Aubrey left Cole behind when she moved to Hollywood to pursue her dream of being a successful director. Ten years, go by and Aubrey has never forgotten Cole. Then a misdiagnosis puts everything into focus. Aubrey puts her career on hold to follow her bucket list. The list includes going back to Oklahoma and making amends with Cole. Can Cole forgive Aubrey? Will they make amends? Will they revive their relationship?

I so needed to read Love, Again. I needed to read a book with a simple plot. The last few books I have read have had plots that were all over the place. So, reading a book that was focused only on one thing was terrific. It was a balm for my brain.

I liked that Love, Again was a second chance romance. Out of all the genres/troupes, second chance romances is in my top 5. I love reading about characters who get back together after being separated for years. I like seeing those characters reconnect. Audrey and Cole was no exception.

I liked Aubrey. I did think that she was too chill about certain things (like her misdiagnosis). I loved her bucket list. There were a few things on there that I want to do. She didn’t come across as a typical Hollywood person. She seemed genuine to the people that she met. I didn’t understand how she could leave Cole a month before the wedding. That was the only time I thought she was selfish. But, when it was revealed why she left and who was behind it, then I understood. My feelings about her being selfish went away, and I pitied her. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I did like Cole, but I didn’t get as good as a connection to him. His chapters were introduced rather late in the book. Don’t get me wrong; he was excellent for Aubrey. I felt that something was missing on my end. I wish I could explain it. But I can’t.

Love, Again was a perfect fit into the romance category. Being a second chance romance, I didn’t have an issue with Cole and Aubrey falling in love . Usually, I would be screaming “Instalove,” but in this case, it wasn’t. Aubrey and Cole had a history. They knew they were soulmates. So, yeah, I had no issue with them saying the “L” word as soon as they did in the book.

Aubrey and Cole’s romance was relatable to me. They were soul mates that separated. It did take them ten years, but once they got back together, it was almost like they were never apart. Their love for each other came off the pages.

The sexual tension and chemistry between Aubrey and Cole were steaming hot. From the minute they saw each other, I could see the zings. The author did have them have sex shortly after they saw each other. Again, something that would bother me, but in this case, it didn’t. The sex was red hot. The author was able to keep the sexual tension going, which made every single sex scene amazing.

I did have a small complaint. If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, then you know how I feel about the characters having unprotected sex. I know that Aubrey and Cole were soulmates but to go bareback after ten years? Yeah, no thank you.

I did have the ending figured out. I had it figured out when Aubrey and Cole went to Turk and Caicos. Of course, I liked how the book ended up. It was the ultimate HEA. But I thought that Aubrey took an unnecessary risk cliff jumping. The epilogue was my favorite part of the book. I was hoping for an Emilia/Bennet book, but from what I read, that isn’t happening.

The author did a fantastic job at wrapping up all the plotlines in Love, Again. There was no lag in the plot. All the storylines were wrapped up, which meant that there were no dropped storylines or characters. I liked that the author took events that happened at the beginning of the book and tied it in to the end. For some reason, that made me happy.

I would give Love, Again an Adult rating. There is sex. There is language. There is mild violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Love, Again. I would recommend it to family and friends.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Love, Again.

All opinions stated in this review of Love, Again are mine.

I loved this book! I love a good second chance romance story, but can't find many that are written very well. I couldn't put this one down! I related to the main character, Aubrey, and found myself wishing for a happy ending for her. At first I didn't know how the story was going to go. Aubrey finds out she is dying but soon learns it was a mistake at the doctor's office. She realizes she has a lot she hasn't done in her life and sets out on a journey to find her happiness. I really thought we would get an entire book worth of her following her bucket list with a bunch of boring narratives. But I was wrong. I loved the writing style of this author. I would definitely recommend to others! Thanks to Netgalley and Loveswept for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great second chance story. Cole and Aubrey have a love that time could not stop. The characters are believable and the guilt and regret they both had was done right in the story. I hope there is a second book with Bennett and Emilia.
