I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A cute picture book centered on the adorable monsters. Lots of repetition so great for beginning readers.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own - and well - my four year old daughters.

Monsters Move is a super fun and a brightly colourful book about monsters. It shows different stuff that monster can do and has beautiful pictures which illustrates them. Some pictures are hilarious. It was easy to follow and my daughter loves picking up my phone to reread this book.

Thank you Juliana O' Neill and Xist Publishing.

Monsters do a lot of things, usually in rhyme, including mixing and grooving and making noise. And let’s not forget feather tickling and farting.
Like others in this series, it’s not an actual story, just a list of the ways in which monsters move. Of course there’s a lot of repetition. Once you’re okay with the fact that this book is designed to teach really little ones to read, then it can be enjoyed for what it’s worth.

Colorful, whimsical, engaging illustrations will appeal to children. Filled with humorous scenes of friendly-looking monsters involved in different activities, playing, making toys, making noise, mixing things in the kitchen, laughing, painting, sleeping, and unfortunately, passing gas. So, we’ll pass on this one.

Monsters Move is a fun, quick read with repeated text and sight words galore. The illustrations stole the show for me. The colors are bright and full of life. I can imagine the monsters being used to teach geometry, but also as behavior management mascots. Students K-1 will love this book, and laugh their way through it as they learn to read.

I wish that all beginning readers were this entertaining! With a simple vocabulary, funny and fun illustrations and some good rhymes, this is a great choice for a new reader.

Kids will feel successful about their reading skills and will also see that reading can be fun as they go through the story. For the adults, there are helpful suggestions at the back of the book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for another good title in the Reading Stars series.

This is such a cute book!! I love the happy spin on monsters for little ones! I always encouraged rhyming and sight words with my son when he was first learning to read. I’d recommend this to people with young children and will be looking out for this book for my young nieces.

The illustrations in this book are GREAT! Not too overwhelming for my small children (aged 2 and 4). There were just enough words that they could recognize what word i was saying but they laughed at the images of the monsters. My kids LOVE monsters so they were going to love this book and I knew that right away!

What a wonderful book for a very young reader! I love the bright colours of the monsters and their cheeky nature! The illustrations and rhyming make it easy to elicit the words in case the child is struggling with the text. I like the way the story/poem introduces new words and then repeats them in new sentences, helping to build the child’s confidence in reading.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.
