When my little one got his first cold, he seemed confused about what was happening to him, why he was feeling tired and needed to rest, and why he couldn’t play with his friends. This simple story would have helped to make him understand that this is something we all have to go through from time to time.
I loved the little get-better card that children can make for each other.
Little Hoo is an adorable character and I am looking forward to reading more books about him.

Thank you to NetGalley an Xist Publishing for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

This story starts with Mama Hoo taking Little Hoos temperature and progresses through the things Mama Hoo does to make Little Hoo feel better. This is an accurate representation of many times when little ones are sick and will be great to read to sick children to help make them feel better.

Every parent knows how tough it is when their little one gets sick. In Little Hoo has the Flu, poor Little Hoo is sick. He has a fever and the sniffles. His Mom gets him some chicken soup and water and has him rest. Little Hoo's friends want him to come out and play, but his Mom explains that he's sick. The friends come back with get-well wishes.
This is a cute book to read to little ones when they get sick so they can relate to Little Hoo. It's hard when you're little to understand resting and not being able to play, but this book will definitely help get the message across.
I'd recommend this book for children ages 2-4 (especially if they aren't feeling well!)

This is a very simple story with cute and uncluttered artwork. It would be great for reading to 1-3 year-old children, especially in helping them understand what it means to be sick and the things that you can do to help get well. The concepts are simple and straightforward, and the message is effective.

This is apparently a series and may not be the best one as an introduction. It is very short and may keep very young children entertained through a few very short and repetitive sentences. I can’t see it being a book that is chosen for bedtime stories over and over. It may be great to but in a boxed set as part of the series or to those who are already fans of the character.
The artwork is pleasing and there is a link on the final page to print out a get well card for Little Hoo. I will look for more in the series to determine if there is something I missed!

Aww Little Hoo, hope you get well soon. After reading 'Happy Easter Little Hoo', we couldnt bear that Little Hoo had the flu. The first page is a foreshadow of all the things that are going to be involved in the story. take time to go over them at first, so you feel good when you fidn the objects in the pages later on.
Very well done story and illustrations. Just came back from a mini visit to a friend with cold, so the story resonated that Little Hoo needs a rest and cant play with friends.

I read this to my 5 yr old as her little brother was sick and she wasn't understanding why he didn't want to play. I felt this was a great book to illustrate and understand that meaning to fully comprehend what was happening. She really liked the bright illustrations and felt she connected to Little Hoo and compared to her sick brother at the time. She wanted to do exactly what Little Hoo was doing to help her brother. Wanted to give him water, and lunch and also wanted to make a get well card. She definitely enjoyed it and wants to keep reading it. I think this book will be on her shelf soon once its out in the world. :) Thanks to the Author for putting this one out there.

My 3 & 5 yr olds loved this sweet little book! Brightly colored illustrations, sweet story, and very simple for my 5 yr old to read out loud to her sister (which she was very excited to do)! We are officially Little Hoo fans.

Little hoo has the flu by Brenda Ponnay.
Poor Little Hoo!
Little Hoo doesn’t feel good. With a fever and a stuffy beak, Little Hoo needs lots of rest before the little owl will be ready to play. Mama Hoo provides fluffy pillows, plenty of tissues and comforting soup for the little owl in this sweet book about being sick.
Little Hoo hast the Flu is part of the Little Hoo series featuring cute and reassuring texts for toddlers and preschoolers.
A fantastic read. My 2 girls loved the pictures and wanted hoo to be better. They gave it 5*.

I enjoyed this book with my daughters aged 2 and 4, I am a healthcare professional and during flu season I am obsessed with my family's health. I was able to design a story with these beautiful illustrations to show my concerns about the flu and the effects it can have.

I do enjoy more of a story so I don't have to be too creative, though

I was glad to be able to read this book in order for an honest opinion!

A lovely addition to the series, this is a book for very young children, with the main character being a little owl called Hoo. Little Hoo is a bit sick, and the book shows us how to take care of a sick person, as well as what to do when we get the flu in order to feel better.

The book is full of simple illustrations with vibrant colors, that young children will be drawn to. A lovely, very quick story you can read with children, especially when they, too, have the flu,

Another lovely Little Hoo book about getting the flu. This title has a lot less dialog in it than some of the other Little Hoo stories, but still a good read, especially for little ones who are feeling under the weather.
