A cute repetitive early reader. Lots of bright pictures and easy repetition for early readers.

Its about a dog Cody who loves to eat everything for kids who are starting to read. Illustrations are good. The last page has an option for the kids to fill in for "Cody eats ____" and fun.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

simple repetitive sentences designed to get kids started with reading. There isn't any story to it, just cute and funny pictures of Cody the dog eating lots of random items... Including poop! (This is why I have cats, fyi.)

Anyway, if your kid is very young and/or just starting out on their reading journey then why not give it a try!

Cody’s a dog that’ll eat everything, including rocks. And poop.
This isn’t really a story, just a list of what this crazy dog will eat. Might have been shorter to list what he doesn’t, if anything. This is for really little ones to learn to read, with easy words and plenty of repetition. Simply drawn as well.

This is a great first reader about a dog who eats everything. It reinforces the words “Cody” and “eats” since every page begins with those words. The third word on the page changes. This helps the child not to become bored when reading this book.

The illustrations in this book are simply but cute. They are colorful and show Cody eating all the different things he eats. The help to show the reader what Cody is eating which may assist in them sounding out the word.

I could have probably lived without knowing that Cody eats poop but my five-year-old grandson thought it was riot even if a bit gross. The sentence “Cody eats _____” is at the back of the book with a suggestion to fill in the blank and draw Cody eating it. The same grandson immediately jumped up and wanted to know where some paper was so he could begin his drawing. Since children are the target audience, I would say this book is a hit.

This is part of a series of early readers. The text is very simple, yet appealing in its easy repetition. The illustrations are amusing and bright.
Young readers will be entertained by learning about the things that Cody is happy to eat and will enjoy the success of reading on their own. . Adults will appreciate the short section on using this book with a child. All in all a fun read for everyone.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this e-galley. The opinions are my own.

Such a cut book. Easy reading. My four year old followed along while her six year old brother read. What more can one write for a kids book?

I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own - and well - my four year old daughters.

I am an avid reader of Christian fiction, and while browsing for appropriate books on NetGalley, I came across some appealing children's books. I immediately thought that this would be an interesting and innovative way to read to my four-year-old daughter. A couple of books by Brenda Ponnay were available for request so I thought I would give it a try.

Cody Eats Everything is a fun and somewhat strange book about a dog that eats - well everything! It was colourful and easy to follow. My daughter's favourite part was getting to guess what Cody would eat next! (Oh...jam...by the way). Brenda Ponnay's way of getting the children involved with the story makes it a fun read.

Thank you Brenda Ponnay.

Just what the title says . . . Cody the dog eats it all. Dog food, cat food, bird food, people food, socks and rocks, butter, peanut butter, flowers, grass, rope, toys and the stuff dog owners scoop, which is followed by an illustration of Cody eating soap. Yes, Cody eats just about everything! Cute idea but we’ll pass on this one. Parents are encouraged to read the book aloud, running their fingers under the simple words—allowing the child to repeat words and finish sentences.

This was a cute, simple story. Lots of repetition, which made it perfect for my beginner reader to read on her own with confidence.

This is a simple story with a lot of repetition of one basic structure ‘ Cody eats ____’. The pictures are lovely with bright vibrant colours. They are definitely going to help children who are just beginning to discover the joy of reading on their own. The book can be used in class or at home. It can be extended into a project ‘Make a book about what your favourite animal eats’.

Thank you NetGalley and Xist Publishing for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

What a cute story about a dog named Cody who tends to eat everything he sees. So many household pets, especially new puppies, do like to try everything. This is a fun story for children and can even help to teach them to clean up items around puppies because they will eat anything! The illustrations are well done and will definitely be sharing with my niece and nephew.

Cody is Funny. Pictures are cool. Cody's presence in every page is the constant. Even with fewer pages, there is a theme which binds the book.

Cute story about a dog that eats everything. The illustrations make it easier for little ones to learn words. My kindergartener was excited to read this to me. I like that there is a to-do section in the back too.

Nice illustrations, but no lesson here, nothing to learn. The dog is really silly.
Thank you Netgalley.
