I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A very simple early reader. The pictures are very bright and the text is simple.

Very useful read for children 2-3, learning to build sentences. It offers a good format to be further experimented by the parents together with the little ones. Not very impressed about the illustrations though. To be creatively used both by parents and teachers (although the continuation of a sentence starting with ´Kate makes...´ is rather limited, for both logical and grammar reasons).
Rating: 3.5

I am unable to download this title it keeps showing up blank. I wanted my daughter who is just learning to read to see if this was something she would like. I have tried multiple times.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC! Cute illustrations showing a day in the life of Kat! I know my neice who is 4 would love this book. And the pictures that correspond with all the things she’s doing helps to reinforce the words as they go along! Good read!

Kat Makes is a very sweet childrens' book with 7 lovely illustrations.
I love the content, encouraging children to be creative and industrious. Children love to do crafts and make things with their hands, so I think they will relate to this book easily, and delight in the concepts.

Beautiful book, thank you Goodreads for the opportunity to read this book pre-publication.

Kat makes food, architecture, art, slime, and a lot of other things. As you might imagine, she’s not the cleanest kid ever.
Like others in this series, it’s not an actual story, just a list of the things Kat makes. Of course there’s a lot of repetition. Once you’re okay with the fact that this book is designed to teach really little ones to read, then it can be enjoyed for what it’s worth.

For children that are just learning to read, Kat Makes is a perfect book. It's listed as a Level A reader, which is the easiest learning to read books. It's simple in that it repeats "Kat makes" with something new on each page, identified by pictures (cupcakes, forts, etc.).
Kids around age 4 would love this book as they learn what the words are that match up to the pictures.

Very cute early reader book with lively illustrations. My five year old daughter enjoyed reading along, pointing to each word. For every picture, we talked about the things Kat made and how she might make her own version. She has asked to read this over and over, which makes this a winner!

I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own - and well - my four year old daughters.

Having recently read and reviewed a couple of other books by this author, Brenda Ponnay, I knew that when another one of her books was available my daughter would enjoy reading it.

Kat Makes is a fun and colourful book about a young girl - Kat - and everything that she can make. It was easy to follow and allowed my daughter the opportunity to think of her things that could Kat can make next (...breakfast!). Brenda Ponnay's way of getting the children involved with the story makes it a fun and educational read.

Thank you Brenda Ponnay.

Kat Makes

Follow Kat as she makes things. This book is simple and repetitive for early readers; Kat makes _____." As an early reader, this simple text along with helpful pictures allows the child to easily problem solve the words to feel confident and encouraged. I think that this is overpriced for this type of book, however.
I was given the privilege to read this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review which is stated here.

This is a super cute book for young children learning to read. The art is absolutely adorable! I definitely recommend this!

This book is marketed at a level A book. This book would be great for beginning readers that can follow the same sentence stem while changing one word each time. If a parent or teacher read the first sentence, level a students should be able to follow the pattern and read the rest of the story mostly independently. They would solve the new word by looking at the beginning sound of the word and using the picture to solve. This book enables that problem solving by having regular sounding words with new spelling patterns that are easily solvable by the high-quality illustration.

Kat Makes is a cute, easy-to-read book in Brenda Ponnay's Kat Can series. I enjoyed listening to this 8-page book being read by my kindergartener. The repetition of the words "Kat makes" helped my kindergartener remain confident in her reading. The quality illustrations provided useful clues when she stumbled across unfamiliar words.

This book was a quick, easy read. It was enjoyable, and the ending brought a smile to my little reader's face. This book is set to release on February 15, 2019. We hope to see more from Brenda Ponnay in the future!

Thanks to NetGalley for making this book available for an honest review.

Gives instructions on how to read with child at beginning. Short easy sentences. Colorful cute pictures.. Questions to discuss at end for comprehension

A quick read—a very quick read. But a fun one. The girl pictured, Kat, seems a little older than the toddler, pre-K set that might be readiing this book along with adult help. That said, the illustrations are appealing with a muted pastel (for the most part) color palette). What can Kat make? Cupcakes, forts, pizza, paintings, slime, mud, and a mess! A fun ending that will make children giggle.

The illustrations in this book are fantastic. They are so cute and realistic and my niece loved them. It is a cute book depicting a fun day in the life of Kat.

The pictures are fun. The simple sentences are fun for little kids to read but there should have been some structure, like a loop back to the beginning.

My 5 year old is a newly independent reader, and she really liked this book. Very simplistic and repetitive, but in our case that was a plus- it gave her confidence being able to read it on her own! Perfect for beginner readers!

Kat makes by Brenda Ponnay.
Kat is a busy girl. In this very simple 8-page reader, short sentences are paired with fun illustrations to get kids reading about Kat and all of the things she likes to make.
Sample Text:
Kat makes forts. Kat makes pizza.
This book is part of the Kat Can series from Brenda Ponnay Kat Can Readers are Guided Reading Level A, are very short and are suitable for kids just learning to read.
What a great little read for my 2 girls. They wanted to do the things that kat was doing. When asked how many stars they said more than 5*.
