I read this book with my child, who has now decided she wants to be a tennis superstar.

It was a cute book, with very little text, but clear and colorful photos. It explained the rules of the game. I loved it.
Was definitely inspiring for my child. I can see it inspiring others as well.

I was given this book for free in exchange for my honest review from netgalley.

Photos backed with a little text explain all the rules and nuances of the game to kids.
Some of the captions are simple enough, while others go into more detail, like teaching how to serve. There are some quizzes that aren’t that hard, as long as the reader is paying attention. There’s one caption that uses the word “practice” four times, which makes it difficult to read.
There is one error: when explaining “deuce,” it says the next player to win two points in a row wins the game, but that’s not necessarily true.
There’s one shot at the end of a smiling kid who looks about the same size as the racket he’s holding. It’s really cute.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

This book serves (no pun intended) as an introduction to the game of tennis. The basic elements of play are described, terms are defined and there are short quizzes for the reader. The photographs contribute to the book's appeal by showing kids in action. Youngsters interested in the game may want to take a look at this.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. The opinions are my own.

Learn about this fun, fast action sport through simple informative text accompanied by engaging color photographs. Tennis courts, the racket and how to hold it, playing the game (the serve and the rally), and rules are explained in child-friendly language. As with other books in the "My Favorite" series, "Do You Remember" questions appear after each section. The answers are provided in the back of the book along with a short glossary of terms.

I grew up in south florida playing tennis. My parents played a lot so I was kind of forced to. I never read any books or had anything to read to teach my about tennis or show that kids actually played tennis. I only learned the rules from what I saw or asked about.

That all being said, I would have LOVED to have this book when I was younger so I could have had a reference. I read this book to see if my knowledge matched up with facts and even though I played tennis for many many years, I learned a lot from this book!

If my kids were old enough to read on their own, and I was going to give them a book to help them gain interest- this is definitely the one I would get them.

The pictures were great!

This is an introduction to the game of tennis. Children read about the place where the sport is played, the equipment, the very confusing way tennis is scored and what tennis players need to work on if they want to become good at the game.
The photos are high quality and are one of the most attractive features of the book. I also like the way the review questions break the reading into manageable chunks and help children review the presented facts.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.
