I couldn't get into this one. Neither the story itself nor the writing managed to keep my attention.

I was never able to download this book to my kindle for review. I wish I had been able to review the book, I enjoyed reading the description.

The author's painstaking research and attention to detail is obvious in the writing of this book. The author laid out the information in a manner that allowed the reader to form their own opinion. I felt sorry for her father while reading this, as it must have been horrible to keep such a big secret from those he loved.

I loved this book. Mostly it is about love letters to and from the author's parents. You would think it is boring, but for some reason, I was really enjoying reading them. It is interesting to see how many service men wanted to quickly get married. It was wild to see a 'relationship' develop as the two barely ever saw each other. The fact that he was most likely gay was really only told at the end and was not the theme of the book. I would highly recommend~!

Don't know what was more boring--the wartime experiences of the author's father as told through his letters home or the reading of these letters. So little is gained from the letters besides the weekly movies available to those on the military base during the WWII. The wars that the author attempts to discover that caused her father's behavior could have been discovered by a talk with the family rather than all the research. Plus, it is never interesting to suggest psychological babble as reasons for illness or motivation without some proof.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for providing this ebook.
