Alexander (Xander), is a golden-haired rake, Master demon hunter (he’s just really cool kicking butt), and has this direct way of seeing straight to the heart of someone. He also had a wonderfully biting relationship with the demon Dommiel, similar to Pamela Clare’s bromance between Hunter and D’arcangelo, with jokes, sarcasm, and an unspoken loyalty forged in life threatening circumstances.

Bone, (aka Carowyn) was bloody fantastic! Whip smart, creates weapons for anyone and tries so hard to play like Switzerland in the battle of demons and angels. I loved her! She had a huge heart she didn’t want hurt again and hid from everyone, including herself, but Xander was having none of that, determined to show her how to see her light.

One fatal stab lands Xander on Carowyn’s table where she works her magic and the sparks burning off these two was a rocketship of stars from beginning to end! I loved their byplay, or maybe I should say drawn-out foreplay, because Xander wasn’t shy about enticing Cara over to his way of thinking! And his methods...of course a hunter would be very good with his hands;)

Juliette Cross writes strong characters that are not perfect, sometimes straddling the line of good and bad, yet she manages to convey their struggle in such an empathetic way, I can’t help but get sucked in! It doesn’t hurt that she can write protective, snarky males and intelligent, spitfire heroines either...

Book two of the Dominion series, Hardest Fall had a bit of everything-sweeping romance, demons and angels, comedy, zippy lines, good vs evil, one avenging demon hunter, and the demoness/angel he’s falling for! If this series was a tv show, I’d never miss an episode!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this, there was a different twist To this than the usual good vs evil, heaven vs hell books. The lead characters are well written and likeable. The action and story kicks of from page one and has a good pace all the way through. This is part of a series but is also standalone, I hadn’t read any of the others and works and it works really well as standalone, you don’t miss as anything because of it and I could go and read the others without too many major spoilers. Great read that keeps you interested

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Didn't realize this was part of a series missed the first one,Was a little confused how everything develops but in all it is a very good story.
It has good characters in Bone and Xander and all the rest that helps the story along.
Bone and Xander are hiding things that about themselves that prevent them from becoming who they could be.
As thing develops they come to some understanding about themselves.
Good action,drama emotions,romance.
Enjoyed reading.

The moment I laid eyes on the Hardest Fall, my fate was sealed. I was going to devour this book and never look back.

Bone is a character from the first book Darkest Heart. All you really know is she’s always alone, creating weapons for either side. Because she didn’t choose a side, that was her thing, no one was going to tell her what to do and that's it. That of course, is until Xander practically lands in her lap aka table.

There’s so much about this story that’s brilliant. It captivated me from the start. The raw, gritty details of the apocalypse. But even in that, way deep down there was the hope, love, and light that they all needed. I don’t want to go into too much detail about Bone. It’s a heartbreaking one that I think she should tell you herself. And Xander, oh boy, hello? This guy is a Demon Hunter that’s sexy as H*ll. This story practically had everything you would want.

There’s that vulnerability that these two share. That tear down the walls that they’ve built. To protect themselves. I mean it is an apocalypse, who can you trust? I connected to both characters, and I laughed with them, I teared up as they spoke of their past and cheered as they fought the darkness that threatened to swallow them whole.

The vision that Cross has for this series, I’m on for this ride. It’s a captivating series that will have entranced till the end.

Overall, Five Boundless Stars.

Xander, former cad about town, and current demon hunter, is trying to stem the tide in the Apocalypse by giving the humans a fighting chance against the demons. But when he is wounded in battle he is healed by weapons maker, tinkerer and former Seraph, Bone.

Bone is determined to remain neutral in her dealings with demons, hunters and humans. She wants them to have a fighting chance rather than one side having a clear advantage. She wants to atone for what she sees as her descent into darkness and her dalliance with Rook, demon and all around d%&k!

Rook has requested a very...particular instrument be created. Bone knows that it is to keep large numbers of humans obedient, she just doesn't know how yet. But can she avoid her intense feelings towards Xander long enough to figure it out?

Dommiel, Anya, George & Kat and the very easy to like demon band members inc Axel are back to entertain, amaze and be all badass! Throw in a cute as a cherub Nephilim child and Bone is about to find out that she may not be as neutral as thought.

Bone may be trying to paint her heart the blackest black but its shiny angelic beginnings keeps coming through.

"Hardest Fall" is a paranormal romance about Bone and Xander. Bone is a demon who was formerly a Seraph who fell from grace. She now forges powerful weapons in the apocalypse for all sides- she is neutral in the waging war between humans and demons. The book begins with a bang, when Xander is brought to her on the brink of death to be healed. He is a demon hunter, but Bone still feels a pull to him and her song responds, healing him.

Once he is healed and wakes up in her bed (alone), Xander witnesses some of the demons ruling London, Rook and his brother, have asked her to forge a special crown, which could allow them to control the wearer. Determined to maintain her neutrality, Bone is considering her options. Xander attempts to get her on his and humanity's side, pointing out that such a weapon would not be part of her neutral pact.

As Xander and Bone work together and with the other hunters to figure out what Rook is up to, they also learn more about each other and a romance grows. While I found the story intriguing and enjoyed the main plot, I did feel like I was missing some big pieces of the world building. Notably, I did not read the first book, so I am assuming readers learned more about this apocalyptic world in that book. I would have liked a recap in this book regardless. We also know both Bone and Xander have a heavy past, but it takes a long time for the reveal, and by then, it almost seemed late, as it was harder to care, because of all they are doing in the present. I would have personally liked more information earlier in the story.

In terms of the romance, this was pretty strong with an immediate connection but slower to physical action (though not too slow). The connection is built with several conversations and reveals. The overall story was really fascinating, and I would have enjoyed more time learning about this new world and the demons who run it as well as the powers of these varied creatures. I assume this will keep coming out through future books in the series, and I would definitely be interested in reading more.

Overall, it's a solid paranormal romance, and I will be curious to see how this series evolves over time. Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

*I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

What do you say about a book so good, you literally felt apart of it? Nothing. You can’t. Words literally escape me because all I want to do is crawl in to my Kindle and take up permanent residence. Sigh....this is soooooo good.

Bone. My goddess hero. Ok, technically, she’s not a goddess, she’s a demon...well...sort of, but I digress. She’s known for forging metal and weapons with essence powerful enough to take down both demon and angel. She’s sought out by both sides and because of this, hasn’t chosen a side to support during the war between them. That is until a certain angel is brought in to her domain, needing her “song” in order to survive.

Xander. Mmmmmm, Xander. This man, angel, dominant man who is everything any woman could ever want. Yep, I went there. Good God, this man and his words are enough to bring any angel or demon to their knees. But even he struggles when it comes to Bone. How can he convince her that his side is the best side to take a stance, especially when the demon princes are up to no good. Time to bring on the smolder....

You guys...THIS!!! I thought the first book in this series was great. This is just as compelling, if not more intense. I just can’t get enough of each and every one of the characters this author has introduced us to. But also the story itself that pulls us in to a world that, although crazy and pure fantasy, we want to be a part of it.

I will NOT spoil any part of this book because you HAVE to experience it first hand and through your own eyes. Trust me, if you’re a PNR lover, you’ll regret NOT reading this.

Xander loves to tease his woman, "I leaned my head down to her. “You think I’m pretty? I wondered when you’d notice.” She rolled her eyes..." Xander loves to take care of his girl, "I smiled. “Well, then.” A soft sweeping of lips. “A shower. Then round two.” I liked this book, I fell in love with Xander the man just had a likable personality and I don't mean that sarcastically.
