I love a surprise and this was a huge one for me. This was so romantic, swoony and just an enjoyable read.
You had opposites but not really attracting. The push-pull of attraction was off the charts and I liked both characters.

I read this with only the blurb and it worked on all levels. Take a chance if you haven't read this author before and I think you will be glad you did.

This was a seriously feel-good romance, from the lead characters, Tess and Mason, to Tess's little white dog, Astro, right down to Wick, the utterly adorable, but rather untrained mastiff on the cover.

Tess is 26 yrs old and due to a rather crappy upbringing, dropped out of school at 16, but eventually got her GED, and is now in college, trying to finish up a degree and move on to vet school. She lives in a falling down old house inherited from her grandma, and tries to make ends meet and stay out of debt by working 3 PT jobs (dog walker, vet assistant, and gardener) while going to school. One day, while taking out a couple of dogs in his swanky San Francisco building, she meets Mason, a golden-boy venture capitalist who recently got saddled with Wick, his sister's untrained mastiff. Unfortunately for Mason, the dog is on medication that makes him need to relieve himself pretty much every hour. As the "rainmaker" partner in his firm, Mason's job mainly consists of socializing with movers and shakers, taking meetings, and bringing in new business, so Wick has put a real crimp in his work. When he meets Tess in the elevator, he sees her as the answer to his prayers, and hires her for immediate 8 AM to 8 PM dog sitting.

Although their attraction is immediate, self-reliant Tess is hesitant to get involved with anyone, while commitment-phobic Mason wants to take care of her and just generally wants her, but can't recognize how much deeper his feelings go. These two are pretty adorable as they get to know each other. For Tess, trust comes especially hard as she's been betrayed by pretty much everyone in her life other than her grandma and her best friend. The book wasn't all just surface and light, it definitely plucked my heartstrings a few times. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next book which I think might feature Tess's best friend and Mason's business partner.

Every once in a while, you just need one of those feel good, heartfelt romances. HEARTBREAKER is one of those novels. It made me want to just curl up by a warm fire and enjoy!

Tess is working three jobs and taking online college courses for her degree. One of Tess’ jobs is a dog walker.

Mason is at wits end watching his sister’s mastiff. He is poorly trained and needs to go out all the time. Afraid to leave him alone, Mason knows he will need someone’s help with the dog. Just then he runs into a dog walker in his buildings elevator and offers Tess a full time position watching the misbehaving dog. Tess grabs the opportunity offered by Mason because it will give her enough time to finish up her finals while still providing enough money to survive.

HEARTBREAKER is a touching story. Tess has learned a life lesson to be 100% self-reliant and when feelings start to emerge between the two, Tess’ walls become one hard shell to crack. Then you have the relationship-phobic Mason, who can’t seem to get the frumpy Tess out of his head. He knows there is much more under the mask she hides behind.

Easy, entertaining and heartfelt...perfectly fit into what I needed in a good reading pick.

I received this ARC copy of HEARTBREAKER from Entangled Publishing, LLC - Amara. This is my honest and voluntary review. HEARTBREAKER is set for publication Feb. 25, 2019.

Mason meets his match!

Venture capitalist Mason Coleman needs a dog sitter for his sister’s dog otherwise her landlord will evict her from the house where he lives. He needs someone fulltime so he can go to work and not postpone any more meetings when he runs into dog walker Tess Papion taking care of his neighbor’s dogs, so he hires her to take care of the mastiff. Tess is putting herself through college by working part-time at a vet office and pet walking with hopes of becoming a veterinarian when she finished.

This is the first book by Inara Scott that I’ve read but I’m hoping it won’t be the last because I really enjoyed Heartbreaker because it hits all the points that I love in a romance where the relationship has to grow slowly because insta-love wouldn’t have felt right with the story.

P.S. I want Connor and Nate’s stories!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A fun, flirty love story......with lots of drama to keep you turning the pages. It holds your attention from start to finish and is a yummy quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m new to this author but definitely can see she’s going to become a new favourite of mine if her books are all like this one. I highly recommend this book.

Really loved this book.
It was a very sweet premise, dog sitter meets dog trainer and sparks fly.
This story became unexpectedly emotional as Tess, the dog trainer's, story is revealed. She has had to battle her way through life, an unreliable mother, an elderly grandmother, a deadbeat boyfriend. At 26 she is finally on a path to a brighter future but the road is hard.
Mason, on the other hand, is a self made millionaire, seemingly a carefree Playboy. However, Mason is dissatisfied with the status quo. He is yearning for something more, professionally and personally.
I loved the slow burn of their love story. It felt authentic and I invested my heart into wanting the HEA.

I really hope this is the beginning of a series, Mason's business partners, Nate and Connor, as well as lawyers Luke and Zoe deserve to find love too.

An excellent read.

This is my first book by Inara Scott. It will most certainly not be my last. I loved “Heartbreaker”! The book is sweet, sexy and a definite page turner. I loved the main characters, Tess and Mason. They seem to be total opposites. Tess had a rough childhood and is trying to finish her schooling while juggling several jobs. Mason had a great childhood and is part of a group of friends who have made billions in Silicon Valley. When Mason’s sister dumps her adorable dog, Wick, at his place, Mason is at a loss how to deal with the big, goofy mastiff. Enter Tess, a woman working several jobs, including dog walker/trainer. Mason grabs at a chance meeting with Tess and convinces her to be Wick’s dog sitter.
The sparks fly from the moment the two meet, and it only gets better. Tess is living pay check to pay check, trying desperately to put her difficult past behind her and move on, studying to become a veterinarian. She is defensive about her life and wary of men like Mason, who seem to have it all. Mason, meanwhile, is intrigued by the “grubby urchin” he’s met, and little by little he begins to needle his way into her life. The two embark on an affair, with neither of them realizing just how close they are becoming with each day.
The characters were so much fun, and I had a serious crush on Mason. And it was so easy to identify with Tess and her struggles. The dialogue was snappy and fun, and I was so sorry when the book ended. Ms. Inara created a world that I was more than happy to inhabit. And I am eagerly awaiting the next books in the series. I highly recommend this one!
Note: I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Heartbreaker by Inara Scott is the story of Tess Papion and Mason Coleman.
Tess didn't have the best mother, she was flighty and always with the wrong guy. When Tess was about 16 she took a chance on trusting a guy but that just showed her that men and relationships can't really be trusted. So she is now self sufficient with three part time jobs and taking college classes to get ahead in life. Mason is the ultimate rich person with no plans to do a real relationship and just skims by with his encounters and few dates. Then he is left with his sister's dog who has no control or discipline at all. Mason knows he needs full time help with the dog...enter in Tess. Tess agrees to take on the dog full time. Mason knows there is more to Tess then she is showing and she is bring feelings to him that he didn't think he could have.
This was a feel good, sweet romance (bonus was the dog)..loved it.

Fun, relaxing, and heartwarming. Tess and Mason just made me smile. Mason is at his wits end caring for his sister's slobbering, unruly, completely out of control Mastiff. That's how Tess enters his life. Tess is working three jobs while finishing up her degree. Trying hard to get her life back on track. She doesn't have time for the uptight, stoic Mason Coleman. The last thing she needs is a man distracting her. When he makes her and offer she can't afford to refuse she caves into helping him. Mason has no idea how Tess will turn his well ordered world upside down!

You don't want to miss this one. I highly recommend it.

This is the first book in Inara Scott's new series and the first of her books I have read.

Tess is a dog walker and trainer who starts working for Mason after his sister leaves her dog with him.

Neither of them does commitment. Tess because she has been hurt and had her trust broken too many times and Mason because he doesn't let relationships get that far.

The author did a nice job with the gradual friendship, attraction, and more that developed between Tess and Mason. It was perfectly paced and the differences in their lives were highlighted nicely without being overdone. I especially liked how they began to appreciate each other for who they are as a person, not just the physical looks, as the story progressed.

The secondary characters were interesting, too, and there was a little bit of set up for future books. I am looking forward to seeing what is next from this series!

A fun and flirty story. Tess and Mason both struggle with trust issues. Tess hides behind her clothes and the dogs she cares for. Mason uses his looks and charm as armor. When they meet they become the weakness in each other’s world. As they hang out, laugh, and experience struggle together they find that they love each other. They realize that love is not weakness but strength.

3.75⭐
Heartbreaker was an engaging, easy to read, sweet romance. That had likable characters and little in the way of angst. And I did enjoy reading this story. Plus, as a new author to me, I would certainly read more from Inara Scott in the future and I would recommend this story to others. Especially if you're in the mood for something sweet, light and easy going.

This is a modern day fairytale with a guarded Cinderella who walks dogs to put herself through college at 26 and a charming, heartbreaking Prince who has it all. Tess typifies Independent woman sydrome after a decade long struggle seeing her mum throw away everything in the name of love and dragging her along to deal with the mess. And a jerk boyfriend who left her pregnant at 16 adds to her belief that she can rely only on herself. Now she has three part time jobs, an ongoing online degree and the nature of a hedgehog.
Everyone who knows Mason Coleman has dubbed him a 'Pretty face with a strict adherence to the four-date rule'. A successful Venture Capitalist with the face of an Angel and supposedly one of the Black Angels, he agrees to take care of his beloved sister's sick dog, the size of a bull, with bladder control issues. In dire need of a trainer, Mason stumbles upon Tess (along with his giant over-excited dog) while she's walking dogs for someone in the same building and makes her an offer she cannot refuse.
What follows is a seriously sexy, fun relationship friends-with-benefits thingy where a pricky Tess, a commitment phobic Mason and their dogs find a way towards happily-ever-after.
Now, give me Nate's and Cece's story already

A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I truly enjoyed this book! These is a hoot! I loved the dog as well. Mason grew on me. The push pull of this story lured me in and kept me flipping through the pages waiting to see what would happen next. Mason is saddled with his sisters Mastiff, untrained, poor bladder control and all around thorn in Mason's side when he meets Tess who happens to be a dog walker and trainer. He lures her into dog sitting for Wick while he's working and evenings if he's got events he needs to tend to. The money is too good for Tess to pass up.
Mason is a highly successful and wealthy businessman with his two college friends. Each of them have different qualities, together they make a tremendous living with a great reputation. Mason is a nice guy. Despite the fact he gets teased about his 4 date rule; which is untrue and that comes back to haunt him in his relationship with Tess. Tess has such a crappy upbringing, until her Grandmother steps in and brings her to live with her near Oakland. Tess is doing her best to make a better life for herself, back in college, working three jobs and the dog walking, the girl works hard to keep a roof over her head and the walls to her heart even harder. Mason takes up a lot of her time and the chemistry between them is outrageously hot. He's clearly taken with her, as she is with him, but pushes him away when he gets close. She's frustrating and I have to hand it to Mason for being fully present and consistent with her. Tess doesn't know how to handle someone who just wants her, she trusts no one except for her best friend Cece.
I loved this story although the book was a slower read than I like and seemed to lag in some spots.
The ending seemed anti-climatic for me. However it doesn't take away that this was a good read and well written. The dogs were the best!
I look forward to Cece's book!

Mason Coleman can’t believe his sister left her 200 pound Mastiff in his care, again. He hates this dog, mainly because he makes him get up at three in the morning to do his business. He needs a dog sitter like yesterday.
Tess Paplion dropped out of school at age sixteen. Yes she finally got her GED, but now she’s trying to get her college degree, in-between working three jobs. Her favorite job is working with pets at a vet clinic, which is how she became a dog sitter for for Mason.
Mason doesn’t do serious relationships, even thou his quirky dog sitter makes him want to break that rule. The best part is that she’s a dog whisperer, has been able to train Wick and now he’s developing feelings for her. Mason knows that Tess is someone with trust issues, so what happens next.
As they get to know each other better, neither one of them is willing to admit the strong feelings they have developed, that could possibly give them a happy ending.
I truly enjoyed this fun book, especially Mason. I highly recommend it.

This was enjoyable, not fantastic but easy to past the time. So we meet Tess who had a difficult past and due to that she was untrusting and stubborn. I liked her but sometimes I wanted to shake her, yes I get the difficult past but sometimes too much is just that too much. We also meet Mason, who is a cute and a sweetheart to his friends, yet he is a commitment phobe and yet he is interested in Tess who he is will have a difficult time to get thru, but what does he want? What bugged me is that if they just would have talked, communicated than they could have avoided much, but then we wouldn't have had a book..Anyhoo that was my issue.

This book started well - Good characters, the plot was intriguing with The Concept of The taking Care of dog with quite A few issues.
Mason is taking Care of his sisters Mastiff and he sucks at it - he needs help with it. So accidental meeting with Tess is like A miracle to him.
Tess is taking Care of dogs, she needs money. So she accepted Mason's offer.
Two very different People, employer-employee connection, past that is important in what were their deeds. This was ok read as I wanted it to be deeper in a relationship and emotional level

Sad but cute...? If that’s possible, this book achieved it. The book was clearly well written and had an incredibly sweet essence but man, this girl has a barge full of baggage. I really wish we could have seen her work through her issues before they got together. Even at the end I kept thinking, there’s no way this will last long term because she is still so dang broken.

I really liked the premise for this story, and so wanted to love it. I just found it really difficult to get into and even more so to keep my attention. This one was a miss for me.
