Honestly you can never go wrong with Fern Michaels. Her books are well written, have suspense and keep you wanting more.

Deep Harbor was an excellent book. CJ worked for Congressman Otto Lewis. Otto committed suicide or did he? Someone was now following CJ. This book was filled with drama and excitement. Typical of Fern Michaels, it had a detailed plot and was an enjoyable read. Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me an advanced reader’s copy.

Deep Harbor is a perfect blend of romance and suspense. Fern Michaels always delivers a great story that keeps me satisfied throughout the book.

When you pick up a book by Fern Michaels you always anticipate a wonderful read. This one is no exception but it is a little different from many of her titles. Political intrigue and suspense start the story and Carol Ann, a secretary to a Senator overhears a conversation she shouldn't. After being put in witness protection the story turns in to very nice romance. Colin runs a fishing business in Maine and is interested in the new lady in town. Carol Ann has several major hangups, including fear of water and boats. The story moves at a great pace and the ending is a pleasant surprise. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a a fair and honest review.

This was different than most Fern Michaels books I've read. It was suspenseful and intriguing. It grabbed me quickly, but then moved pretty slow. By that point, I was far enough into the story that I felt like I needed to see it through. I kept looking for the tell-tale romantic element because I wasn't expecting a story that was straight mystery and suspense. Honestly it took so long for it to show up in the storyline, and while it was nice, it felt like it was rushed. I will continue to read books by this author but I didn't love this as much as others by her; it was just okay for me. Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for honest review.

Haven’t read too many books by Fern but I have read enough to know that she delivers to her audience. Her writing is so engaging. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for a wonderful book that kept me reading from the first sentence to the last word.

A sweet romance, with a few action moments tossed in...it really felt like two different books as the beginning is more action paced and tense, and then second half or so is more of a budding romance and sweeter...

Wow! Great book! If I was watching Law and Order it would start with this is not based on actual events. But you can really imagine this to be based on a true story enhanced with a bit of fiction. A good read.

Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.

It's been a long time since I've read any book by Fern Michaels. This was a great book. It held my attention from the beginning. The storyline and characters were riveting. CJ was strong and tenacious, just the type of person I'd want to have my back. She was a dedicated employee to her boss Snapper so finds it hard to believe that he committed suicide. After much research into his life causing numerous attempts on hers, she enters WITSEC.
She's assigned to Booth Bay Harbor and falls for a charter boat owner. She's always been leery of the water since her brother's death, but somehow it works out. From Derek her new beau, to Donna her handler, and Steve her employer: the characters come to life in this book. And the surprise at the conclusion was an amazing end to one of the best books I've read in quite some time.
I was provided a free ARC eBook from NetGalley and the publisher and provided this honest review.

This is a real page turner. The first page will grab youand you can't put it down. Lots of twists that keeps you guessing. Some surprises also. The characters are so true to life. Politics and FBI and the average people on the street. This story has it all.

I have read quite a few books by this author and I have enjoyed them all. They have tugged my heartstrings in different ways.
I downloaded the book due to the cover, it made think of beauty and feelings, and of course, the blurb. The story started with a bang, CJ worked for a Congressman who had some nefarious dealings and insider trading in stocks and was soon found to have committed suicide. Our brave protagonist started investigating which soon led to some powerful people being incarcerated. Her life being in danger with attempts on it, she was compelled to go into WITSEC, she landed on coast of Maine, met Derek and a love story and happy ending ensued.
Fern Michaels took the main character on a twisty jaunt which was fun to read in some parts. I liked CJ's determination and loyalty to her boss. The story was...nice...I suppose, and it flowed well. But for me, I needed more.
My niggles, 52%of book was a thriller, 10% had her transitioning and moving into witness protection, the rest was a love story. So I couldn't decide what this book was as it didn't engage my emotions either for the thriller section or the romance. In the entire book, the CJ drank bottles of wine, it wasn't a glass or two, always a bottle or two and from the mid half when the story became a love story, she cried in most of the scenes. I couldn't believe she was the daring investigator of the first half. Ufff!!
Overall, I read the book and forgot it. On to my next.

This book is all about relationships. Letting go of the past, and being forced to start new ones. It has a case to be solved and some twists to it. Look for a new C.J. and a new romance.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this from Net Galley for my honest review. Fern Michael's has done it again! I absolutely love all her books and The sisterhood series! I just say this was an amazing stand alone read! I fell in love with CJ's character! This book is full of mystery right until the end! This book shares CJ's sad past and her fight to find the truth in what happened to her boss, at the same time finding herself! This is a 5 star book! I was on a rollercoaster of emotions right till the end!!! Loved this book!

CJ's had a lot of tragedy in her life- her parents, her brother, and now her boss all died too soon. Her boss, Congressman Snapper Lewis, didn't really commit suicide, did he? CJ pokes around but then realizes that she's gotten too close to an uncomfortable truth. So, perhaps wisely, perhaps not, she takes off and moves to a small coastal town. Small towns are good places to hide, until they aren't. This is romantic suspense so keep your eye on her love interest- a charter boat captain. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is popcorn reading: you might guess the end and you might not but it's a fun time.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book started out totally different from any other Fern Michaels's book I've ever read. I thought I was reading a mystery but never fear along came the romance. Great writing, fascinating characters that keep you turning from one page to the next. Wonderful reading! Enjoy! 📚

Best-selling author Fern Michaels once again presents a mystery/thriller with some romance to sweeten the plot. In this book, CJ (Carol) is the assistant to Congressman Snapper Lewis when she sees an unknown man threatening Snapper in his office. Later, the Congressman is found dead in his office and it is ruled a suicide. CJ can't believe that Snapper would take his own life and she digs into the situation and finds that there may have been some criminal activity in his past. Afraid that she may be in harm's way, CJ runs away to a town in New England where she becomes close to a boat captain. Great characters plus a thrilling story make this a four-star book for me!
Thanks to Kensington Books for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is the first book I’ve read from Michaels, I found it to be fast paced at times, the mystery was good and with a wee sprinkling of romance it made it an enjoyable read

CJ has lived a life with so much tragedy involved. First her parents are killed in an Accident and then her brother is accident
So , she is skeptical when her boss and ( mentor ) commits suicide.
CJ feels it deep in her gut that he was murdered.
This starts a wild ride and a another great Fern Michaels read !

Carol Ann CJ has had a rough couple of years. When her parents were killed in a car crash her brother steps up to take care of her. When her brother is killed in a boating accident CJ is lost. She's the assistant to congressman Snapper Lewis. The only thing that she has at this point is her job. When she under covers corruption with her boss in the mix of it she's not sure what to do. After the suicide of her boss CJ is wisked to a small coastal town. Can they keep her safe? Is being close to the water a good idea with loss of her brother from a boating accident. This book was a fast paced read. I was hoping that CJ's life would make a turn for the better.
