This was just as good as the first book and just as good as all of her series. Jennifer L. Armentrout is absolutely fantastic!

Storm and Fury is an engrossing novel that I did not want to put down. I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to the next book (though unfortunately I have to wait so long for it)!

Pros
° Engaging storyline. It was easy to be immersed in the novel as the story itself was interesting and well written. I enjoyed the aspect of the Wardens, demons, and other such paranormal species that filled the book. It was fast paced and easy to follow, full of action and suspence.

°Decent World-building. The world was interesting, and explained enough to understand the important settings. I do wish we got a bit more about the other Warden compounds though, as well as what it's like for the demons.

°Interesting Characters. Our MC, Trinity, is strong, brave, can hold her own, loyal, and she stops at nothing to help those who are close to her, even if it means getting herself hurt.

Zayne is strong, brave, and does not follow anything blindly, making him an admiral character. He is perhaps my favourite character, constantly thinking ahead and being smart about situations. I definitly want more of him in the next book.

°Decent Plot. There were certain twists that were predictable, and also some that weren't. Regardless, it was enjoyable to read and kept me interested. I read this book fairly quickly as I was so engrossed in the story and did not want to put it down.

°The Romance. At first I thought it would be the typical insta-love because they noticed each other right away. But thankfully the author made it progress very naturally and I definitly ship it.

Cons
°The beginning is a bit of a rough start. I disliked our MC at first, as she acted a bit like a brat and was slightly annoying. Thankfully she grew throughout the novel.

°Our MC repeatedly refers to herself as a special snowflake who coukd take down any warden or demon, which I found somewhat annoying because it made her character seem more arrogant than she really is.

Overall, this is a very good start to the series and I do recommend you give it a try.

I have to say that Jennifer Armentrout is by far one of my favorite authors. I love her characters, her writing skills and her story building.
Storm and Fury did not disappoint. I fell in love with this book, with Trinity and Zayne. Their chemistry is just...wow! From the beginning I knew it was going to be good. I can't wait for this book to come out and have everyone else feel the same way! I need book 2 like now please!

Oh my Gods! The continuation of the Dark Elements story line!!! But this time Layla and Roth are secondary characters. This time Zayne, a warden and friend/love interest of Layla in the Dark Elements trilogy, meets Trinity a true-born or nephilim. Trinity is bonded to her Protector Misha, a brotherly figure, who is taken when an upper level demon breaks into the compound to get Trinity. So Trinity returns to DC with Zayne in hopes of finding him and help with a being that is killing Wardens and Demons alike. To get help Zayne turns to Roth and Layla, which opens Trinity's mind up to the grey area of their world. Of course over this time Zayne and Trin develop feelings for each other. Eventually the four meet at a Tennessee Senators house, who is working with Bael the demon who took Misha. But there is a twist in the end which complicates things. I CANNOT wait until book 2 comes out!!!!

Trinity lives n a community of gargoyles. These beings are reallybwardens who defend humans from demons. That is their purpose. In this complex world, Armentrout makes us question which faction has the right idea. I will say this ended on a cliffhanger, and I personally don’t care for that. All in all it is a great story that questions where do your loyalties lie....

OMG! Another hit by Jennifer Armentrout, I can't wait to read the next book! Trinity the main character is bad ass, she is just so inspiring when she fights. First time Misha is introduced, I knew he will be my new book boyfriend, then Zayne gets in the story! I can't choose which one is my favorite so far. The premise of the book is soawesome! A new species of humans/gargoyles who are set up to protect humans, they call themselves the Wardens. Then there is Trinity a mix human-gargoyle, never seen before since they are not allowed to mix, so we know she is going to be awesome since she is going to be kick ass in the story. Love it, I'm recomending the book to all of my book club friends!!!!

Trinity is something very special and she’s living with the gargoyles so they can keep her safe and hidden. Misha is bonded to her as her guardian/protector.

Some bad things start happening and another clan comes for a visit to ask for help. There is something out there killing the Wardens/Gargoyles and demons.

Zayne is with the group that comes to visit and try to figure things out. Zayne, swoon! Anyhoo!

As we know always happens, the person you’re hiding gets found out and is in trouble. But no one knows what kind of hell Trinity is going to bring down on everyone when they capture Misha.

I’m not going into spoilers, I just want to say this book was freaking awesome with some bad ass characters. And even though Trinity is the ultimate, she has a disability so kudos for that being incorporated into the book.

Trinity also has a funny sidekick type friend named Peanut that if you don’t love, there is something wrong with you!!

I can’t freaking wait for the next book!!

It's been awhile since the Dark Elements series was out, for which this is a spin off. I had a little difficulty getting into the story at the beginning. Trinity is very impulsive and it took me a little bit to learn her quirks and like her.
Zayne.....oh, how I've missed him. That man deserves a HEA so much. We get to see Zayne grow into his own in this book. We also get to revisit some old favorites.
I'm not sure which was my favorite part, the scenes with just Trinity & Zayne playing off each other or Roth & Zayne scenes arguing with each other.
Jennifer Armentrout excels in those dialogues. She makes you want to live in those worlds and have those friends. She breathes a stunningly fresh life into what could easily be an ordinary story in lesser hands.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Fans will absolutely to rabid of this one!

Jennifer Armentrout is one of my all time favorite authors! Her ability to immediately suck me in and to help me build deep connections with the characters gets me every time! Her writing is relatable and easy to read, yet not "fluffy". There is always substance and lots of feels mixed in with the action and adventure! This book was no exception and did not disappoint! I loved re-entering the world of Gargoyles and am so excited to watch Zayne find some peace. Trinity is a compelling character and I love how brave Armentrout is to put her own personal experience with vision challenges onto the pages. And... the supporting cast was so much FUN! My only complaint is that it is over and that I now have to wait for the second book!

So far, I'm really enjoying this book. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I'm interested in reading other books by her now. It's a story of Trinity, a human girl, or so we are led to believe, who is living among Wardens which are gargoyles tasked to fight Demons. Trinity has a secret, though, one only few know. It makes her a weapon and the demons want her. It's got a wonderful plot and the characters have a depth of spirit. Trinity is feisty and kick-@ss, but flawed. She's so powerful, but nearly blind. What an idea, to write a character in this dangerous world who had to reply on herself and her other senses. I love it. And then there's Zayne the flawed gargoyle, who is missing part of his soul. They are suppose to be pure and perfect. Can these imperfect characters learn to work together to save their friend? I can't wait for the next book.

DIsclaimer - Even though I'm old (40) I like YA fantasy. I loved the beginning of A court of thorn and roses. I love the Shadow Hunter Series. However, Storm and Fury, sadly I may just be too old.

First, its a spin off. So if you didn't read The Dark Elements series (I didn't) then you may not become invested in the book (which I didn't, although I may try the first book because I do like the authors writing style)

There isn't too much else I can say about this. It just wasn't for me.

Sexy shapeshifting gargoyle boys! Count me in!

I was initially confused because this one jumps right into the story. Turns out it's a spin-off, so that explains a lot.

It started of a little slow but once the action starts it doesn't really let up.

I really liked Trinity. She could have easily been an obnoxious Chosen One ™ type but the book managed to avoid that.



Also Trinity is disabled which I appreciate so much as a disabled woman. Every bit of representation matters and I love the matter of fact way a degenerative disease is s dealt with.

I did not expect to like this book. I don't usually read paranormal, but I liked some of Armentrout's other YA publications and decided to give it a try. And how'd it go? I got to watch a strong female lead kick demon ass. nbd.

I loved how Trin was motivated to succeed in multiple facets of her life, and that romance didn't seem to be at the forefront of her mind. She instead excelled at wielding knives and protecting the people she loves, and the love interest arrived and developed along the way. Plot-wise I was able to see the twists and advancements pretty well before they happened, but that didn't keep me from enjoying the story.

One thing that did bother me was how Trin's spotty vision wasn't explained until probably the last 1/4 of the book. I understand withholding information to make one more invested in the character or story, but the reveal felt contrived. I spent 3/4 of the book annoyed, wondering "why is this a thing" and then she reveals it during this heart-to-heart and it really didn't feel like the right moment. Don't get me wrong-it was beautifully written-but I think the reason could've been mentioned in the beginning, then clarified at the later point.

Overall, I did enjoy Storm and Fury and will most likely continue the series. It was a little break from my usual stripe.

So before I get to my actual review I wanted to throw in a few disclaimers. When I requested this ARC on NetGalley I had mistaken it for another book, but I'm glad I did! The first few chapters reminded me of another series called the Covenant but better written. Well it wasn't until halfway through the book that I looked up the author, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and realized that she had in fact written the Covenant series. Her writing has improved since that series was released and it was so easy to get sucked into this new world. This series is also a spinoff to a previous Trilogy called The Dark Elements, and it is suggested that it is read before Storm and Fury. I did not read that series, but after meeting Roth and Layla I might have to pick it up. Even without reading any of those books first though I think Armentrout does a good job of catching us up and explaining the world so thoroughly that this series can be read on its own.

The opening of the book was a tad confusing, like I should have already known what a Warden was and what they did. That makes sense since it's a spin-off though. Even being a bit confused I was quickly caught up, and not in an infodump kind of way. When we are first introduced to Trinity she is in a bit of a situation with a boy but she took care of it herself and her protector Misha showed up to help her out. It immediately becomes clear that Trinity is different, even from the Wardens. She is half human and half something else which was really fun to try and figure out. I guessed wrong initially but after a few subtle clues it was easy to pick up on. Misha was not the best protector but it would kind of suck binding your life to some else and having them be your entire life. Mistakes were made but thank goodness for Zayne always seeming to be at the right place at the right time to protect Trinity.

Zayne and his friends are from another Warden compound in DC and came to the compound to request backup for something killing both demons and Wardens. There was an instant connection between Zayne and Trinity. It was very apparent and kind of insta-lovey and of course Trinity's secret comes to light after being kept under wraps for years. But then Misha is taken by a demon and a deal is struck, Zayne will help get Misha back and Trinity will help find whatever is killing the demons and Wardens in DC.

The Good:
Peanut. My favorite character was an apparently bisexual, snoopy, annoying ghost. Any scene he was in had me cracking a smile and instantly trying to reenact the scene going on for my sister. He had such spunk and was such a good friend to Trinity. I also really liked Trinity herself. She wasn't just this super uber special beautiful snowflake that had everything handed to her or men just falling all over her. She worked, HARD and loved her friends fiercely. It was a nice change from some of the female protagonists I've been introduced to before by Armentrout.

The pop culture references were also really good. I'm a huge Supernatural fan so it was funny to have the character make comparisons of their lives to the show. The language used was also relevant to what I use to/still stay with some older references thrown in by Peanut ("What's the 411?"). It also was not done in a cringe-worthy, eyeball-rolling kind of way; It flowed nicely.

The romance. I am not a fan of insta-love or love triangles at all. In fact, I started writing my review halfway through reading the book and thought that’s exactly what I was getting with Trinity and Zayne and that there would be a triangle with Misha, but boy was I wrong. They were a slow almost painful burn. I wanted action to happen like now. I thought they were cute together and loved that he excepted her for who she was, annoying questions 24/7 and all. I can’t wait for the sequel to see where their relationship goes next, especially with that final twist thrown in.

The Bad:
The smut scene. I get this is a Teen & YA book but the almost sex scene was a tad painful to read. I get they’re both virgins but just the way it was described could be improved upon. I promise we won’t freak out if you use the word nipple.

So besides the smut scene I thought the book flowed nicely and I was definitely reading it at work because I was so caught up in the story. The plot twist at the end gutted me, thus why this is the bad section. I sincerely liked Misha. Was he a crap protector? Well yeah but Trinity loved him like a brother so he was redeemable to me. His betrayal was a shock and not what I saw coming for them. I was expecting that love triangle I mentioned earlier. I’m sad he’ll no longer be a part of this story though and would have liked to have seen him redeemed instead.

Final Thoughts:
This book was not what I expected at all. Even halfway through I thought I had it all figured out but the two plot twists at the end really threw me. I loved Trinity and Roth was hilarious. Even Zayne is starting to grow on me. I would highly recommend this book if you’re into the whole angels, demons, end times thing and if not it was still a good read. I’m not sure how I’ll wait over a year for the sequel which is definitely going on my highly anticipated realeases list for next year.

PSA: If you have any inclination to read the Dark Elements Series, READ IT BEFORE THIS BOOK. Most of the main plot points are spoiled in this book. You don't have to read that series to pick this one up, but it might lessen your reading experience of the Dark Elements if you go into it after this book.

This just might be my favorite Jennifer L Armentrout book yet. I love her YA realistic fiction, and I've enjoyed her paranormal/urban fiction, but I fell in LOVE with this book. I am so, so, so glad I decided to read the Dark Elements series prior to picking up this ARC. It made all the difference. It made it so that I could know what Zayne was feeling without his story being presented in this book. It made it so that the supporting characters were already familiar to me, and I loved seeing them all again. And I loved the new characters, especially Peanut.

I felt for Zayne. I felt for Trinity. And even though they had mostly paranormal problems, they are completely relatable in a realistic world. Trinity's eye sight brought a whole dimension to the story that I really, really, enjoyed. Sigh...so good. I'm just so sad that I am going to wait FOREVER for the next in the series. I will definitely be buying this when it comes out in June.

This book was a spin off of The Dark Elements series. Zayne gets his own story, which I was so excited to see! However, you didn't need to read the previous books to understand this one. I love the new character Trinity, she is strong, stubborn, funny and full of love and loyalty. I would have liked to see some of the story from Zayne perspective, but hopefully that will come in future books. This book made me laugh out loud at times and cry. My emotions were all over the place. Trinity is sheltered by her clan, and Zayne is curious as to why. They have a spark between each other right away, and I loved seeing them create their story together.

Summary

This follows the story of Trinity, a girl with extraordinary powers of being able to see and talk to spirits. She finds herself in a world where there are demons and Wardens who protect from them. There is a surprising turn of events where Wardens from another area come to her clan to seek refuge, as Wardens have been mysteriously being killed. One of Trinity's friends is taken during a battle and she and her clan, as well as the intriguing Zayne, must work together to find her friend and stop the demon behind the killings.

Likes

I'll preface by saying that when I requested this, I didn't realize that it was a spin-off of a previous series, The Dark Elements. I actually have read and own the first two books in that series and did enjoy them! Zayne was a character from that story and it was awesome to see him again in this different setting and storyline. There were also appearances from Layla and Roth, who I fell in love with in the other series. Roth is my favorite character simply because I love his humor, sarcasm, and spite. I love the world that this story is told in, as it's a little similar to the Shadowhunter world. There are demons and protectors and all that jazz, which is something I simply enjoy. I also liked Trinity as a main character--she has moments of discovering more about herself and of course there's a little bit of romance thrown in there. She felt genuine and I really appreciate that in a main character. There were some twists at the end that did surprise me and I like when a book can keep me on my toes.

Dislikes

Unfortunately, there were more dislikes than likes for me in this book. I couldn't really find myself getting enveloped in the story and drawn in like I have with other books by this author, I'm not sure what it was. This book is also very long so I felt like it took till about a quarter through the book before I started to become interested in what was happening in the story. That being said, I didn't really feel like too much happened. I feel that it's truly just set the stage for the rest of the series and that's why not too much happened. It was predictable--at times--and I really didn't find myself caring what happened to the characters that much. The romance felt forced to me and I knew from the moment Zayne showed up that there would be something between them, but it didn't feel as organic as I had hoped it would. I feel that the ending did make me interested in what the rest of the series has in store and now that the background is set, it could definitely catch my interest a little bit more.

Recommendation

I'd recommend this to people who have read the Dark Elements series and those who enjoy tales of demons and harbingers!

Gosh, I just love Jennifer Armentrout's books! There are some great action scenes as well and addicting writing! Armentrout always knows how to sprinkle in the perfect amount of humor. I love how it ended because it's open for the next book but not the deadly bomb of a cliffhanger. So I'm so very interested to see what happens next!

This book had a great story line. The characters chemistry was wonderful. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished. It left me in suspense many times but Jennifer never disappoints! I love that we got to see Bambi I really missed her! I hope she can return to Roth where she belongs ♥️
