I wasn't a fan. I think it just wasn't something that resonated with me, I couldn't get myself into this collection.

I enjoyed these poems very much!
Finally a collection of poetry that doesn't only have substance, but it's also a joy to my inner ears to "hear" the words, the rhymes out! It conveys a fun cynical, sometimes a bit skeptic or ironic take on life, all the while showing light to issues that us, individuals and society have - which is something I always appreciate. It made me think and laugh at the same time. There were only a couple of poems that weren't a hit for me, most of them I enjoyed very much. That's why I rate this one 4.5 stars, of course grounding it up where necessary.

John Gillies writes in verse that ranges from tragic to comedic. What stands out most about these poems is the author’s talent for arranging them, showcasing the present power of rhyme (even in contemporary poetics).

This is a book to be savored and even to be added to readings in a modern poetry course.

If poems could be referred to as "delicious" then I'd call this compilation, just that.
As a Writer, reading "Writer's Panel" was like coming home and feeling like someone else gets me and has asked the questions I've often asked. If you're looking for something unexpected then this is the book to read. Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
