Jen Dixon from the book "Class Mom" is back on the job. This year she is not only class mom at her son's school, but she is also in charge of the safety patrol. As always, Jen deals with everything with lots of shade and humor. I love reading her snarky emails to the parents, and the tales of her crazy life as a mom and a wife. This is the perfect summer read for when you just need a good laugh!

After thoroughly enjoying the first in this series, "Class Mom", I was excited to learn there was a sequel. The result, for me, did not live up to the original. The story felt a bit forced, and never seemed to focus in on anything in particular. Also lacked the humor of the first.

I loved Class Mom so much when I read it years ago, so I was super excited when I heard Laurie Gelman was writing a follow up! Jen returns as the class mom of her son's third grade class. Her laugh out loud, sarcastic emails, are what all class moms wish they could say! If you have spent any time volunteering in your child's class, you will totally relate to Jen! Trying to convince other parents to do things they don't want to do, fighting the effects of aging, managing the ups and downs and surprises of family life...it's real ya'll and it's hard! If you can't laugh about it, you won't survive!! Thank you Laurie Gelman for this entertaining read!

I loved "Class Mom" so you can imagine how excited I was to get an advanced copy of "You've Been Volunteered", sequel to the first book. Thank you NetGalley, Laurie Gelman, and Henry Holt & Company for the opportunity to be one of the first ones to read and review this awesome book!
And once again Laurie Gelman does not disappoint...I was belly laughing while reading about Jen Dixon's new adventures in being Class Mom!

Jen Dixon is back as class mom! If you haven’t read Class Mom, pick that one up first. This sequel did not disappoint with it's laugh out loud moments. Jen Dixon is class mom again for her son’s class. Max is now in third grade and has a little more attitude than his kindergarten year. Jen is just as snarky as ever! This is a fun, quick read perfect to dive into when you need something light and something to brighten your mood. Can’t wait for more from this author!

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC!

This was a fun, entertaining story, and I was happy to get to hang out with Jen Dixon again. It's a little snarky and sassy, a little heartfelt (behind Jen's tough exterior is someone who fiercely cares about her family and friends), and was a light take on the dramas of parenting and family. Jen ends up in unlikely but hilarious situations, and I love the storylines with her older daughters. Great read, especially if you have a sense of humor about school, kids, and relationships.

Second book in a series. I wasn't aware of that when I signed up to review this one for Netgalley, but luckily I was able to find the first one on Scribd and it was a quick little read. If you can't find it, that's ok, because this can be read as a standalone and you won't miss much, because of the time jump. The first dealt with over the line flirting, but the heart of this one was bullying and secrets.
Jen's not your average class mom. She's a cool mom. She's sarcastic and doesn't care if you like it or not. As a sarcastic Jen myself, this went from humorous to annoying a few times. There were a few other annoying things, like how she adds an S to the end of nicknames (Laurs, Neens, Vivs, etc) and how she joked about neglecting her kid for allowing him fast food or more than 30 minutes of tv in a week.
It's more than likely not for me, but I can see it being a fun summer read for people who feel the overreach of the PTA. Me? They just ignore me.
2.5/3
*I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

You've Been Volunteered is Laurie Gelman's second book featuring her loveable and snarky main character, Jen Dixon. Lots of laugh out loud funny emails and moments in this book as well as relief from any reader who isn't currently a class mom. You won't regret spending a lazy summer day snickering through this tale. Read and enjoy!

Got this book because it sounded funny and I can relate. It was funny but confusing with back and fourth and organization of the book seemed off. I didn’t finish. I lost interest 😏

Hilarious! This book would get 10 stars if I could give it. Jen is my hero. As a volunteer myself, Jen says everything we are all thinking. As class mom she is pulled into a new assignment, safety patrol while keeping up with class mom and her family. Her emails are laugh-out-loud funny. I love the way Jen handles life at school, her marriage, and her children. This book takes on a comical adventure. You'll stay up all night laughing.

This book is a riot, You've Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman, is hysterical. I loved very page and every funny (sometimes over the top) email she shared with other parents as the Class Mom. This was so true to life for me, other than having sons, no daughters, I remember those days; the begging for other moms to help, bake for the bake sale, plan class parties, choose gifts for teachers, and the list goes on! It's like a full time job, I only wish I would have been wiser to add the wit, and the humor along with the demands in all those emails! So much fun reading how Jenny takes on the helicopter moms along with her own budding family life! Read it, laugh a little. Thank you #NetGalley #HenryHoltandCo #You've Been Volunteered

Jen Dixon returns to her stint as a school volunteer in this follow-up to Class Mom, this time as the class mom for her son Max's 3rd grade class and official organizer for the 5th grade safety patrol. Her job duties include organize field trip chaperones, school party snacks, and figuring out which lucky parent gets to don the ugly neon vest and stand in the cold to make sure the 5th grade crossing guards don't need help. Her escapades are all documented in hilarious emails to the other parents.

At the same time, Jen's family life is a little hectic at the moment - her mother has a new outlook on life following her bout with cancer (which includes spending money like crazy and introducing new colorful curse words to her vocabulary), her daughters are dealing with romantic troubles, and her husband is launching a chain of yoga studios - an ambitious project that requires her to start using coupons and avoid buying "designer brands."

I loved Class Mom and You've Been Volunteered is a perfect follow-up. I'd like to think that if I had to be a class mom and deal with OPC - Other People's Children - (or any chidden for that matter), I'd be a lot like Jen. Her group emails are blunt and witty, and often lead to hilarious hijinks. I love the relationship she has with her daughters too. Jen just doesn't pull any punches with anyone and it's great.

Laurie Gelman has done it again with "You've Been Volunteered " and I am already waiting for a 3rd book detailing the trials and tribulations of Jen Dixon. If you are looking for a character who is relatable and hilarious (your literary BFF), look no further.

I loved Class Mom so I was so excited to get my hands on the sequel. Just like the first book, You’ve Been Volunteered was hysterical. I laughed my way through this book as Jen takes on being the class mom (and head of the Safety Patrol once again). This book is a fun read that will have you laughing all the way through.

You've Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman is available on July 23, 2019. This is a sequel to the book Class Mom.

Jen Dixon returns as class mom and has taken on yet another roll, safety patrol organizer. With her quit witted emails and fast paced life she is trying to balance everything from 3rd grade attitude, complicated friendships, financial struggles, adult children, aging parents, and keeping her sanity as well as her sense of humor through it all

This is a sequel to the book Class Mom and I would recommend reading it first. I enjoyed both books and I think you would too if you are a suburban mom who has ever volunteered for anything related to elementary school The main character is clever and snarky but the book is still a quick, lighthearted read that is perfect for moms who are in that busy school age phase. Jen says what we all want to say but don't. If you liked Class Mom, you can expect more of the same in this second novel.

I also enjoy these books because they take place in Overland Park, Kansas which is basically my neighboring suburb and I think that she does a good job of portraying Midwest suburban living, especially for someone who does not live here.

Thank you to Netgalley and Henry Hold Publishing for the free copy of You've Been Volunteered in exchange for my honest review. You can pick up your own copy on July 23, 2019!

This book was super hilarious and kinda relatable too! This is the first Laurie Gelman book that I have read and I absolutely loved it! Jen is no less than a super mom! School politics, friends, family, phew! Jen manages it all! Go Class Mom!
Highly recommended, especially if you want to have a good laugh! (come on, who doesn't!)

I think any mom of a school age child will find this book laugh out loud funny! Sure, we can call it fiction, but you will read this book and relate these characters to people in your life. Well written and so humorous even though it does deal with some serious life issues as well.

Too bad I never got class mom emails like the ones in this book!

Second in the series, it does stand alone, but I want to read the first one now.

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.

I really enjoyed "Class Mom" so I was excited to have the chance to read "You've Been Volunteered" The often hilarious Jen Dixon is back in her role as class mom once again, this time with a new set of challenges and a new parent to deal with. It was nice to settle back into Jen's life, but I have to admit that I didn't find "You've Been Volunteered" as fresh as I did "Class Mom." Rather than laugh at each email, as I did with "Class Mom," I found myself rolling my eyes at a couple of them.

Still, this is a fun read, and one you'll enjoy if you've read "Class Mom." If you haven't read it first, though, I'm not sure you'll find Jen as great as someone who did. I'd recommend starting with that.
