Laurie Gelman’s follow up to Classmom is yet another snippet of the life of a school volunteer! You’ve Been Volunteered is sure to be THE laugh out loud book of 2019 add in thought-provoking topics like kindness, homelessness, breast cancer, and complicated relationships its a guaranteed best seller. The side-splitting emails are a little further apart but I loved them and laughed just as hard. With an ending that sets the reader up for another year with Jess jumping different hurdles as class mom yet again my figures are crossed that we haven't seen the last of email we will read from J Dixon. Preorder it now to guarantee yourself a great read on July 23. Thank you to @netgalley and @henryholtbooks for the advance copy for review.

I was a big fan of Laurie Gelman's debut novel "Class Mom," so I was very excited to get an advanced copy of the sequel. In this book, snarky mom Jen Dixon is back, now the class parent for her son's 3rd grade class, not to mention being basically volun-told to be the coordinator for a parent-student crossing guard initiative. Like the first book, it's just hilarious and relatable, with lots of laugh out loud moments and lines I felt compelled to read out loud to my poor teenage daughter who had the misfortune to be in the room with me part of the time I was reading. And not just a satire of PTA moms and crazy moms in general, but lots of stuff both relatable and funny about everything from parenthood to marriage to friendship to spin class. Highly recommend both books (definitely start with the first one) to anyone looking for a quick, light, super funny read.

I loved this one just as much as class mom I love that Jen is so sarcastic she is back as the Third grade class mom this time around! If you have not read class mom you should read that one first. This one is laugh out loud funny and I just loved it I hope we get another Jen Dixon book

I enjoyed Laurie Gelman’s first book, Class Mom. You’ve Been Volunteered is just as funny. This book was a great and hilarious read!

Jen Dixon is back this year as third grade class mom. Just as her first book, Class Mom, the author keeps us laughing at the hilarious situations Jen gets herself in. I just love the emails! Every time she fires up the computer, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to read it. I can’t imagine what it must be like as a class parent getting these. Big changes are in store for the family in this book. What impresses me most of all about this writing is that it’s a family rooted in love, compassion and caring. Even Jen’s interactions with others seem to come from a place of love. A delightful summer afternoon read.

I read Class Mom a few months ago and I knew I needed to read the follow up. This book did not disappoint. This was funny and down to earth. It was such a treat.

I will feature this book in the Summer Reading Guide next month.

I'm of fan of this series for fun, light reading. Recommended for parents whose children's school years continue to delight and devastate them in unpredictable waves.

Loved it! If you enjoyed Class Mom, you’ll really like You’ve Been Volunteered. Jen is back with more shenanigans. The kids are older and the parents are just as funny. A great book for anyone who’s had had to endure the zaniness of parent relationships.

Read this book. No really. Stop everything, pick up this book and settle in for laughter and a great story. I loved Class Mom and while You've Been Volunteered didn't have the same type of story as Class Mom, it had all of the same characteristics. I love the snark, the crazy escapades and all of the characters.

I love these characters so much. In Class Mom we met Jen Dixon and she is back with her sarcastic witty humor in this book! You really need to read that book before you read this one since it follows the characters two years later.

I laughed out loud and as a Mom could relate to Jen’s experiences. This book delves into real life of a Mom trying to be her best for her family and she tries to have a sense of humor along the way. These two books are worth a read and they would be perfect for a beach read during the summertime because they are feel good books!

4 laugh out loud, wipe the tears, don’t wet your pants stars to You’ve Been Volunteered!⁣

I enjoyed Laurie Gelmans first book, Class Mom. I am happy to report that there is no sophomore slump in book two! In fact, I think the author has found her stride and I enjoyed book two even more!⁣

In this installment, Jen Dixon is back as class mom for her sons 3rd grade class. In addition to her role, Jen has been tasked as the head of the safety patrol volunteers. Shenanigans ensue and her class emails are back in action.⁣

I LOVE the snark and witty writing that Laurie Gelman nails in these books. Because I was already invested in the characters I quite enjoyed reading the update on their lives. I highly recommend reading Class Mom before this. While it could work as a stand alone, I think the first book leads into You’ve Been Volunteered quite nicely. Look for this book in July, it will be a wonderful addition to your summer reading lists! Thank you @henryholtbooks for this advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

I was so excited when I got an advanced reader copy of You’ve Been Volunteered from Netgalley (thanks, and btw all opinions are my own!) If you haven’t already read Class Mom by Laurie Gelman, than run and go read that now before this one comes out in July! Seriously it’s just a light but oh so funny book to read. I think this one might even be better than her first one! This book picks right back up with Jen as she embarks another year as class mom…oh and safety patrol volunteer coordinator too. I think this book would be extra fun to read if you have kids in school, but even someone like me with no kids really enjoyed it! This is a must read.

Everything I loved about Class Mom is here in the "sequel" - whipsmart dialogue, hilarious situations, and crazy characters. Gelman has clearly been in the PTA because she nails these women perfectly!

This book was so fun! I’ve read Class Mom from this author and really enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was just as good as that one. I enjoyed the story and the characters were very well written.

Loved this one! It continues the story of the Class Mom and does not disappoint! I couldn’t put it down and was cracking up at the emails and dialogue in the book. Gelman’s follow up to Class Mom hit it out of the park!

This book is fun and relatable. If you are a mom you will find humor in this book. Start with Class Mom and read this next!

I always worry that the sequel can't live up to the first book, but that was definitely not the case, I thought it was even better! There were so many moments where I laughed out loud ( I LOVE the story line about the kid with the peanut allergy!) and was pleasantly surprised to find there were some deeper topics tackled here as well. I'm crossing my fingers that we get another year of Jen being Class Mom!

Funny, fast paced novel. Even better than the first Class Mom book. A hilarious look inside Jen Dixion’s life as a fifty something wife, mother, and of course class mom. While Jen navigates the ups and downs of her life and tries to keep her family on track you will tear up and laugh out loud minutes later. Excellent uplifting book, not to be missed.

You’ve been volunteered is the latest novel by Laurie Gelman and the sequel to Class Mom. I really liked Class Mom and I absolutely loved the latest installment. Main character, Jen Dixon is witty, sarcastic and absolutely hysterical. Her views on life and motherhood are authentic and raw. She’s the best friend that I wish I had. You will laugh throughout the story, while she navigates life as a 3rd grade class mom, mom to 3, wife and caregiver. She even teaches a lesson or two during this engaging and captivating story. 5 stars.

This woman may be my spirit animal.

I found Class Mom a little later than most, but devoured it once I did. I was beyond excited to find there was a sequel - You’ve Been Volunteered - And when I managed to get my hands on a #netgalley, I actually did a happy dance.

The main character is far from perfect as a mom, but that’s exactly what makes her so relatable. From dealing with the usual struggles of parenting to the politics of school, to the non-parental issues of missing a best friend that’s moved away, she is the type of character you can connect with almost immediately.

The pace of the story, sense of humor, and incredibly realistic and relatable inner dialogue made me want to read more and more. Can’t recommend this enough!
