While I am not a mom myself, I absolutely LOVED Class Mom and was so excited to read You've Been Volunteered. The sequel absolutely does not disappoint. I definitely recommend reading Class Mom first, but it is not essential. Jen is the class mom yet again, and her emails will have you laughing out loud. Her family life gets a little more serious in this round, which is another reason to absolutely read this book.

Laurie Gelman is hilarious and I expected nothing less in her second book. Loved Class Mom and her newest book is equally entertaining. Many laugh out loud moments being that I have children the same age as those in the book!

This was a great book! Very fast read that held my attention throughout the entire book. It was very enjoyable. The characters were likeable and VERY relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

A follow up to Class Mom, Laurie Gelman does not disappoint. I do not have children myself, but found myself wondering if the PTA is truly like this. This is well written and witty.

While this is a sequel, it can be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend reading Class Mom too!

I really enjoyed this book. I have not read Gelman's first book yet but this makes me eager to! While there were references to the plot in Class Mom, I feel like there's a bit I missed out on, though I still believe this is a stand alone book. Entertaining for sure - I loved Jen's emails to the class.

Jen Dixon is back!! This is the second Class Mom novel and I loved it! If you haven’t read Class Mom, go read it now! If you’re local, you can borrow mine!! Jen Dixon is back to her class mom duties and her son is in third grade now. This time around Jen’s mother just beat breast cancer, one daughter moved home while the other is touring Europe with a band, her best friend moved away, and her husband is trying to expand his business. On top of all that, she gets volunteered to lead the new student safety patrol. Jen tackles it all with sarcasm and humor. Her emails to the parents of William H. Taft Elementary School are exactly what every PTA committee chair and room mom are thinking but are too afraid to write. I loved the relationship between Jen and Max’s teacher who she affectionately refers to as Razzi. As a mom of two elementary school kids and an elementary school teacher, I was laughing the whole way through the book. Again, Laurie Gelman nails what it’s like to be a mom in 2019! My gratitude goes to Netgalley and Henry Holt & Company for an early e-copy of this title. I laughed so hard the tears were streaming down my face. And it’s fairly hard to pierce my wry sense of humor but Gelman manages, every time. Where was she when I was a PTA president?

This is the second in the Class Mom series – I hope there’s lots more to come. Jen Dixon took a break, but now she’s once again become the class mom for Max’s third grade class. Her signature – her hilarious and snarky emails to the rest of the parents in Max’s class. And she took a foray into helping out with safety patrol, which mostly didn’t go well.

I don’t recommend you read this while drinking coffee or you may sort some up your nose, but please do read it. The book is light and refreshing like an ice-cold coke with a squirt of lime. And so satisfying.

Jen is back and just as snarky and funny as ever! Loved this sequel. Keeps you laughing while still dealing with some heavy situations at times. Having done the PTA thing I could relate. Great job, Laurie Gelman!

Second installment in the Class Mom series — this time Max has made it to 3rd grade and Jen has been dragged back into Class Mom-hood after a well-deserved one year break. Every bit as laugh-out-loud funny as the first book, in this installment Jen takes on a new PTA president, some surprises from her two thought-to-be-fully-launched daughters, and a couple of possible swingers — all with the aid of her cancer-boob embellished punching bag in the basement.

Snarky, clever, and hysterical, this is a light, fun, romp through housewifedom and motherhood that will keep you laughing for days (and possibly change your perspective of Kansas City altogether).

Jen is back! I really enjoyed Class Mom so I was excited to see a sequel. I like how relatable Jen is and the situations she often finds herself in, but I do find some of the other school moms a bit cliched,
Also, not a huge fan of the way everything worked out so perfectly - a huge, unexpected gift that takes care of a major work concern! homeless guy’s problems solved! bitchy school moms become friends! Please. Only in book world.
Overall, it was enjoyable and cute, but lacking a little of the sass that was Class Mom.

This sequel to Class Mom did not disappoint. I found it easy to read and entertaining. Jen Dixon’s experiences are relatable to anyone who has had a child in elementary school. I love how she incorporates life with adult children and aging parents too.

This book was very funny to read, just like the first one! I love Jen’s sense of humor and her plights while trying to balance being a room mom and all the various things going on in her family. Jen seems like the kind of character I would want to hang out with.
This book could be read as a stand alone, however I recommend reading the first book, because it’s fun. I love the mix of the emails she sent and how they were dispersed throughout the story. I hope there will be more books about Jen’s exploits!

Loved Class Mom and loved You're Been Volunteered just as much. The funny and witty style of writing is fun and so quick and easy to read. Super cute book with enough of a plot to keep it interesting. Definitely recommend this hilarious and entertaining book!

You've Been Volunteered is the PERFECT followup to Class Mom! I have been anticipating this one since I read Class Mom last year and simply couldn't get enough of it. This book is hilarious, relatable, and original. I hope the author continues to write more books (pretty please) because I am a HUGE fan of her humor and writing style!

This book was amusing enough, but overall just didn’t quite do it for me. I enjoyed the first Class Mom book - not highbrow literature but fun, funny, and relatable. This one had some elements of the first - particularly, I thought the main character was relatable and funny, and I enjoyed some of the skewering of some of the parental oddities one tends to encounter at an elementary school. But overall it was kind of... boring? I just never really felt engaged in it. I had some trouble keeping track of all the characters, and the plot didn’t really move. There wasn’t really much plot, is the thing. It was more like reading someone’s diary describing what they did that week. The couple of plot elements that were there, I predicted early on, and somehow they never felt central to the story. I guess I don’t really know what actually was central to the story. Essentially it was a fluffy, sometimes funny look inside Jen’s mind, but not a memorable book for me.

Laurie Gelman’s sophomore novel, You’ve Been Volunteered, is a laugh-out-loud funny and charming story! Jen Dixon is back as Class Mom and I could not wait to read this! I devoured it in one sitting because I could not stop reading.

This second novel follows Jen Dixon and all of her antics as Class Mom of her son’s 3rd grade class. Her emails, thoughts and quick witted remarks were hilarious! I could not stop laughing while reading this.

A lot of sophomore novels don’t live up to the hype or compare to the debut novel, but this novel was JUST AS GOOD as her debut novel, Class Mom. I am so honored I got an early reader’s copy.

Laurie Gelman-please write a 3rd Class Mom book! There has to be another one! Class Mom and You’ve Been Volunteered were 2 of the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given.

I love Laurie Gelman's first book Class Mom and I loved her 2nd book even more!

I'm a class mom, grade parent, PTA Board Member and party chair galore at my kids schools. So relating to this book was easy as can be! I love LOVE LOVE the main character's sense of humor, especially because she says everything that I am secretly, thinking out and in email.

Are there any crazy life lessons in this book? No
Will it make you cry? Maybe from laughing to hard at Jen Dixon (The main characters) emails
Will it change your life? Only from the stand point that you are not alone in your crazy thoughts about the PTA and moms at the schools.

This is the perfect book to read after a heavy emotional book, full of fun and laughter! Great read as always Laurie.

I was very excited for a sequel of the hilarious "Class Mom". And while this was a quick read and I enjoyed every minute of it, it was missing something that kept it from being as good as the first. The characters were charming and funny and I loved that we got to spend more time with Jen's older kids. I think it just moved too fast through the timeline and I found it hard to truly connect to the plot. However, I highly reccommend if you need a book that will make you laugh so hard you wake up your sleeping husband :)

I thought You’ve Been Volunteered was adorable. I read Class Mom last summer on vacation and shared it with teacher friends that loved it. This should be on your summer reading list when in comes out in July 2019. It is a great summer read. I read it in two evening. It is an easy read with humor and a feel good ending. I think you will enjoy the book more if you read Class Mom first and understand the people that continue into the latest book. Enjoy! This book is a treat.
