Did I spend most of the time I was reading the book that Ben would clear things sooner? I did. Did I enjoy the little angst and misunderstanding that it created? Also yes. I craved it like a junkie. I like Cynthia Eden's writing style and most of the time I end up loving or liking at minimum her books. This book wasn't the exception to the rule and it also included one of my favorite tropes, "best friends brother", which worked so well for this book. The romantic and suspense parts were well connected and I found it a great starter for the series which goes on for lots of books.

It was a fast paced read, I enjoyed most of it!Eric and Piper have spent years secretly in love and intensely attracted to one another, but misunderstandings have kept Eric away, and Piper assuming that he just about tolerates her.I'm all about the best friend's brother trope and this was well executed, I truly enjoyed reading about them and seeing their relationship develop. Protecting Piper was an enjoyable read .

Cynthia Eden is undeniably one of the most gifted writers I have the pleasure of reading! Contemporary or paranormal or suspense, she ignites enough passion and intensity in every story she writes.

First in her new series Wilde Ways, "Protecting Piper" is a must read, as Eric Wilde goes wild for Piper. With a stalker on her back gives Eric the perfect excuse to keep Piper close to him to win her over.

Piper grew up with brothers Ben and Eric. Ben is Pipers best friend but there is no romantic feelings. Eric who runs a high end security company has always loved Piper since a kiss in junior high but he has always assumed that she was with his brother. When Ben calls his brother because someone trashed Pipers home, then her studio, then people are killed, Eric takes Piper to his home and the fireworks and chemistry start. Can wait for Ben's story!

This was pretty good! I am not a huge fan of suspenseful romance books because I usually struggle with the balance between the suspense and the romance, but I was in the mood for one. I think Cynthia Eden does a good job at that balance! She keeps me engaged with the suspense and also provides me enough steam and romance to keep me engaged in their relationship as well!

Never disappointed with a Cynthia Eden story. A well-written and solid romance with a good plot. I liked Piper and enjoyed reading her story. Can't wait for more of Ms. Eden's books.

Loved it! This is a quick read with great characters and an interesting plot. I really enjoyed watching the relationship grow between Eric and Piper. Eric is so broody that he is really lovable, especially given how much he loves Piper. While I felt the ending was a little predictable I really enjoyed how it twisted and turned.

Eric Wilde has always been in love with Piper Lane, but she is his younger brother's best friend and probably more. Eric has everything he could want a successful business, a family that loves him, but he doesn't have the one woman he loves.

Piper has always considered Eric to be the enemy because he resents her and he makes her nervous, but she has it all wrong. When she needs him most he's there, although thinking on the way to her house that she and Ben are going to announce they are getting married. A stranger has broken into Piper's house twice and she feels like someone is following her, so she needs protection. Eric is just the man for the job, although he also has an alternate plan because this case is more than just a case, its personal.

Piper quickly realizes that Eric isn't as bad as she thinks and her feelings are far more complicated than she could have imagined. Eric and Piper's relationship grows and blossoms as someone continues to target Piper, its someone that she thought she could trust and someone you don't expect.

I quickly fell for these characters, I knew that while Eric thought she was destined for his brother he was always there for her. I love how he stood beside her when her mother died, went to her graduation, and stood by her whenever she needed. Piper just picked up on everything that Eric wanted her to because he was trying to keep his distance. There are many twists and turns in this book and suspense that keeps you reading ... wanting more. I was disappointed when it ended, but I'm so glad that things turned out the way that they should have. Great read, well written, and characters you can get involved with. As usual you can't go wrong with one of Cynthia's books!!!

PROTECTING PIPER has great storytelling along with suspense and romance at its best. It also has great dynamics between the characters and I enjoyed all their interactions.

Eric and Piper are thrown together when it is discovered someone is stalking Piper. Eric owns a security company and he insists on keeping Piper safe. For years Eric has cared about Piper, but stepped aside because he thought his brother loved her. Eric has grown tired of waiting for his brother to make a move and is ready to let Piper know how he feels. Eric is the perfect alpha male; he is protective and bossy and wants Piper all to himself.

Piper is confused by Eric’s behavior. He has always been cold and unapproachable towards her and now he is completely different. Piper is cautious; she doesn’t trust Eric because he has hurt her before. Now, someone is stalking Piper and she needs Eric’s help and she can’t keep avoiding him. Piper likes everyone and has big heart. It is hard for her to understand why someone wants to hurt her.

Eric and Piper are great together. The more time they spend together, the more they realize how much care for each other. I enjoyed this fast paced romance filled with suspense and intrigue and I was never sure who was after Piper, until the very end.

I received an advanced read copy of this book to leave an honest review. I have read a ton of Cynthia Eden's works and love her writing style and plot lines. I was extremely excited when she started this new series.

This book follows Eric Wilde, the owner of his own tech/security company, and Piper Lane, a gallery owner and the best friend of Eric's little brother. Eric has always been aware and halfway in love with Piper since they were teenagers but he kept his distance because he always thought Piper and his little brother (Piper's best friend) would eventually end up together. When Piper gets targeted by a stalker, all bets are off and Eric goes completely alpha. His sole goal is to protect Piper at all costs and find her stalker, even if it means making himself a target.

The book is very well written and it is a great plot line. Definitely a short time period overall in the book which is a little bit hard to comprehend. Things progress very quickly between Eric and Piper which at least the history between them makes it believable. Overall I would definitely recommend if you are a fan of Cynthia Eden; I had it finished in a day.

A sizzling HOT, addicting, heart-thumping romantic suspense that had me loving every second of this amazing new story from Cynthia Eden!

Protecting Piper is perfection in word form! It was exciting, dangerous, and romantic with plenty of delicious, tempting heat and a perfectly thrilling plot! The cover is the first big thing that pops for me. It shows a couple who have some seriously sizzling chemistry and just BEGS the reader to dive in. The moment I started reading this I was HOOKED on Eric and Piper's romance. The danger that follows Piper kept me guessing and on edge and added a thrill to the romance that was both dangerous and sinful. I can't for the life of me, get enough of Cynthia Eden's romantic suspense stories. They are WAY TO GOOD to pass up!

A book that has little bit of everything in it, it was interesting to read this one.
I haven't read anything from this author until now and I will try to find and read her other earlier works and the new ones.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

This one was a suspenseful thriller with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing as to who the stalker is and passion and tension to keep you wanting to know whether Piper and Eric would end up having a happily ever after. Eric was a jerk to her their whole lives and all of a sudden he is no longer hiding his desire for her. When her life is jeopardized by a violent stalker Eric says enough is enough, his baby brother isn’t "popping the question" and he is tired of pushing her away. She has always been the only one for him and he is now ready to fight to win her and to prove to her his jerk-like ways were only a façade to hide his real feelings. I enjoyed their story a lot and the action and suspense was great.

This spirited romantic suspense has readers holding their breath in anticipation with thrilling excitement and an explosive romance. Eric and Piper are strong, energetic characters that readers can’t help but fall in love with and their romance is volatile with fiery sparks, scorching passion, sizzling chemistry and a magnetic attraction so strong readers can feel the draw. The relationship has lots of emotional turmoil due to some misconceptions and non-communication that had Eric and Piper fighting their attraction for some time, but now that they are forced to spend time together, their chemistry and passion is erupting into a fiery inferno.

The story takes place at a fast clip and flows smoothly through suspenseful events, dangerous thrills and adrenaline pumping excitement. The interactions between all the characters and the dialogue and actions of the individuals are realistic and believable which makes it easy for the readers to picture each and every scene which in turn makes way for the readers to gasp in surprise during the unexpected twists and turns that occur both in the danger that is stalking Piper and in the relationship between Piper and Eric. Warning – there is never a dull moment to be found during this entertaining romance and the ignoring of all outside influences may occur while reading it.

Cynthia Eden nailed it again, all the characters were interesting and she managed to keep you guessing who the stalker/killer was. Can't wait for the next one

Protecting Piper is an on the edge of your seat suspense, with a truckload of romance and emotion – the perfect combination! Cynthia Eden continues to impress me with her ability to successfully weave together both romantic and suspenseful elements, while developing characters that you truly like, which only heightens the suspense because you become invested in the outcome.

I’ve read a truckload of romantic suspense novels, but I can rarely pick the ‘bad guy,’ unless it’s made obvious, I can never tell a red herring from a legitimate lead. I’d never make a detective! In Protecting Piper, I did actually pick the stalker, but then changed my mind when given another option and leads that seemed to …. lead elsewhere. Those damn red herrings! Picking the perp was a bit trickier, because like in many stalker cases (fictional and real life) the stalker doesn't necessarily have to play a large role in the victim's life. This widens the suspect pool considerably, and in the end, everyone is a suspect, and I do mean everyone. I even had an eye on two of the main characters at one stage (I was hoping and praying that it wasn’t either of them) but when the bad guy can be anyone, everyone looks shifty at some stage!

So the suspense aspect is a big tick, it kept you guessing (well, me anyway!) and was creepy enough to make me start looking behind me when I found myself walking alone after leaving work of an evening. So I guess, that makes it a success! The other major part of this book was the romance. Now, that was intense!

Eric Wilde…. What can I say but *sigh*? Eric is intensely passionate. He's hidden it for long enough, and now he's more than willing to let Piper know the score. Eric's obvious devotion, almost obsession, could easily become a bit cloying, but the author has made it work, and it serves to ramp up both the sexual tension and the suspense. For a little while, I had a sinking feeling that this may not be one of Cynthia Eden's usual HEAs. What if Eric’s years of obsession with Piper had turned ugly? Is he just too good to be true? This is the only spoiler I would ever give, and that’s a resounding no, it’s a HEA (thank heavens!) but the fact that I even seriously suspected him lends credence to the talent of this author to be able to turn everyone into a suspect and leave you guessing!

This is my third book by this author, but my first non-paranormal. I enjoyed Protecting Piper so much it has cemented Cynthia Eden as one of my ‘go to’ authors. Cynthia Eden has shown she can weave an excellent story, with captivating storylines and characters with whom it’s too easy to fall in love, regardless of genre.

Once again this author has written another character driven, romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Piper and Eric are both strong and endearing characters. The seamless storyline keeps your attention from the beginning until the end. The only question I have is, what's next? I can't wait to read the next book that this talented author writes.
