This book sounded like it would be a good read, but I was looking for short stories that would be a mindless escape from my everyday routine and these were too high brow for me. If you are looking for a fiction read that makes you think a lot, you will probably enjoy this more than I did. The writing was excellent, it just wasn't the book for me!

Firstly I loved the cover of this book and the short description and so requested a copy through NetGalley. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a review copy of this book

The unified field of loneliness is comprised of ten very intelligent short stories set in different parts of the world and at different times. In these stories Jared Marcel Pollen considers a range of intellectual topics including Solipsism, extremism, Psychogeography, Technology and A.I.

I particularly enjoyed ‘The drift’ and ‘Map and territory’, finding the latter to be particularly relevant and important.

As a whole I found the collection to be intriguing and interesting however maybe a little too high brow for me personally. However if you’re looking for a book that will engage your brain then this could be the book for you.

I liked most of these stories. They are certainly distinct from each other, and mostly of the same high quality. I won't rate each one, but rate them overall as quite good.

I have to note that the digital advanced copy is a definite challenge because it's nearly impossible to tell where one story ends the next begins. I'm thankful for the 3 parts, so that I had an occasional clue. This certainly took away from my enjoyment. Nonetheless, I really appreciate the free advanced copy.
