I received a free copy for an honest review.

Like I said at the first book's review; it misses something to really had me going further the series, but I liked this one more. I really enjoyed to know more about Marisol's background and family. I think I'll be coming back for the third one

This volume, second in the series, revolves around Marisol and her search for the killer of her father, as well as going after Mannix and Indra for killing the council or something.
For the most part it feels a lot like the first, which is mostly a good thing, but in the end I didn’t like this one as much. The ending was the problem, as while I enjoy puzzles, it’s only those I have a chance to solve, and I wasn’t given the opportunity here. There were simply too many switches: Is the bad guy good instead? Is the bad girl just a pawn? Mood whiplash.
As always I like Marisol, but she wasn’t nearly as smart in this one; clever, but being dumb at important times to service the plot. Annoyed by the cliffhanger ending.

This follows up from the previous book, where Marisol solved a murder case. Now, her sadistic ex has left her clues leading her to finally try to solve her father's mysterious death.

These clues led Marisol to Baker Street along with Roan and Wyatt. Together they were put on a path to try and solve clues left by Mannix. Along the way, much is revealed, and Marisol also questions her feelings for Roan.

There was a twist at the end of the previous book which is quite critical here. Also at the end of this story, we were left hanging, wanting to know more of what's going to happen going forward.

Once again, I noted some errors in the book, they could be typos or genuine mistakes - I hope they will get sorted in the future!

I loved this series of a half-shifter detective, and I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Picking up from the cliffhanger of book one, a lot of responsibility is put on Marisol's shoulders and we are instantly captivated. This time it's different because she already knows the culprit, but not the motivation. This mystery is personal.

I am still engrossed by Verstraete's narrating of the protagonist's jaguar and Sherlock modes, and I think she is doing an even better job in this sequel. And let us not forget Marisol's guilt and inner turmoil. Plus the Sigil adds to that. Knowing the murderer and who is pulling the strings does not make the mystery easier or predictable. On the contrary, it's more enticing with a dangerous, unpredictable nemesis, and Mannix is just that. What is scarier is how little is really known about him.

Verstraete has managed to maintain the charm of the 1st one and evolve the mythology. Constantly surprising us with tidbits not only of the current mystery, but also an older one. I also like the walking encyclopedia aspect of the lead.

The story morphs into a revelation of an even bigger betrayal and unknown plan of enormous scale. In the excitement, the author does sort of trip over her own narrative, making it a bit confusing and the ending feels a bit rushed. But when the dust clears, we have a whopper of a cliffhanger.

Great addition to this addictive series. Cannot wait for the next one.

Marisol Holmes the great-great-great granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes likes solving cases just like her grandfather. So when an old enemy Mannix makes an appearance in her life again Marisol is determined to find him and put a stop to him and to also make him pay for what he has done.

Marisol is still grieving from a terrible loss in her past and another case to solve but when her enemy Mannix starts leaving little clues that lead her to London she teams up with a couple of old friends Wyatt and Roan. Mannix has Marisol, Wyatt and Roan running all over London looking for clues and puzzles to solve.

Marisol hopes that at the end of all these clues and puzzles is the answer to all her questions. Like was her father murdered or was it an accident? If he was murdered who did it? When she finds the answers to all of her questions and to what is going on with Conclave and the death of her father will they all lead to the same answer or man?

The Sign of the Serpent is a very intriguing read that will keep you on the edge of your seat following all the clues trying to guess what they all mean. Once you think you have it all figured out and know what is happening then guess again because you don’t.

There are clues and puzzles and mystery around every corner just leading to more and more leading you to an ending that you just know you have already figured out but let me tell you that ending was not what I was expecting at all.

This has been another exciting journey with Marisol looking for clues and solving cases I can’t wait to see what cases she has to work on in the episode of The Adventures of Marisol Holmes.

I would highly recommend The Sign of the Serpent to one and all who loves a good mystery and Sherlock Holmes of course.

Here we go again...Mannix is leading Marisol along with Roan and Wyatt on a wild goose chase to find her father's killer. But is that really what he's doing? Marisol will learn some hard truths by the end of this book...not only about that but also about her feelings for Roan. I for one can't wait for the next book.

The Sign of the Serpent is the second book in the Adventures of Marisol Holmes series. It picks up immediately after the events of the first book, so anyone who hasn't had the chance to read that one yet may want to do so before tackling this one. I would highly recommend grabbing a copy of book one ASAP. I love this series so much!

In the sequel, Marisol is dealing with the repercussions of what happened at the end of book one. Not only is her crazy ex, Mannix, still on the loose, but now she has to contend with the secrets of her past. Marisol never knew her father, but with new clues and discoveries shedding some light, she uncovers more about him than she could have ever bargained for.

There's mystery, action, and even some romance going on in The Sign of the Serpent. The characters are still just as enjoyable and likeable (or not-so-likeable) as they were in the first book, although there are a few new character additions that make things even more interesting.

I really enjoyed the intrigue and quick pacing of the story. It held my attention and had me flipping eagerly through the pages, curious to see what sort of insanity might unfold next. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

I give The Sign of the Serpent 4 stars.

I was really excited to see that the next installment of "The Adventures of Marisol Holmes" was finally out, after reading the first book and loving it, I felt like any time at all was too long to wait for the second book. That being said, I loved the first one so much that for at least a week after reading it I couldn't stop thinking about it, especially the twist at the end. I also really like that the covers go together so well, I'm sure they would look amazing on my bookshelf.

After the intense ending that the last book had, the beginning takes place about thirty seconds after Balthazar hands Marisol the sigil ring. Thirteen people have been murdered by someone she considered a friend. Though she's recently become in tune with her jaguar side, it's still very hard to harness it's power, and emotions. Because of the events in the previous book, when Balthazar handed her the ring, it effectively made her not only a sigil bearer, but the only one left. And she will hunt down the person responsible.

The person responsible, however, isn't so easy to find. After murdering those thirteen people in cold blood, they made off with two other sigil rings, the wolf, and the chameleon. Marisol knows that they usually match the shifter that they're given to, which gives her a new problem, because she's a jaguar shifter she's not supposed to hold any sigil ring, especially not a serpent, but she's going to have to deal with it.

This book, like the last one, is told in the first person viewpoint, from Marisol's point of view. The great, great, great granddaughter of the amazing Sherlock Holmes, she has mystery engraved in her very being. That being said, she's desperate to find out what's really going on, and to hunt down the people responsible for all the horrible things that have been going on lately. This book was everything I wanted it to be and more, and I devoured it in one sitting, that's how good it is.

My favourite character, of course has to be Marisol because she's just so different from any of the other characters, she makes mistakes, but she's able to work with it and really just do her best. I also have to add that Roan is my other favourite character. Although I wouldn't say I know a lot about him, there's just something about him that's so calming, it's nice to have him around.

This book was exciting, mysterious, and I never expected the ending. I didn't expect this book to surround so much of her father, either, but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved getting to know more about her background, family, and really just the world in general. There are plenty of twists in the plot that kept my attention fully, and I couldn't ask for a better second book in the series. I can't wait to see what happens next.

If you're someone who loves the supernatural, and just a really good first person mystery, than this is the book for you, no matter your age or preference to books. You need to read this series, and you need to read it in order. I want to recommend this series to everyone I know, even if they're not into shifters. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, I fee l like it's going to eat me alive waiting for it. So yeah, definitely check this book out if you get the chance.

Thanks for reading!
