Thank you NetGalley for a copy of Mine!

It took me not even 24 hours to start and finish this book, I was that hooked. Surprisingly this wasn’t as suspenseful as the books I usually enjoy (and give 5 stars too) but I just felt like it was such a good quick read! “Mine” is about a wife, Tessa, who finds out her husband of 20 + years has been cheating on her with a younger woman, Lindsey. Tessa pretends to be Ethan, her husband, and invites Lindsey over and what happens after is just crazy! Both women find out things about Ethan and their relationships that they didn’t think could be true but ultimately they both grow from this horrible experience and realize they are strong, with or without a man. In today’s world, I feel like that is something us women have to remember a lot. While I’ve never gone through what either of these women have gone through, I feel like this book taught me to not hate “the other woman” (easier said than done right?) and remember who made that vow to you... we are (usually) so quick to hate the mistress or the new girlfriend or wife, but not the husband or boyfriend.

Regardless if you agree with me or not, I highly recommend “Mine” and understand why it was one of the most requested books on NetGalley!

This was a fast easy read. I was really into it and wanting to see where it was going. I wished there was more perspective from the husband and more closure with the ending, but overall a good read.

What would you do if you found out your husband was cheating on you?
Twenty plus years with the same person... all gone up in smoke in one short minute.
Tessa was a woman on a mission to find out answers!

This book was a trip! Right from the very first page this book just sucks you in. Tessa thought she had this perfect normal life. With all the ups and downs of life. She never thought her husband was capable of doing what he did to her.

“I’ve loved him since the moment I laid eyes on him our freshman year in college.”

I felt her surprise and shock the moment she found out about the affair. Her disbelief and then the rage. And I also felt the weight on her shoulder of the situation she was in.

“Her name is Lindsey, she’s twenty-six, she’s got caramel-colored hair and a fit, young body, and Ethan is sleeping with her.”

Lindsey... she was trying so hard to be someone she wasn’t. Money and status was what moved her. Trying to find the right kind of guy. She latched on to Ethan right away. She was obsessed with Ethan’s family. To the point of stalking. She crossed so man lines.

Ethan was a man child. I was trying to understand his reasoning in the beginning of why he took the steps to cheat on Tessa. But the more I read... he was just a man that thought he could get away with it. No reason at all.
Everything he did to prepare for his affair was shocking! I felt the kick every time Tessa found something new out about him. Connecting all the dots timeline wise. She saw a whole other side of Ethan. I was sad for her.

What I didn’t agree on was how Tessa got all her information! I thought that was crazy!!! I kept thinking. How will she get out of the mess she just put herself in. Both women going at it.

The ending of this book wasn’t my favorite. It’s open for your interpretation. I wanted and felt we needed to hear from Ethan. This whole book was finding out everything he lied about. I wanted to read how Tessa responded to everything he said. I wanted to read the drama of it all. Hammer the final nail in their relationship. We don’t get that.

Overall this book was a pretty good! I read it all in one sitting. I couldn’t read it fast enough. This is my first Courtney Cole book!!! I’ve followed her on FB for a while. But never read anything by her! I can’t believe I waited so long! I’m definitely going to check out her other books!!! I really enjoy this one!

Mine is a love triangle and all the drama that you can imagine. The story unfolds during a hurricane in Florida. This is my first book to read by Courtney Cole and I will definitely be reading her next book.

This psychological suspense story sucks the reader in from the start. The crazy is revealed very early on and I found it hard to digest the way the main character's mind diverged from reality and normalcy. It was intriguing and kept me wanting to find out what was going to happen, but it was also a bit disturbing, which is probably intentional.

What a fun (is that an ok work to use here?) ride this book was! I love thrillers so much, and this one took a turn I wasn't quite expecting. Tessa is a mother and wife. She just dropped her children off with their grandparents so she and her husband can have a weekend to themselves. However, a hurricane is on it's way and her husband can't make it back home. Instead Tessa finds out her husband has been messaging (and more) with another woman. So what else is there to do, but invite the mistress, Lindsey, over using her husbands account. Once Lindsey is in their home, things escalate quickly and Tessa has to grapple with the truth about her marriage. This one kept me turning the pages until the very end. Also, make sure and read the author's note at the end of this book!

A love triangle, a hurricane that isn't the only storm brewing and a need for revenge that can't be tamed.

Wow! This book was mind-blowing in the best way possible. I really, really enjoyed it! I’m not usually a fan of books with cheaters, but I could not put this one down.
It’s about a married couple named Ethan & Tessa who seem to live this perfect life. Ethan goes out of town for business and Tessa comes across his iPad and finds some nude photos of a mystery woman. After reading the texts- she discovers her husband is having an affair.
Meet Lindsey—Ethan’s hot, young mistress that is apparently obsessed with him and his family.
Tessa (the wife) lures the mistress (Lindsey) to their house during a category 4 hurricane and all hell breaks loose! A few things were a little unrealistic to me- Everyone on their street leaves due to the storm, yet Tessa stays and boards their entire house by herself? Also Lindsey driving to their house during the hurricane. It seemed a little far-fetched to me. I also wished we got an epilogue from both Tessa and Lindsey. (Maybe Ethan too??) I so want to know how their lives turned out after the storm.

Overall I liked the story—Like a lot! I think this would make a great lifetime movie!!

You ever have the experience when you run into an acquaintance at the grocery store or in an elevator or a parking lot or some other random public place and ask what you feel is a pretty benign question like “how’s it going?” only to have that person fucking UNLEASH their life on you and tell you all about their cheating husband and demise of their marriage and your face is all like *oh this is awkward* or you respond with something like “we got a new cat” because you don’t know how to communicate like a normal human to begin with and especially when you get word vomit all over you? Yeah, that’s what reading this book was like.

So, here are the things I knew about this one before I started:

1. It was all over Instagram;

2. It was a revenge story; and

3. It took place in the penis of America (Florida) during an oncoming hurricane.

What I didn’t know was that this author had a cheating spouse and decided to put pen to paper in order to work out her feelings. Ummmmm, maybe she should have chosen therapy instead or burn all of his stuff like Angela Bassett did in Waiting to Exhale or at least pour yourself a big ol' mixing bowl full of wine because this was just turrrrrrrrible.

The plot itself was one that had me channeling my inner Ron 2.0, because it was “RIDICULOUS™.” But I love some trashy Lifetime shit every once in a while so I was totally game to give this one a shot. Unfortunately, it lost me by the 13% mark when our betrayed leading lady uttered the phrase:

"I AM THE STORM"

Oh dear God.

The farfetched plot I could maybe overlook. The godawful dialogue and story progression I could not. I can’t believe this wasn’t self-pubbed.

Do you want to know what my expression looked like while reading this story?

That was definitely my reaction the entire time. Just a whole bunch of gasping. And shock.

This entire story takes place throughout one night. And I, of course, read all of it in just a few hours.

I was on a Caribbean cruise recently, so I had much more time to read than usual. My days could be summed up as following:

Sunshine
Beaches
Sailing
Snorkeling
Sunscreen
Pools
Piña coladas
But this story was nothing like that. Instead, it was dark, twisted and terrifying.

I love that it took place from two different women’s points of view, flashing between Tessa’s and Lindsey’s. It also flashed between the past and the present. I love that there was a literal storm outside and another one inside Tessa’s house. The writing kept me intrigued and was very fast-paced. I wouldn’t say it was too unpredictable, and it didn’t have a lot of twists. But it was still intense and quick. It was cringey.

One note I’d like to add is that a few years ago, my husband and I were on an anniversary trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Luxurious, all you can eat/drink resort filled with sunny skies and relaxation. Then, a few days in, Hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean, and we were stuck on the island with all flights cancelled and far from home. The hurricane was terrifying and one of the scariest moments of my life. Of course I am from Texas, far from the ocean and not at all used to hurricanes. So Tessa did handle the weather much better than I would have, but it still brought back some scary memories, and made the settings for this novel even more intriguing.

After I finished reading I hopped on Goodreads and was fascinated by what the author had to say:

“Ethan is Tessa’s, so from her point of view, MINE is self-explanatory.
But also… this story… is mine.
At least, parts of it.
My husband was unfaithful. It was a crazy circumstance, a perfect storm of irony and tragedy. It gutted me and brought my world down around me in bits and pieces.”

So the author herself had to deal with her husband’s affair, which explains why it was SO well-written and raw. I could feel Tessa’s pain and fury. I could understand why this logical, level-headed woman just snapped.

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot. It kept me captivated and was very well-written.

A little disappointing for me. It started out strong- in the midst of an impending storm, Tessa finds messages from a young woman, Lindsay, to her husband. Tessa messages Lindsay, pretending to be her husband, and tells her to come over. It was at this point that the novel started crumbling for me. What started as a wild ride slowed to a dragging halt as the two women confront each other and the truth. The ending was unsatisfying and brought down the overall rating even more.

Mine by Courtney Cole
Wow wow wow! This is my 1st book by this author and I could not put this down! Adultery in a marriage what a topic and what a fantastic read! Tessa thinks her marriage is strong and that Ethan is faithful and loyal but Lindsey will tell you he is not and Lindsey wants what Tessa has. It all comes to a head during one hell of a storm both inside the house and outside...thank you Netgalley and Gallery Books for letting me read this book and give my opinion.

This story was enjoyable and a fairly quick read. It jumped right into the plot, which is a huge plus for me. Questions were raised and answered. The timeline was split which kept it interesting. Overall, there just wasn't a huge amount of depth, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. There were so many parts that were relatable even though I haven't been in the same situation.

Mine is a fast-paced domestic thriller that had me hooked from the very first pages. It is told in alternating narratives from the perspectives of the scorned wife Tessa and the "other woman" Lindsey. As a hurricane approaches this love triangle turns into a storm of its own. Cole does an amazing job of building the suspense both with the dueling perspectives and the drama of the approaching weather.

I had high hopes for a dramatic ending but I found that it felt a little flat which made me only rate this book 3 stars. I did think it was engrossing and although it wasn't super believable it was a quick and entertaining read. A more fleshed out ending would have improved the ending for me but I did enjoy the reading experience and this would make a great vacation or beach read. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an advanced copy.

Mine is about two women involved with the same man: Tessa has been married to Ethan for over twenty years and has three children with him; Lindsay is his 26-year-old mistress. When Tessa discovers Lindsay’s existence via an old iPad of Ethan’s, she lures her rival to her Florida beach mansion in the middle of a hurricane and tricks her to handcuffing herself to the bed.

What follows is a fast-paced page turner between both points of view, as the women fight over who has the stronger claim to Ethan. As the hurricane rages and the power goes out, Lindsay’s story also includes flashbacks to the beginning and progression of her relationship with Ethan. As Lindsay taunts Tessa with Ethan’s claims that Tessa cared only about her career and her children, Tessa wonders who the bigger liar is: Ethan or Lindsay? And does she bear responsibility for Ethan seeking attention elsewhere?

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author to allow me to get a free copy of this book for review. Tessa lives a happy and busy life with her husband Ethan and their kids. A hurricane is coming and she is driving back from leaving her kids with the grandparents. She is excited and looking forward to spending alone time with her husband. Unfortunately Ethan is stuck away on business and will not be able to make it back home on time before the hurricane arrives. Tessa is left to make sure the hurricane does not do much damage to their property. Trying to do some work before the hurricane hits land, Tessa cant find her Ipad, her daughter took it. She then goes and find her husband's. When Tessa starts to see messages and pictures of another woman romancing her husband and proof that her husband is cheating on her, Tessa loses it. Then, Tessa messages the woman pretending she was Ethan and lures the other woman to the couple's home. What happens after is a series of shocking and surprising events and revelations. Nice, different story!

“I smile and straighten my ring like a crown. I am Queen.”

And like a Queen, Tessa rules the roost and hands down the punishments. Mine, is a tale of love and love lost. As I read, I kept asking myself, “how is that the ones you love the most, are the ones who hurt you the most?”

I’ve been married for 13 years and I can tell you for a fact - every marriage gets “boring.” It’s inevitable. As the years go by you just get too comfortable. Throughout the book, the author reminds readers that marriage is a commitment. A commitment to love one another, communicate with one another until death does you apart. Loved, loved this read! 5stars!!!❤️❤️

MINE has all of the ingredients for the perfect storm. A teenage son and daughter away at the maternal grandparents house for three weeks, another son away at college, a husband delayed in New York another day on business, the 40-year-old wife and mother prepping their 45-window home at the news of an incoming category three hurricane, the shocking discovery that the husband is having an affair, and the opportunity to exact revenge on the husband’s lover.

The reader will not want to put this one down as the author takes the main character through self-discovery as she works through the heartbreak of her life that was defiled by her husband. Thanks to NetGalley and the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this fascinating, well-written read.

It’s been five minutes since I’ve read the last sentence in this book and I can’t for the life of me comprehend wtf I just read!! I knew exactly what I was going into when I started this story and I was more than okay with that because deep down, I felt that this was going to be a journey of self discovery and empowerment. Did I get those things? In a way, yes I did but I ended up getting so much more.

Tessa Taylor has been with the love of her life for over twenty years. She’s a devoted wife, mother, and a successful business woman that has created a multi million dollar company. Being busy is nothing new for this working mom but she tries her best to be there for her family and in return, they love her for it. With a fast approaching hurricane and being home alone, Tessa stumbles upon something that will ultimately change her life. What would you do if you found out your husband was having an affair?

Deciding to take matters into her own hands, Tessa devises a plan and is now face to face with her husband’s mistress. What do you say to someone who knowingly took part in something that would destroy the life that you’ve worked so hard to build? As Tessa will find out, not everything is in black and white and there are far more secrets to be discovered.

I have to say that this story kept me on my toes consistently!! There were time when I truly felt like I couldn’t take another revelation and my heart broke for some of these characters. I wanted to comfort them because I felt their pain bleeding through pages and you couldn’t help but feel for them. Then I started to feel something else. Pure anger and disbelief. Some of these characters made me so angry, I was wondering why I wasn’t in fictional jail yet!! Their actions affected so many people and to see them plot and execute something they knew was going to be detrimental and not give a crap, was like being slapped in the face without warning. I didn’t agree with certain things but in a way, I understood why it was done.

I’m just going to put it out there and say that I was not happy with that ending!! I wanted so much more and I was really disappointed that I didn’t get it. Call me bitter and yes I'm currently pouting at the moment but with good reason! Aside from that, I really did like most of the story and if you can suspend some of your beliefs and reign in your anger, this might be the book for you.
