Wow this was pretty brutal in parts - which is definitely not for the faint hearted!
Having not read the previous novels - I may have missed out on getting to know the characters a little more.
It was very fast paced, and I enjoyed that - I do feel it seemed a bit rushed at the end - but very enjoyable.

Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Not having read the prior books in this series, I found it very difficult to get into this story. The murder plot and the police procedural are well-written and suspenseful, but I found the relationship between Grey and Miles took up way too much space, and assumed too much knowledge of their backstory. Although it was not "action-packed", the story did build up to the culmination - which was however rather abrupt and more than a bit unbelievable.

Thanks to Avon UK and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.

It pains me to say this but this book is not as good as the others in the series. It was wonderful to return to Adrian and Imogen's lives again but I feel that this book dragged a little bit in some parts. It was not as action packed or as exciting and fresh as the others.

I still do highly recommend this series and eagerly await the next book from this author. I would advise the readers to rather read the previous books before this one as it will give greater insight into the characters and how they have developed over time.

Katerina Diamond brings something different I think to the thriller/police procedural. She never weighs the story down in technicalities but the reader always feels part of the investigation. Diamond is on top form again with Truth or Die. A professor is brutally murdered in his rooms and before they have a chance to fully investigate DS Miles is accused of assault. Are the cases connected? Is Miles in real trouble this time and is his past coming back to haunt him? I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Thank you Netgalley for my advance copy.

At Exeter University a Professor is murdered, DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles are called to investigate. When more murders are linked the pressure to solve it increases. What is the link and how is it linked to students from the university?
.I did guess one part of the story but this did not diminish the enjoyment of the book. I liked how the story developed and the pace in which it did so.
This is the fifth book with DS Imogen Grey as the main protagonist but you do not need to have read the previous ones. I look forward to book six.

Well written, dark, gripping and fast-paced! Katerina Diamond never disappoints!

I love Imogen and Adrian, their chemistry and their ups and downs. I love the gruesomeness of the plot and its twists and turns. I love the fact I wasn’t able to guess the identity of the culprit till the end.

A university professor is brutally murdered in his own office. A student he had been sponsoring has committed suicide months before. Is there a connection between the two deaths? Why was the professor killed and why in such a hideous manner?
The police begin their diggings and questionings and when another professor is murdered at the same university, they realize the murders could have been committed by a serial killer and if they could find a connection between the victims, they would be able to unearth the motive and eventually identify the culprit.

Thanks to the author, Avon Books UK and the NetGalley for providing me with a copy.

This is really solid, crime thriller. I highly recommend it if you are into fast paced police procedural books.

On the cover, it says "on the faint hearted" they aren't joking. This is a very gross, violent and graphic read, which definitely isn't going to for everyone but if you can handle violence etc. I would really recommend you give it a read.

What I loved about this book was how fast paced it was. There was always something happening, which made it so gripping, such a page Turner, I really didn't want to put it down, I finished it in just over a day.

It is the 5th book in a DI series, however, I haven't read the first 4 books in the series and I would definitely say you don't have to read the other books before reading this. It definitely works as a stand alone too. Although I think it would make more sense in places if I had read the other books first. I think there were mentions to events that happen in the first book that I missed out on.

My only complaint with this book was that it was a tad too confusing in places and the ending was wrapped up a bit too quick

I think this is really pacey, twisted police procedural. I am definitely going to go back and read the first four books in the series.

Trigger warnings: violent murder, graphic descriptions of death, graphic suicide, graphic discussions around rape and sexual assault

The butchered body of a professor is found in a private office of Exeter University. It is the first in a spate of horrific murders that shakes the city to its core. Who would target a seemingly innocent man, and why? DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles turn to his students for answers, but their investigation turns up no leads. Someone must know more than they’re letting on. As the body count rises, the police have to look into the past to uncover the person responsible before it’s too late.

The description for this says it all really, gripping and gory. Diamond once again has produced a high-intensity, exhilarating read that will have you completely gripped by it. Secondly, there is of course enough gore to last all year, as I always write reviewing this series of books, be warned of the graphic, gory scenes, this is once again not for the faint-hearted, Diamond made my stomach turn once or twice which is unusual, but as always, it is there for the plot and not just for shock factor.

Once again, I found myself loving this book but I loved it for the plot that focused on Imogen and Adrian more than the investigation side. The investigation actually lost its way part way through and became a bit stale and dull. However, Diamond writes some very big developments for Imogen and Adrian, developments that are great both for them and the reader. Some have been a long time coming and it was fantastic to see Diamond include them and I loved following them on this new adventure.

As I have mentioned the plot loses it way after the half-way mark. I lost interest a bit, got confused as to what was going on and found it a bit jumble to be honest. However, I say battle through this because you will come out the other side where once again, Diamond ramps everything right back up to finish on a high.

'Truth or Die' is another deliciously gory, dark and twisted tale that has some fantastic character developments to accompany a plot that sadly, does lose its way at times. If you are a fan of Imogen and Adrian then read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an advance copy.

I feel as if I've missed something.

I've never read any of Katerina Diamond's books before, but I have heard of her. I've seen her books being advertised, and hitting the top of the Amazon ebook charts. So I was quite excited to read Truth or Die.

And, to be fair, the story is an interesting one. The idea of what's going on behind these student deaths is really intriguing. It was certainly quick and easy to read. And yet …

The writing is incredibly pedestrian. I didn't connect with any of the characters on an emotional level, because it's all tell and no show. I wondered whether it was not having read the previous books in the series that did it, but I don't think so. I could follow the action fine. It just didn't engage me in anything more than the most superficial way. And the plot itself concentrated far too much on its characters' love lives and the return of a character from the past rather than on what could have been a really interesting setup.

Maybe this is my fault for coming in partway through a series. But I've done it with other books, no problem. It left me with no desire to read any of the previous instalments and I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone but existing fans.

Firstly I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book, and what a book it was. I loved it from start to finish, I have read the other books by this author and this one was one of the best yet. I would note though that it is best to read all of the books in order as the story continues throughout the books. I definitely recommend.

Katerina Diamond is one of my favourite authors so when I saw this available for request on Netgalley I could not contain my excitement. This is the fifth book in the Detective Grey and Miles series. It could be read as a standalone book but it makes a lot of references to previous storylines so I would recommend reading the previous books first.

Diamond has gone back to the original roots of this series and there are a series of gruesome and shocking events taking place as the story unfolds. This time it is set in a few universities and Miles and Grey must get to the bottom of who is the perpetrator of a series of deaths involving university tutors and students. As they delve deeper into the cases they realise there is a familiarity to the deaths that they are investigating. Can they rectify their past mistakes and get to the bottom of this investigation before it really is too late and their lives change forever?

Added to all this mystery and terror Miles and Grey find themselves in a personal crisis. Their once professional relationship is now blurred and they are now facing the reality of what crossing their own boundaries will mean for them and working relationship.

Overall this was a fantastic read. I really hope there is more to come because I cannot get enough of these books whenever they are released.

First time I've read her books and I really enjoyed it. I'm defiantly looking to read more by this author. The book was a page Turner and really liked the characters in it.

Could this possibly be my favourite DS Grey and DS Miles book in this series (5th)? If you've been keeping up to date with the series then you'll know that something has been building and it comes together in this book. This book has made me realise that different detective series have different background storylines for the main characters. This has one I very much like. Others have a comedic thread between characters (Stuart Macbride's Logan Macrae series) and some are more serious (Peter James' DI Roy Grace series) of course all with murder and serial killers to the fore.

I'm really wanting to say something about one of the killers but I know that would give away a surprise so I won't. That in itself should hopefully give you the need to want to read this one.

This story has university life to the fore where people are murdered but why? All becomes clear as the story moves on. Can DS Miles and DS Grey catch the killer before he strikes again?

Definitely some surprises in this book which holds your attention but the fact that its written by the brilliant Katerina Diamond should do that already. Can't wait for book 6

This is one of my favourite authors.
This book had me hooked from the first page. Another brilliant book by this author. Can’t wait for the next one

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book. I really enjoyed it but wished I had read all previous books in the series first. The book just about works as a standalone story because the action and murder storyline is clever and fast paced. I particularly liked the setting of Exeter university. I do feel I missed something in the relationship between characters side of the story having not had all the backstory.

I would recommend this book but would suggest anyone coming across this series for the first time reads the first books before this one to ensure you can fully appreciate this novel. I fully intend to go back and read the earlier books now.

A massive thank you to netgalley and Avon Books UK for the chance to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

Katerina Diamond has got to be my #1 author, I have adored every book she has written and was super excited to be able to read an early preview.

In my opinion this isn't a book you can just pick up without reading the rest of the series, too many references are made from previous storylines, but as a fan of Katerina's work I found that all the more appealing.

You literally get sucked in from the first line, you remember the characters, their backstories and how they've made you feel, past characters make appearances and have been so well described and the story so well conceived that everything just slots into place.

A real dark and disturbing story at times and sometimes quite graphic but the book is so fast paced, even if you haven't got the stomach for it, you cant help but turning the page over and over.

It was truly refreshing to see the relationship between DS Grey & DS Miles developing throughout, especially after following their stories in previous instalments.

Hugely recommend to anyone wanting a fast paced, action packed, dark and twisted psychological thriller!

Fast paced, heart thumping, edge of your seat reading.

I really enjoyed this title. The plot was well written and well thought out, The description of the crimes, were a little graphic and disturbing, although not harped on too much. All in all an enjoyable and recommended thriller.
Am desperately waiting for the next catch up with Imogen Gray and Adrian Miles.
