Decent story and addition to this series. I wish there was more to this series but this was a good one to end on.

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title. While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Ajax has a plan and kidnapping Imogen was only the beginning. Her father was an adversary he was all too willing to take down. Imogen is not the simpering waif he thought she would be. She’s a total breath of fresh air and challenges him at every single turn. Great ending to the series!

Jackie does it again. Such an amazing writing style. I love that the ladies of her books are tough smart women

I had read another book in this series, “King’s Rule”, and hadn’t been impressed. So I didn’t exactly have high hopes for this book, and thank goodness or I would have been mightily disappointed. This book is so bad that it verges on laughable. The main characters are Ajax, a man who supposedly took down his father’s criminal empire and then turned around and became a billionaire somehow, and Imogen, a young, sheltered woman who seems to be nothing more than a pawn for the men in her life. Ajax (I’m sorry, but that name is just so terrible to me. I keep thinking of a kitchen cleanser!) decides to kidnap Imogen and use her as a means of making her criminal father leave “his town.” Imogen, far from being alarmed at being taken by a stranger, thinks it’s a wonderful idea. She has been living under her abusive father’s thumb and sees this as her way out. Ajax tells her that he is going to “ruin” her if her father doesn’t comply with his demands. Imogen thinks this is an awesome idea, too. She’s supposed to be an innocent, sheltered virgin, who hasn’t had much contact with the outside world, but she’s fine with being used as a pawn by yet another man. Ajax holds off on “de-flowering” Imogen for all of about 2 seconds before he decides he can’t resist her any longer. He wants to keep her (she’s a possession, apparently) but is willing to let her go to save the city from her father’s nefarious ways. The book is so filled with cliches and ridiculous plots that I couldn’t take it seriously. Ajax believes he has to sacrifice everything to keep “his city” safe. Are you kidding me? Just bad, bad, bad. And I have to say I’m really disappointed that this is the quality of work Harlequin is releasing through its new Dare line.
Note: I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This novel will make you see the depth of every emotion human beings feel. Be it love, be it revenge, be it lust. This book is not a simple romance but a book which brings the darkest of desires on the brim. Imogene so protected so naive is kidnapped on her wedding day by another man. A man who wants to use her body to gain revenge. But ultimately its not only her body he wants to conquer but her whole being. What happens when both of them realize that what they feel is forbidden among them. How they live with it, what difficulties comes with the parting and how they reunite. Its a story worth reading. I will recommend this book to romance readers. I received an ARC of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

King’s Ransom
Ajax King took over his father’s empire, but at what cost? He wanted to make the family business legitimate, not the crime empire it was. Imogen White is Ajax’s rival’s daughter. In order to take back his city, he kidnaps Imogen to force her father to leave Sydney. Little did Ajax know, Imogen was grateful to leave her father’s tight control. Her father constantly used her mother’s death during her birth to control her. She had no freedom, she was her father’s pawn. Ajax never thought he deserved love because of what he had to do to take over the business. Imogen also felt she didn’t deserve happiness because she caused her mother’s death. Soon Imogen opens up a new world to him. Both realize that they can have happiness and love.
I enjoyed this story. Ajax planned on using Imogen to get her father to leave Sydney thinking she was as bad as her father. He soon finds out that she is nothing like him. As much as he tries, his heart soon opens up to Imogen. I liked both of these characters. Each were trying to change and find happiness. I look forward to reading about Ajax’s other two brothers.

I really didn't think I'd enjoy this one. I figured it would be eye-rolling due to the kidnapping victim getting Stockholm Syndrome or something, but this book was so much better than that. I really liked both Ajax and Imogen's characters and the backstories to their "issues." And I especially loved that Imogen wasn't some weak, submissive character at all and refused to back down from what she wanted.

The Kings are still working on the quest to legitimize their work and world when the eldest Ajax King kidnaps Imogen. Sparks fly in this 3rd book with keeping the pages turning .

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

At the beginning of the book I really didn't like the leading lady, I thought she was just too naive for her own good. But the more I read the more I came to understand about her and where her heart was.

On the opposite side Ajax King is a complex character that I enjoyed reading about.

All in all the book was a really quick and fast paced read that I should definitely read again as well as recommend it to add fine else that is looking for their next read.

Ajax King is a protector. He may seem like a predator and his family has a dark history, yet his goals have been to come out of the dark. While cleaning up some final loose ends the plan is to kidnap the daughter of his enemy. But can we really call it a kidnapping if the victim is a willing participant?
Imogen has been sheltered, well really more like caged and she's been looking for a chance to break free. She's eager to assist in her own kidnapping and spread her wings as she glimpses her first chance at freedom. She gets more than she expects from Ajax and he is certainly surpassed when she's not frightened of him. The clash and the sparks fly.

I enjoy the Harlequin Dare line with its edgier reads. This one was no different, but probably not one of my favorites.

Ajax "kidnaps" Imogen to get her evil father to leave the city, but she enjoys being kidnapped and taken away from her cold father. This was a case of instalove and it was hard to buy into it. Imogen was so innocent and yet jumped headfirst into an intense relationship. Even more odd for me was that there was really no drama between Ajax and Imogen's father - that whole storyline took a backseat and seemed to only serve the purpose of getting the romance going.

Last in the King series, it did standalone. Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

Ajax King is bound and determined to reinstate the honor of his family. Now that his father is in jail, he must protect his city of Sydney from gangsters. Only one is left - William White, his father's bitter rival. Ajax must force him out of his city. This would be the only way to give the city a chance to survive the horrors of such a man conducting White's crime business. The only weakness White has is his daughter. Not because he loves her, but because she is one powerful tool he can use to ensnare more power. She is a virgin and married to the right person, she can bring more power and influence into White's control. Kidnapping Imogen could prove to be the best idea he has ever had!

Little did Ajax imagine Imogen was not the quiet, submissive girl her father made her appear to be in public. Ajax will soon his hands full, and his ears exploding, once Imogen is set free and under Ajax's control.

This is an imaginative story of two opposites - the King who knows all the ins and out of evil and the naive but brilliant Imogen, with all her life force and blazingly bright outlook on life.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy with me.

Out to destroy Sydney’s criminal underworld, Ajax King will do anything including his enemy’s daughter. Imogene White has been for just that kind of sexy invite and she’s determined to earn a deliciously carnal education from the sexy bad boy.

Readers couldn’t help but be curious about the sexy billionaire Ajax King as his brothers found their happily ever afters and now their curiosity can finally be satisfied but they are in no way prepared for just how sinfully delicious and scorching hot his story is. This hero and heroine is strong, bold and easily captivate readers from the very beginning and the whole tainted bad boy and virginal woman ensures that readers get to inexperience a sweet and powerful romance that is full of sizzling chemistry that shatters Ajax’s plan to smithereens. Warning – the intimate scenes in this story is hot, intense and downright delicious when the heroine of this story sets her mind up to get what she wants.

The plot is steady to fast paced and full of thrilling suspense as Ajax’s plan falls apart and he begins to fall for his sexy captive with some surprising twists and monumental decisions to be made this story keeps the pages turning as readers hold their breath with anticipation of just how this King will proceed to destroy his enemy and keep his growing relationship with Imogene intact. While the conclusion is a bit anti-climactic it is also an interesting twists and quite inspiring of the heroine so readers can’t help but be pleased as well as pleasured by this entertaining romance.

King's Ransom by Jackie Ashenden is the final story in the author's sexy Kings of Sydney series, with oldest brother Ajax King solidifying his place in the business world, and the woman who is the key to his efforts.

Ajax and his brothers Leon (King's Price) and Xander (King's Rule) have been putting their criminal father's business empire back on a legitimate track one deal at a time. It's been five years since their father went to prison, and Ajax is determined to keep their fast growing property development company from being pulled under again, especially by their father's enemy William White. Ajax has come up with a way to get White out of Sydney for good – by kidnapping his virginal daughter Imogen and using her as a means to his ends. He just doesn't expect Imogen to be so ....cooperative.

Imogen is thrilled to be out from under her domineering father's thumb. Maybe she wouldn't have chosen kidnapping as the avenue of freedom but under Ajax's hands she feels safer than she's felt in ages. If he wants to 'ruin' her, she'll be a willing participant. Under house arrest at his beautiful ocean side home, she discovers a man more complicated than he appears. Can she convince him that she's better off in his arms than as a pawn in a game of revenge?

This is a fitting finale to this sexy series! Ajax has been the brooding, mysterious older brother who had to play the long game to get his father in jail, often having to go along with his father's plans in order to maintain the level of trust needed for the ultimate betrayal. His only regret is that he couldn't tell his brothers about his plans until they were in place. This book delves into the pain it caused him to act the part of his father's henchman and the reparations that are being made between him and his brothers now that his plan has succeeded. The last task is to rid Sydney of the other crime family head, Imogen's father. Knowing how closely Imogen is guarded, he plans a sneak attack but Imogen surprises him by going along willingly.

Imogen is quite happy to have Ajax as her first lover and they share several steamy scenes. Ajax discovers that his plans to release Imogen back to her father in order to get her father to move out of Sydney are not so easily followed through as he starts to care for her. There's some insta-lust here, but Ajax also makes some surprising moves that will give Imogen a real chance at freedom, including whether or not she wants to be with him in the long run. The happy ending they get is very satisfactory and believable.I really enjoyed Imogen and Ajax's interactions and banter and there were several scenes that made me laugh. It's been a pleasure to see the three King brothers find worthy partners in this series. I look forward to the next sexy romance by this author!
