The third book in the Line of Duty series, the story of Chief Tess O'Rourke continues. Stationed in the small town of Rogue's Hollow, her work is supposed to be relatively easy, but it's been anything but. After a forest fire threatens residents and destroys a few houses, an even bigger threat comes to town, human trafficking.

Asked to shelter a key witness in a big case, Tess does so reluctantly, questioning whether it's a good idea or not. This book is that story and it's a good one. I flew through the book in a couple of days and wonder why it took me so long to pick it up.

Along with the mystery part of the story, you have the side story of Tess trying to grow in her faith in God and in her relationship with Oliver, the pastor. Do a cop and a pastor really mix? Can it work? And can she really believe God is in control?

I have enjoyed all of Janice Cantore's books that I have read, but I often struggle to pick them up because I know they are going to have high drama and pull me in and leave me hanging if I have to stop reading them.

I received this book from Tyndale via NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Janice Cantore takes readers back to Rogue's Hollow where Police Chief Tess O'Rourke is still settling into her job, and proving to the town she's up to the task of keeping them safe.. After a fire devastates the area, they're still putting out hot spots when the FBI asks for Tess' help in sheltering a witness. The witness, an 18-year-old victim of human trafficking, has information that could put her abuser away for life but she still believes he "loves" her. Can they keep her safe from the assassin they know is on her trail?

To complicate matters further, Tess and Pastor Oliver MacPherson are growing closer in spite of the opinions of his church members. When Oliver learns something from a suspect that could turn the tide on the investigation Tess is running, will his secrecy turn Tess against him? When help arrives from an unlikely source, what happens when Tess discovers her town has unknowingly been harboring a suspect from a 25-year-old murder case?

In true Cantore style, this book starts with a murder and doesn't stop with just one! As the body count mounts, so does the suspense. Cantore shows her culprit early on, but the suspense comes with keeping the witness away from the one who wants her dead. Suspense readers will love Cold Aim, book 3 of the Line of Duty trilogy. Cantore is a former cop and it shows in the details. Don't miss this!

Cold Aim by Janice Cantore is the latest book in The Line of Duty series. There is so much to love about this series. I've loved it from the very first book where Tess is the new police chief in a small town after her experience in Long Beach. This book explores her personal life a bit more than the other two novels did. Can she have a personal life and still pursue criminals as she loves? I liked this book, but it is not my favorite in the series. I think it moved a bit slower than the previous two books. Still, it is a good read and I would recommend it in conjunction with the other two books. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Well, I don't know what I'm more excited about - this book or the new author I just found. This is my first book by Janice Cantore and I'll immediately be checking out her other novels. I am one that loves suspense/mystery novels and loves Christian novels. She has combined two of my favorite genres into one!!!! I just love it!! And I really enjoyed this book!

In real life there is the struggle between good and evil. Between justice a criminal receives in court and whether we feel criminals deserve justice in the eyes of God. Cantore tackles all of that in a very realistic way but also in a format that has an interesting story with undertones of an uplifting, spiritual message. It's a ripped from the headlines, Law and Order storyline that also has romance, faith and redemption included. And while there are Christian elements in this book, this is a very gripping suspense novel with interesting twist and turns that will keep you guessing.

It's a strong storyline with even stronger character development. I think Oliver was my favorite character. I loved how he showed the strengths of grace, mercy and hope you expect to see in a Pastor, but also showed his vulnerable side of doubts and questions the rest of us have about life and love. This is a heart warming story while also being an action packed story at the same time.

This book is a part of a series, but I think it can be a stand alone book. I haven't read the other books in this series but plan on doing so. Janice Cantore has found a new fan of me in her work. I look forward to reading her other novels and the next one in this series. If you haven't read this author before, I encourage you to check her out. You won't be disappointed.

My thanks to Janice Cantore, Tyndale Publishing and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cold Aim is a Christian suspense romance novel by author Janice Cantore. In small-town Rogue’s Hollow everyone knows everyone, especially with the help of the town rumor tree.

The novel focuses on sex trafficking young girls and helps the reader understand the ways and thoughts of a sex offender. Ice, who appears debonair yet is cold as ice, doesn’t mind picking up these girls. The book also helps the reader understand what type of girl these hoodlums look for.

Livie Harp, the town recluse, has a deep secret she has kept for years. Police Chief Tess O’Rourke is no Barney Fife. She is a tough policewoman living in small-town U.S.A.

I appreciated that even though the novel focuses on some tough subjects prayer and faith in God were relied upon in several instances. The town’s preacher, Pastor Oliver Macpherson, welcomed questions regarding God and faith even when His hand at work was hard to see.

I recommend this novel to fans of Christian suspense romance. Even though this is book three of The Line of Duty series it works well as a standalone.

Tess and her small town are recovering from a recent shootout when they receive word that a key witness in a high profile case needs protection in their town. When Chevy arrives, she is soon followed by "Ice" a cold-blooded killer bent on killing Chevy with no regard for anyone who gets in his way. On top of that, Tess meets Livie Harp the town recluse and wonders what is going on with her. A local poacher is killing animals all throughout the woods and the authorities have yet to catch him. Will Tess and her team be able to protect Chevy and the rest of the town? And will her job be the wedge that drivers her apart from Oliver?

I really enjoyed this story. I like that Cantore writes a thrilling, realistic story with plenty of grit. I also loved rooting for the characters. I'm excited to read more.

Mystery, suspense, Mild Romance; Series but stand alone read; Christian faith elements
This was a fun 3.5 read for me. Tess, her hard work to save people in the face of the fire, the hermit, the victim, the Pastor, the other small town community members struggling in the face of the fire, and in the case of the mystery and troubles with all of the crimes, problems and concerns in the community. The plus is seeing both Tess and Oliver figure out their hopes for their developing relationship.
Loved how the clues were gradually uncovered, seeing the criminal's minds and thoughts, the past crimes and background that all come together for Chief O'Rourke to solve the crime and rid their community of the criminals. The wide scope of the crimes, the people affected, and the small town pulling together made for a perfect suspenseful read. The side characters are intriguing and full of 'character'. Great writing and perfect read for me!

A story that could be ripped from today's headlines about human trafficking. Tess has vowed to keep the town of Rogue's Hollow safe but when she is requested to protect a witness in a high profile case, she doesn't know if she can keep her town safe. Full of action and suspense.

Because of a lack of self control, I was unable to put this book down until I finished it at 4am! Time just flew as I turned the pages.

Cold Aim hooked me from page 1 with the drama and suspense. The action scenes are top notch!

The main characters (Tess and Oliver) are so likeable. The main villain so chilling! The Christian aspects are incorporated so well. The good, clean romance is great too.

Janice Cantore is an excellent author. I will be including her in my short list of authors to look out for. I gave up on Book 1 of this series after a few pages, but I will have to go back and take another look.

Thank you, Netgalley and Tyndale for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Cold Aim by Janie Cantore is the third and final book in the In the Line of Duty series. Police chief Tess O"Rourke faces one challenge after another first a wildfire and now protecting a human trafficking victim in the custody of the FBI. As the villains close in, can Tess trust the right people to protect her life, her friends, and those she has been tasked to protect? Once again, Cantore has created a masterful suspense novel that will keep the reader engaged from the beginning until the last page.

How can one teeny tiny Oregon town attract so much trouble? But it most definitely leads to engaging and pleasurable reading.
Janice Cantore’s third and final installment in The Line of Duty series brings readers back to Rogue’s Hollow where Police Chief Tess O’Rourke’s relationship with God had developed (as has her relationship with the town pastor Oliver McPherson).
When a federal agent approaches her about sheltering a witness who can take down a big gun in a sex trafficking sting, Tess isn’t certain it’s the best choice for the town that has just settled from a corrupt law enforcement officer, a drug take down, and a recent forest fire.
Cold Aim is a fantastic continuation of Tess’s new life in Oregon, her growth as a LEO and a person, and the trust she’s gaining from the residents of Rogues Hollow (even though there are still plenty of those who aren’t afraid to express their negative opinions). The action and suspense are top notch and the tie-in to an older crime is seamless.

The third installment in the Line of Duty series gives readers the best yet with more drama, action, adventure and romance than anything Cantore has written to date!
After a wildfire ravages part of Rogue Hollow, Police Chief Tess O’ Rourke tries to get her town back on its feet when the FBI shows up asking Tess to harbor a witness in a human trafficking case. Tess’s gut tells her that this isn’t the best idea, the town is still reeling from the last traumatic event and to put them in harm’s way again goes against her better judgment. When Pastor Oliver Macpherson, the man she has been seeing, continues to be an example of showing compassion to those in need, Tess decides to help the young girl. This isn’t the first time Rogue Hollow has been home to sheltering a victim of human trafficking; unknown to anyone in town a woman has been keeping her own secrets for years and may prove vital in helping Tess with this request from the FBI. Tess must decide who she can trust and what the right thing to do is in order to keep everyone safe.
Janice Cantore uses her years of experience with law enforcement to craft a wonderfully written tale that readers can both relate to and enjoy each character and the situations they tackle. Each book that Cantore writes gets better: better characterization, better story lines and better romance and action. I have enjoyed the story arc of Tess and the people of Rogue Hollow. Tess has evolved into a chief the town can trust after proving herself time and time again. She may have come into town as an outsider but now feels this is truly home and the people around her are family. Her relationship with Oliver has played out in a manner that feels real and timed at a good pace, it’s not rushed and doesn’t drag. Over the course of these novels Cantore has been able to develop these characters, even the minor roles into ones that readers are invested in and want to see pull through in the tough times. My one criticism for this book would be the villain, Ice. At times he was referred to as Ice and other times as Royal. Ice was the nickname he got, and I didn’t have a problem with that, I had a problem with the lack of consistency throughout, the name was switched sometimes within the same paragraph and that was confusing. Once the nickname was given I wish it would’ve stayed consistent. Other than that, the read was very enjoyable, and I can’t wait for Cantore’s next great adventure. I recommend this to fans of Cantore’s books as well as anyone that hasn’t read any of her books. Even though this is the third in the series it could easily be read as a standalone.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

Cold Aim by Janice Cantore did not disappoint. Janice is one of my go to authors. I also enjoyed this cover; I didn’t realize Oliver was so cute 

Tess is a great character. I have enjoyed seeing her grow through the series. In Cold Aim she is helping the town recover from a devastating fire and trying to protect a federal witness.

The hermit in town was my favorite secondary character in this book. She was tough and prepared. My favorite scene was with her at the women’s shelter. She took charge.

Cantore adds those elements to a book to make it real. The daily struggles of a police officer both at home and on the job. I enjoy the comradery between the fellow officers.

The book has the action and adventure you love in a great suspense novel and the thought provoking elements that you come to expect from Cantore. Do police officers and clergy make a good couple?

I highly recommend the book. It can be read alone but I would recommend the series.

Sexual content - this is not really a romance even tho the feelings between Tess and Oliver are moving forward. He does hug and kiss her and having feelings for her.
Violence - 2.5 Janice does a good job of keeping out the details but human trafficking is sad and disturbing, we have victims of is in this book

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Janice Cantore brings it all to the table. Experience, a story-telling talent, and crime-fighting credentials. All add authenticity to this exciting suspense novel. She develops her story with rising tension (chapter 24 is chilling!), along with the beauty of strong faith woven throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Cantore's book, and look forward to reading more of her stories. Well done!

BOOK BY: Janice Cantore
Cold Aim returns to Chief Tess O’Rourke’s sleepy little Oregon town shortly after the drama of book 2 in the Line of Duty series.
Tess and Pastor Oliver MacPherson are embarking a new relationship, though it seems the congregation and everyone close to them thinks they are like oil and water. Determined to give their relationship a chance, it is more than tested throughout the pages of the latest installment of Line of Duty.
The prologue is gripping as a young woman, a star witness, is being hidden until a notorious criminal goes to trial – in a few days’ time. Knowing the family she is staying with is likely in danger, the young woman plans to leave, and unexpectedly witnesses the gruesome murder of the entire family.
Fast forward 25 years – The FBI are on the verge of putting another kingpin of crime – this time human trafficking – away for good, but there’s one problem. Their star witness needs to be hidden, and hidden well. Tess O’Rourke doubts the wisdom in hiding the young victim in Rogue’s Hollow, but agrees to the pressing need. What follows are mysterious disappearances, murder, attempted kidnapping, and more, including a mysterious connection to the missing star witness of 25 years ago.
The pages are filled with drama, excitement, and not without a strong faith element. Issues of redemption are tackled head on, but not in an overly preachy manner.
This is a suspense novel, not without descriptions of crime (murder, kidnapping, or the mindset of a calculating criminal), but the central characters deal with issues of faith and how to reconcile God’s provision of grace, mercy, and ultimate forgiveness in the truly evil people of this world. A perplexing thought, indeed.
I received an ecopy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Cold Aim is a great suspense/action novel that tells the story of a small Oregon town that becomes the center of an FBI investigation regarding teen trafficking and murder. This intense book keeps you on the edge of your seat as you cheer for the main characters and ache for them and their struggles. Romance, Christianity, and real life questions about faith and beliefs are scattered throughout this clean-cut action novel. Great read!!!

I really liked this novel. I don't know which was better, the plot or the characters. The plot could be out of today's newspaper. The FBI is investigating a man trafficking young women and desires to shelter their star witness in a safe place. Chief Tess O'Rourke is unsure her remote Oregon town is the right place. She finds out all too soon that her instincts about a dangerous situation were all too true.

And the characters. I really liked Tess, chief of police. She is dedicated to her job of protecting others. Her responsibility weighs heavy on her. She will not let a crime go until she has given it all she can. She's been hurt in the past and has issues about trusting God.

Oliver is such a great pastor, comforting the devastated and faithfully vising a prisoner. He knows no one of beyond redemption and sees hope when others only see hopelessness. What faith he has in God's redeeming grace and love.

I like that the hint of romance in the novel is subtle and takes a back seat to the danger and suspense permeating the novel. There is a strong spiritual aspect to the novel, fitting well into the progressive action.

A relevant plot, great characters, a good deal of intrigue and suspense, an unexpected twist at the end, all the elements of a good romantic suspense.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Oh my gosh, this book was amazing. The author has you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end, and will keep you guessing just as long. I really liked this book, I had a hard time putting it down. I like Tess she's a stubborn, hard headed, independent person who will stop at nothing to protect those in her town and those she loves. I Loved Livie she was so amazing a strong too. I think so many books now a days make the men the hero, but I would have to say there were a lot of female heroes in this story. I felt like I was not reading fiction, but non-fiction in a sense. There were so very tough subjects in this story but things that are very much happening in every day life. I really had nothing bad to say about this book and I can't wait to read more from this author.

Evil is loudly spoken of from the beginning what motivates then to do evil.
They were cleaver and able ro evade the law. Rogue Hollow a small community the chief wants to keep it safe, when asked to give shelter to a witness from a drug and human trafficking. A fire and the clean up crew brings in evil. There is plenty of non stop action, that is well written to keep one to the end. Given ARC by Net Galley and Tyndale for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
