An amazing fast paced book, which makes you turn pages as fast as possible and want to know more! Characters done so well, you actually feel their emotions and understand their actions! A must read for my fellow lovers of the same tension filled books!
Will make sure I highly recommend to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!

A real page-turner is how I want to describe exactly what "One Little Secret is , with rapid-fire revelations about all the characters that drive the story forward with great momentum.”

This was a quick read. I liked the mystery. And I liked the Detective in charge of the case. I did think that some of the plot wasn't as wrapped up as I would have liked.

Loved this book. Loved this story.

I'm not going to summarize what this is about. You've probably already gotten that far. So I'm going to tell you why you should read this book.

The story is interesting, and suspenseful enough to keep you guessing with a few suprises thrown in.

The writing is engaging. I feel like I know these people. And I want to know more about them, such as what happens next.

It tells a story of domestic abuse, and shows you how easily it could happen to you.

It tells the story of different marriages and how the face other people see isn't the whole story. I was drawn into each relationship

So why didn't I give it 5 stars? Although I loved all the characters, reading from so many points of view, with back and forth in the timeline threw me a few times. I had to stop and think "wait, which person is this?" . But overall I loved this book, and will be looking for more from this author.

Thanks to netgalley for an advance copy of this. I did not let it affect my review. .

I really enjoyed this one! My favorite part of this book was the scenery the author had such a vivid way of writing the layout and the location I felt like I was on the beach myself this would be the perfect read to take on vacation or sit by the pool and dive into. Lots of flawed characters with deep secrets the mystery itself was well written and kept me interested definitely a perfect summer read!

Let me start this review off by saying: if you are a fan of Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies, then this book is for you! Big Little Lies was my favorite mystery of all time…until One Little Secret by Cate Holahan. Cate knocked this one out of the park, for me!

One Little Secret is full of mystery, intrigue, suspicion, lies, deceit, and everything else that makes a great drama-filled-domestic-thriller. It was so amazing I devoured it in one sitting — I just couldn’t put it down. There were times along the way I thought I had it figured out…many times I should say…but I didn’t. I had it all so wrong, and my guess is you will too. One Little Secret is one of those rare books that I want to go back and reread to see what clues I missed (because there are always clues, right?). But, sitting back after the big finale I can’t say that I really saw them. As a lover of all things mystery, this surprises me that I missed clues. Lately, I’ve been a bit disappointed by the mystery book selection. I have figured out many of the top sellers within the first few chapters, but Ms. Cate Holahan brought back my love for the genre with a bang. My hope is this book gets just as much hype as Big Little Lies and we also get a television series. I would love to see this new book come to life on the screen!

Currently One Little Secret is scheduled to release on July 19th; it would make a perfect beach/summer vacation read. I suggest you preorder it now, so you don’t forget; you won’t regret it!

One little secret kept me guessing through the whole book. 3 couples rented a beach house and one turns up dead. Cheating spouses, fights about money and power. Who finally had enough. So many twists to keep you on your feet and wondering who did it. I gave this book 4 stars because it was a good quick read that kept me intrigued. I found the writing style a little hard to follow in some points but overall a great read.

One Little Secret=way too many secrets and lies to go around.
This is a murder mystery that will keep you guessing. There was good character development; this is just a story that I really had a difficult time getting thru.

The story is a whodunnit in the Hamptons. It has drugs, alcohol, secrets, naughty parents, and people who think that they’re above the law. It’s told from multiple perspectives: each of the six neighbors and Gabby the detective. We get to know each character in flashbacks and events in the days before, during, and after someone ends up dead. There is also a side story that is connected to the main plot and further ties the characters together.

The neighbors are upper-middle class parents with successful careers as a doctor, attorney, tech CEO, and writer. None of the neighbors are particularly likeable and they don’t even seem to like each other. I didn’t connect with any of the characters but the storyline is very engaging because it’s about people making really bad decisions. Any one of them could have been the victim or a murderer, so that’s what makes it so interesting.

As the story progresses, I learned that nothing is as it seems and these people are more than just casual neighbors. These six people share more than fences and playdates. They are involved intricately in many unexpected ways.

I like that this story has unusually diverse characters – black, white, Filipino, Middle Eastern – and none of them were stereotyped. It does have a few trigger topics such as domestic abuse and rape, but it’s written very respectfully.

This book is about secrets, marriage, betrayal, murder, domestic violence, assault, addiction, family, and love. I like this book so much better than Cate Holahan’s first novel, Lies She Told. This book has a steady pace, many twists, and reveals that made my mouth drop. The last 20% of the book was the most exciting part where all of the truths were exposed and I flew through it. Great story!

I wanted to love this as I am an avid reader of mystery and thrillers. After the first few chapters I was underwhelmed and struggled to get through to the end. Easy read with an intriguing though largely out of touch social dynamic, as the writer takes you through the lives of three affluent couples on vacation in Hamptons. Each individual begins to reveal significant secrets once a body is found on the beach. A heads up to potential readers, triggering situations involving domestic violence are also revealed. Thank you Netgalley for providing me this advanced copy in exchange for an hoset review.

I enjoyed this book. I usually have somewhat of an idea on who did it, but this book had me guessing until the very end. And it sure wasn't what I expected! Good book, I would definitely recommend

Right from the beginning I knew that I wouldn't be able to put this book down. It was full of unexpected plot twist and had very relatable characters that you can't wait to find out more about them. Susan books a summer house for her and three other couple to share but no one expects that one of them will end up dead. With everyone becoming a suspect, secrets are revealed around every corner right up until the edge of your seat ending. I found this book to be very cleverly written with an original plot and full of twist and turns. With half thriller, half mystery, what's not to love?

Three affluent suburban couples who were neighbors decided to rent an ocean front home in East Hampton for a week one summer. Their kids had all been sent away to camp in Maine and they decided it was the perfect time for a couples vacation.

The couples were very interesting. Jenny had given up the practice of medicine to work on a tv sports network as an expert on injuries involving professional athletes. Her husband, Louis, was an ER surgeon whose identity was wrapped up in his profession. Ben, a former professional athlete, was now a stay at home Dad for his 2 kids while his wife Rachel maintained a lucrative legal practice in NYC. Nadal & Susan were new to the neighborhood. He owned a tech startup and Susan had given up her successful legal career to home school her twin boys.

The first night there was a fight at dinner between Rachel and Ben where she suggested a separation and then she stormed out onto the beach. She remained there all night. The next morning Nadal and Susan were out walking and found Rachel’s dead body near the water.

Detective Sargent Gabby Watkins of the East Hampton PD headed up the investigation into the death as several dark secrets about each couple were exposed.

This is a beach read with a twist: a murder with several likely suspects. None of the characters is very likable or even a happy person. The identity of the murderer is not revealed until the very end.

This book was a pleasant surprise for me. I got into it fairly quickly which is a relief since I've been disappointed in a lot of recently hyped books. Felt it was a good murder mystery, I finished it in a day and enjoyed it!!

Thanks for letting me review

One Little Secret by Cate Holahan is a psychological thriller set in the midst of a friends holiday. Four couples are sharing a beach house when one of them turns up dead. So who did it? All of the little secrets start coming out one by one and as a reader I kept changing my mind as to who had done the deed.

It was an entertaining book but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Still anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers will enjoy this one.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this novel.

This book had a lot of moving parts. It was very interesting to see how the pieces would fit together and how everyone was so intertwined. I definitely was not able to guess the ending! I did feel as though the ending was a little bit out of place. It seemed like she wanted a bigger tie in than she had left her time to write. Plus I found the side story about the rape case to be very heavy on top of an already heavy story. I liked the character development. I felt like I got to know each character deeper than a superficial level. And the plot moved at a quick enough pace that I never felt bored or like I knew what was going to happen. Overall, it was a good read. There were twists I did not see coming as well as a likable cast of characters to help get you through.

I loved the description of this book and was eager to read it. After stumbling through the first few chapters and getting to know the characters, I realized this wasn’t going to be a book I enjoy. The whiny characters annoyed me, and I’m really tired of reading about the lame problems of rich people. However, I really wanted to move past my first impression and give the book a chance to wow me, and did so on several occasions because I wanted to get to the heart of the secret. After skimming through nearly half the book, I realized it was foolish to force myself to do something that I should be doing for pleasure. It was like being at a party where I don’t like any of the guests. Sadly, I had to put this book in the DNF zone. I may try to pick it up later and try again. The writing was good, and the story was ok, but the characters didn’t resonate with me.
