Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this

A shadowy manipulator has brought his deadly game to the streets of LA. In a crime spanning generations, it seems Nikki Roberts knows all too much—and a ruthless killer knows the price of her silence.

Sidney Sheldon's The Silent Widow is fantastically written. True to Sheldon's writings this novel does not disappoint. The characters are well-crafted and the novel has just enough suspense to keep you interested until the very end.

I was hooked from the very beginning of this story. There are so many twists and turns to this. You don’t know how many people are involved and connected to the psychiatrist and her husband who was killed. While she is trying to accept her husband and his infidelity she unravels so much by accident. Now she doesn’t know who is on her side. Very gripping. I read this pretty much all in one sitting.

A well-written thriller that kept me hooked until the end. The writing is good and the narrative even-paced. Suspense lovers will love the book.

The story and writing in this book is so good you start reading and forget to come up for air. This is definitely a one day read, you will not be able to put it down for long. The past and present crimes are woven together to make a story where our main character becomes the focus of a killer. Her reactions to the threats only feed the suspense more. Great book.

This is the first Sidney Sheldon Book I have read by Tilly Bagshawe. It is a suspenseful thriller and there were a few surprises. However it did not read as quickly as a Sheldon book. There were far too many characters and it dragged on too long. The main character does not have a lot of rooting value and she does manage to put herself in danger needlessly. I liked some of the supporting characters better. It does make a good beach read.

I'd read one of Tilly Bagshawe's books before, and I hadn't liked it much. I gave this one a try because:

a) I was getting a free ARC from dear Netgalley.
b) I never judge an author by reading just one of their books.

So, I picked up The Silent Widow, hoping it wouldn't disappoint me yet again. It didn't.

It totally had that "Sidney Sheldon" vibe I'd missed so much. The way Mr. Sheldon could throw a twist right at the climax is what made him my favourite thriller author. The Silent Widow had a tinge of that magic and I loved it.

The characters were engaging, there was thrill, suspense, nail biting. Everything a good thriller requires.

So yeah, The Silent Widow has managed to change my opinion about Tilly Bagshawe and I'm gonna give some of her other books a shot.

The Silent Widow by Sidney Sheldon; Tilly Bagshawe
Good mystery going on here with many characters some likeable some not (most), there were plenty of murders, drug cartel involvement, Russians, crooked cops and politicians galore! It starts off with a young au pair going missing when in Mexico to a psychologist who loses her husband in a car accident or was it an accident?! You won't want to miss this book! Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers Crooked Lane for letting me read this ARC and give my opinion!

This book revolves around a grieving widow. But what is more painful for her is the feeling of betrayal. You will feel her emotions very acutely. There is a chain of events that surrounds her psychology practise as there are some serial murders. She becomes one of the prime suspects. After this the book is a ride of so many secret openings, new characters, stories within stories. The thriller is so great that you will not put it down before the criminal is found. I heartily recommend this book to all the thriller readers. I received an ARC of this book from netgalley for my unbiased and honest review.

I'm always a little reluctant to read books by authors writing 'with' famous authors. Often, the work feels amateurish and somewhat incomplete. That's not the case here. This could easily be a book written just by Sidney Sheldon himself. My only complaint would be the number of characters - - and how so many of them ended up dead! It seemed rather extreme and would probably have been just as effective with fewer characters to keep track of. But that's a small complaint and in no way takes away from the fast-paced, page-turning quality of this complex story. Twist after twist and overall just a really good read.

THE BEGINNING STARTS OFF WITH A BANG: a girl goes off to Mexico as an au pair for a wealthy couple and then disappears. End prologue and the story shifts to psychologist Dr. Nikki Roberts, her patients, murder, and an LAPD detective who has it out for her. Why? I don’t know.

The beginning reels the reader in with a fast pace, but as the pages move on the story gets slower and slower. The author writes beautifully, which is why I am still reading. And at approximately 40 percent our private investigator Derek Williams finally shows up. I am 42 percent into the book (Kindle location) and I am still not clear as to where the story is going and why? Lots of tidbits-of-information about people in this book, but all are still loose threads with no direction.

It finally all came together to a certain extent, but I am still left with a “what the h*ll just happened?” Another reviewer mentions Sidney Sheldon’s “The Naked Face” as being the original to this story. I think I am going to go read that next. I would classify this as a decent read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books, Sidney Sheldon and Tilly Bagshawe for providing me with an ARC.

A great book for readers of this genre.

It kept me turning pages right from the start and I loved every bit of it.
Twists and turns in the plot make you want to keep reading discover the whodunnit moment.

Sheldon's fans and fans of this genre can rejoice.

It was a pleasure to discover Tilly Bagshawe's writing which is reminiscent of the late Sidney Sheldon, a favourite author of mine many years ago.
"The Silent Widow" revolves around Psychologist Dr. Nikki Roberts. Still mourning the sudden loss of her husband a year ago, one of her clients and her PA are both found murdered after being brutally tortured.
Harassed by an insufferable detective who wants to pin the horrific crimes on Nikki, she hires a PI to resolve the mystery surrounding their deaths only to find herself in extreme danger.
In true Sheldon style this novel is a page turner and keeps you guessing til the end.
Highly Recommended

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

To be honest I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one. From the beginning there is a lot going on and there’s a lot of POV so it can get confusing. Suddenly everything is going on at the same time and it’s explosive. It’s a good book if you’re looking for action. I became very frustrated with the main character. I feel that she’s not a good therapist and she is in serious need of a lot of therapy her self. I question her actions and feelings towards both patients and people around her. But it’s worth a read

This was a crazy read. The mystery /suspense has been well maintained till the end. The plot was well built and carried on.

There are way too many characters. But apart from that, the writing was flawless. This was my first take of Tilly Bagshawe, but after reading I am sure I will try more of her works.

The start is very different. You might feel like dropping it. But HANG ON! The story builds on after that and than it’s a whole lot interestinG

Nikki Roberts is a psychologist in LA who is still grieving the loss of her husband a year ago when one of her patients dies and before she knows it she is linked with a murder trail all linked to her patients. Fearing for her own life she has no faith in the police and so gets her own private detective to try and track down the killer.... but will he find them in time!

A good story full of suspense and typical Sydney Sheldon twists and turns and red herrings so it is hard to put down!
