This was a book I really enjoyed reading and did not want to put down. Two girls in their late teens are living in a cabin in the woods with no modern technology or luxuries. Their mother has convinced her daughters that the world outside is dangerous and they cannot leave the cabin. The mother takes their younger sister who is sick to get medical car and after a couple months hasn’t returned. A man shows up to the cabin and scares the girls who run away seeking shelter at a nearby house they did not know existed. The remainder of the book is spent trying to figure out who the girls are and what happened to their mother. The reactions of the girls to modern technology and culture made for an interesting. When with the mystery of why they were hiding in a cabin, made for a book that couldn’t put down. Some events in the book are a bit far fetched, but it is fiction so I didn’t dwell on it too much.

Minka Kent delivers another addictive book! 4 stars for The Stillwater Girls.
I don't know if I'd really call Kent's books thrillers. They're more like women's fic with some suspense elements. I enjoyed this book the most out of 3 or 4 Minka Kent books I've read. This author definitely knows how to write an engrossing, captivating & addictive story! You just can't put her books down.
I only have 2 books left by Minka Kent and I'm excited to pick the next one up! Even though I haven't given her stories 5 stars yet, I LOVE her work.
Do I recommend this book? Yes, I do!

I really wasn't expecting the twists and turns this book took. The plot felt a little disjointed in the beginning and I was wondering how everything would connect but I think it was so well done and the twists definitely kept me on my toes.
Really looking forward to reading more from this author.

I found this to be so intriguing! The writing really drew me in and created a sense of anticipation. I found the two storylines to be interesting, the girls more than the woman, but it was a nice juxtaposition.

Wren, Sage and Evie have lived with their mom in a secluded cabin in the woods for as long as they can remember. But one day the youngest sister becomes ill and their mom leaves with her for help. Months later they have not returned and the girls have very little supplies left. Then just when they are about to lose hope there is a knock at the door!
I really enjoyed the dual POV's between Nicolette and Wren. Nicolette is a young married woman who desperately wants children of her own but has not been able to successfully carry a child. She knows she wants to be a mom so she begins pushing her husband to adopt.
The two storylines felt like pieces of a puzzle that just needed to be put together correctly. And when they do finally combine it is wonderful.

My second book and I’m hooked on Minka’s story telling! It’s the perfect amount of thriller, mystery and surprise! Her characters wrapping warmth around your heart. I loved every second of my curiosity of what was happening and the puzzle I kept trying to put together.
Three girls living in a forest a world of their own. Until one day there was only two and then the mystery of the unknown is opened to them. What they find out is unlike no other.
A wife and husband on a clasp of destruction. Lies and secrets threaten their future! How these two stories collide is a true shocker! You never see or can imagine how this all comes together!

This was a great read. I was gripped right from the very start. It started off as a psychological thriller but the genre changed as I read on. I have to say I loved it. Wren, Sage and Evie, sisters were raised in isolation, away from civilisation, away from socialisation. They were unaware of a life beyond the forest. They were unaware of all that they were missing, all that they were being denied. When Evie takes ill their mother leaves with her to get help and never returns. As the harsh conditions of winter approach the girls begin to worry but never as much as when a stranger arrives and claims to be looking for their mother while demanding that they go along with him. The fear him instantly and run. much further than they have ever gone before, to a house nearby where they learn secrets that have been kept from them all of their lives. Nothing is as they believed. Will they ever be able to trust anybody ever again? I was hooked right from the start and didn't want this to end. Well done Minka Kent!!

A haunting story about two lost little girls and how they found themselves and learned to love. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

Description
Two sisters raised in fear are about to find out why in a chilling novel of psychological suspense from the author of The Thinnest Air. Ignorant of civilization and cautioned against its evils, nineteen-year-old Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie, were raised in off-the-grid isolation in a primitive cabin in upstate New York. When the youngest grows gravely ill, their mother leaves with the child to get help from a nearby town. And they never return.

No spoilers with my review! This was a great story from Minka Kent!

Very satisfying read. Two stories meshing. Great characters, fast paced plot, which I really like. Read in one day. Will look forward to more from Minka Kent.

This was a very interesting book from the beginning and then it just got more and more entertaining. I really enjoyed all the revelations that happened. I thought the characters were well rounded and the plot moved itself along really well. I would read more books by this author in the future.

This book is a psychological thriller/suspense and has two POVs: Wren (19 year old girl) and Nicolette (30 something year old woman).
The story starts off with what seems like two completely separate stories. We have Wren and her sister Sage living alone in a remote cabin. And we have Nicolette who desperately wants to have kids. She lives with her husband who is a famous photographer.
Both of these stories were very interesting and I really wanted to find out how the strings would become connected.
This story had some very interesting facets. I was taken by Wren and her sister living in a remote cabin and being unaware of the rest of the world and was reminded of the long ago movie Nell. I was intrigued by Nicolette and her suspicions about her husband. I quite enjoyed the interesting twists and reveals. Overall I thought that this was a wonderful mystery.

Everything was going well with this book until close to the very end. You know when a terrible reveal just kills an otherwise-okay book? That's what happened here, and I can't recommend it.

The book is split between of two points of view. One chapter is a 19-year-old girl called Wren, who lives with her two sisters and mother in a dilapidated cabin in the woods. This primitive existence is all they have ever known, isolated from the rest of the world. The main rule is never to venture into the woods. Then their youngest sister gets ill and their mother must head out to get help. Months pass, and supplies become scarce. Wren realises that, to survive they must break the most sacred rule and leave the forest.
The next chapter was from the point of view of another woman who believes her husband is having an affair in modern day New York. The odd juxtaposition of the alternating character was a little jarring at first as you’re not sure where this fits into the narrative and what is going on. How the two stories are linked in a mystery of twists and turns and shocking reveals. It was definitely a book that had me gripped.
The plot may be a little implausible at times, but it was all tied together with some brilliant characters and excellent storytelling.

First off I want to thank @netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Stillwater girls is an extremely fast paced gripping thriller. It's non stop action packed from beginning to end.
•
The characters are solid and felt realistic, the story was dark and chilling. There are some aspects that I was questioning the reality of but it was still an unputdownable book for me. Read it from beginning to end in one sitting I couldn't leave it. I loved the double POV between Nice and Wren. It was hard to understand how they would fit together and how they did I was not expecting that at all.

If you're looking for a fast paced thriller that you won't be able to stop reading. Definitely pick this one up!

The Stillwater Girls
Psychological Suspense/thriller
Minka Kent, author
Another exhilarating novel by one of my favorite suspense/thriller writers. The title alone had the bayou effect and drew me in. Intriguing character development that displayed courage, conviction and strength. Ms. Kent just keeps getting better and better with each of her story-lines. The book blurb was another draw in, but did not even touch how Brant and Nicolette Gideon fall into the story-line. Two seemingly separate story-lines, Ms. Kent does an amazing job of bringing them together with a heart wrenching twist and an end that I did not see coming. Get this book now and read it for yourself. I highly recommend it. I was afforded an advanced reader copy from the author and I voluntarily chose to leave this review.

The Stillwater girls
They were raised in isolation, taught to fear the outside world.
Two sisters Wren and Sage are left alone in their cabin while their mother seeks medical attention for their younger sister Evie.
Months pass and Evie and their mother haven’t returned. When a man, a stranger shows up on their door step Wren and Sage flee braving the unknown.
This book honestly took a different turn than I was expecting, and I think what happened in the second half of the book was unrealistic if it were to happen in real life. But it made for a fast paced entertaining read.

This book looked great when I first saw it but now I am realizing it just wasn’t for me. I think that this will be great for many people but not for me at this time.

This book had so much potential. It was engaging, fast-paced, with interesting characters and intriguing mystery. But the endings, plural. were just too far-fetched and contrived. Ask me to suspend disbelief once for an otherwise well written book, no problem. But four over-the-top plot twists? I can't.
