This was just not my kind of book at all. I had gone in with some expectations but they were all disappointed.

Not what I thought it would be. It's a cute read and a fast one, but a little too dull... I would've wanted more fantasy than I got with it.

Ooo! First off the cover is gorgeous!
I dont usually read books like this one. But I thought I'd give this one a chance.
I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Every page was a surprise and the book loved to take unexpected turns at every corner.
I recommend it. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!

This dark fantasy novel was fairly deep. People often use fiction as a way to answer questions we don't in real life and this novel seemed designed to ask: "What is the meaning of life for a stranger standing outside the normal flow of humanity?" and "Where is my place in the world when part of me is dark?" I think these are interesting questions a lot authors and people who think through the ages have faced and the writer certainly puts their own twist on it. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but it's interesting to me in that both the hero and the protagonist seem to be loners who find their way on the outside of life looking in for deeper meaning. It reminds me of books like The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger by Stephen King, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, American Gods by Neil Gaimon, or the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. I certainly appreciated the art in the pages. My major reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is this type of novel is not light or easy to read so I think it might go over some readers' heads. Nothing wrong with that. This just isn't a light book.

My Review: The first thing I have to say about this book IS THAT COVER OMG! The story is one that sounded familiar just a little to others with the fey and hearts being taken. It was a little bit of fiction and a little bit of fantasy and I have to say that it was pretty good. I liked the characters and the story and I hope we get another one from this world. I do think that it could have been a little longer but you can't get everything. If you are looking for something with pretty much a little bit of everything then check this one out.

The Girl with a Fairy's Heart, by Cody Lakin. I had a hard time getting going with this book and it just failed to resonate with me. Not a bad book simply not for me. Thank you for giving me a chance with this book and best of luck.

This book was received as an ARC from Black Rose Writing in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book in one word........Invigorating. Every page was a surprise and the book loved to take unexpected turns at every corner. This book defines what it means to have a dark past and have people still judge you from it from the point where it leaves you alone and helpless just as Casey felt throughout the book until he met Jezebel who is said to have a fairy's heart and Casey learns more than what he thought. Little does Casey know that the darkness from his past, could be the make or break moment for Jezebel to get to her rightful destination. Every chapter my eyes were invested and I could not wait to see what each of them brought to the book. Our reader's will find this intriguing and not want to stop.

We will consider adding this book to our Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
