Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Written very simplistically almost as if the author was extremely young. A lot of she thinks at the end of sentences. This could have been written so much better.

This book started off well with a heartbreaking first chapter. But unfortunately after that it started to get boring and long winded. It didn’t take me long to guess what was happening and who was responsible. Not a very exciting read.

A very sad disturbing heartbreaking story that will keep you gripped the whole way through!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Nicole Trope for the arc of My Daughter’s Secret my review is honest and unbiased.

This title did not resonate with me. I thought the topic was interesting, and the opening was great, but all of the characters are pretty awful. It's a sad day when the character you like the most physically abused his wife. I do think this gets the all consuming notion of grief right...but the narration seems to detract from the emotion that is underlying. Overall, this did not live up to its potential. Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the opportunity to review this title.

I could not put this book down. I was utterly captivated by Claire's story and desperate to find out what happened to her daughter. And when the twist finally came, I was totally blindsided. Fantastic storytelling.

4.5 stars

When Claire's daughter, Julia, commits suicide, she is consumed with unimaginable grief. Searching for answers, she finds letters hidden under her daughter's bed in an old shoe box.

At first, Claire's heart is eased as she discovers that Julia was happy, she loved being a college student... and that she was in love.

But the tone of the letters slowly change and Claire feels something else was going on with her daughter .. something dark and secretive.

Claire questions everything she thought she knew about her daughter.

This is probably the most emotional book I've read in a really long time. I cried along with Claire as she grieved ... I laughed with Claire when she remembered fun times ... I felt her pain when a secret was revealed.

This was well written, gripping, emotional ... I highly recommend this one. Just remember to keep a box of tissues handy.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for this intensely reading. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of "My Daughter's Secret" by Nicole Trope in exchange for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the premise of "My Daughter's Secret" by Nicole Trope, but overall I was left disappointed. Claire's heartbreak and determination to find out what really happened to her daughter, Julia, was emotionally draining. I found the plot line to be too predictable. It's like something was missing. I felt that there were too many minor characters being placed in the who could be Julia's lover and that was a huge tip off for me right away. I do look forward to reading other works by this author in the future.

The story of a family in the aftermath of a horrific event. Nicole Trope has written a very emotional story with enough skill to make it readable while still expressing the emotions the characters would show. The topics are sensitive but timely while the daughter's letters reveal the pain she was trying to escape. Very much a good book that will leave you thinking.

My baby girl, I’ll never forget you – your smile, your laugh, the way your hair sparkles in the sun. I cannot comprehend this pain. I cannot breathe through it.

In the middle of the night, Claire wakes up to discover that her beloved daughter, Julia, is dead – and life, as she knows it, is over.

Searching for answers, Claire stumbles upon a pile of letters, hidden under Julia’s bed in an old, battered shoebox, and feels closer to her daughter than ever before. They tell her that Julia was happy, that she was thriving at university, that she was in love.

But as the letters go on, Claire starts to feel uneasy at something hidden between the lines. Even as she grieves, she must prepare to face a shocking discovery. Because Julia was hiding a terrible secret – and when it’s uncovered, it will make Claire question everything she thought she knew about her daughter…

Oh my god!!! Just wow!!! I have just finished this book and what am amazing read it is. This book sucked me right in from the very first page, and when I got to about halfway through, I started to have a sick feeling in my stomach, and until the very last page, that feeling didn't leave me. I don't want to say anymore for fear of spoiling the story, but please read this book. Very highly recommended from me!!!

My first read from this author and I was pleased overall. It's a story that tackles two of the biggest stigmas to date, domestic violence and suicide. Although I couldn't entirely jel with all the characters, I could definitely understand Claire's incredible grief when it came to her daughter's suicide. It's a tremendously shocking and sudden lose that many find it hard to comprehend. I felt that. Is it depressing, yes. But it's also very real, and definitely strikes a chord among readers. It certainly makes you think especially when it's so prevalent in society today. And then there's the domestic violence. Shocking, infuriating, emotion provoking, and senseless. Again, it's a topic that is current and needs to be talked about in order to spread awareness. I felt the author did justice to both topics and thank her for making it a highlighted topic in her story. The more it's talked about, the more we're looking for it.

It was well written, overall, I did come across a few slowish moment and no real twists although I was left emotionally touched and happy that I crochet my blankets and donate them to a domestic violence safe house program!

Thank you Bookouture for my ebook review copy.

Wow. That is really all I can say. I picked this book up this afternoon and finished it tonight. It was heart-wrenching, pulse-racing, and nerve-wracking. The story focuses on Claire, mother to Julia, a twenty year old woman who takes her own life on Halloween. My heart broke for both women throughout the story. Claire is suspended in guilt and wracked with loss. As she delves deeper into Julia's life, trying to find why this horrible thing has happened, Julia's story is one that makes me want to yell and shout at people. I have a twenty four year old daughter. I went to her half-way through the story to remind her that there was never anything she could tell me that would make me not love her. The story takes the reader from the first emotional moment and you will ride this roller coaster until it is over. I chose this book on a whim, when I read what it was about. I will be looking for more books by the author though. I am ready for more. Don't pick this up if you want a light-hearted read. I will need to be read with a focus, but it is well worth the focus and time. You will not want to put it down.
I received a free copy of this story from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This is such a beautiful, heart-wrenching book. The pain her parents must have felt not only that their child was dead but that she committed suicide, I cannot imagine and hope I never find out.
Nicole, you have outdone yourself! The story just flowed and kept my interest through out. I cried harder than I ever have with any other book. I couldn’t put this down I needed to know what was in the letters. The characters were very realistic and easily relatable. I give this book an A++

A good book but by the end I was feeling depressed and emotionally drained.
It was well written but the topics in the book were hard to read at times.

Not sure I would read anymore books by this author

I could not put this book down. I had to force myself to put it down and go to bed. I was hooked from page one right through to the end. I will definitely read more of her books

I read this book very quickly but more to just get it over with than any great sense of wanting to know what happened.
Very predictable and a somewhat unlikable main character made this just a two star rating from me.

Wow! This book was heartbreaking and amazing all at once. I’ve read this author before and she was just as good this time!
This story was painful and heartbreaking to read... yet also gripping and compelling.
Although I did figure out the end part way, it was still a phenomenal read.

When 20 year old Julia is found hanging on her families porch on Halloween night is it a suicide or murder?
Her mother sets out on a mission to find out.
It takes a long time for her to find out what readers will probably figure out for themselves in the first third of the book like I did. It spoiled it a bit for me as I think too much was revealed too soon. I couldn't connect with the characters and I found it all a bit depressing really.
Sorry but it wasn't really for me.
