A big thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I liked this alot. It has a pretty complicated plot, and keeping the cast of characters straight. Never thought about the presidents sister in law before. A little different perspective. The chemistry between Adam and Josslyn was fun! I loved her job. 4 stars. I think most Romance readers will enjoy.

Book two in Tracy Solheim’s Men of the Secret Service series, Shot In
The Dark is mostly set in Washington DC in and around the White House. The story pairs the president’s sister in law, Dr Josslyn Benoit, with Secret Service Agent Adam Lockett, who has been assigned to protect her.
I loved Joss for her dedication, her feisty and determined approach to her cause no matter the cost, and her tender side. I loved Adam too. His clear frustration with Joss over her headstrong actions and his dedication to keeping her safe regardless made him pretty special. Together these two were a truly dynamic duo and the roller coaster of twists and turns they faced throughout the story made for exciting reading.

I found this book quite hard to get into...I just didn’t like Joss. She came of as very spoiled, though sometimes I didn’t blame her as her family never gave her any reason to be anyone else than then who they think she is.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.. I really enjoyed this book and the love connection between Josslyn and Adam.

Josslyn finds herself again in a situation where she needs the help of her brother in law, the president. Under his protection and the secret service, she gets assigned to Adams detail. Finding out he is someone from her past starts the sparks flying between them.

Great read and you won’t want to put it down.

Very enjoyable romantic suspense. This one is vastly different from what I usually read but intriguing and entertaining all the same. It has amazing characters that are well developed, excellent writing, and a storyline full of suspense with touches of humor and witty banter. Adam and Josslyn had great chemistry and you could feel their connection right away. I'd definitely recommend this one.

Murder.......animal & human takes us into the sad world of animal trafficking. I’m so genuinely impressed by how author Tracy Solheim took us into this world. The details involving animal trafficking are horrible & brought to life in this wonderful story, I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the passion of Josslyn when it came to the elephants & other wild animals endangered. She was bold & fiery & fierce with passion & determination to save these animals. She was also finding herself in dangerous situations because of this though. Adam was just as fierce with a stubborn edge when it came to duty & following orders. After being injured on the job, Adam is back on protection detail of the one person he never thought he’d see again. Adam has already rescued Josslyn once before & had opened himself up to her only to disappear after the rescue was completed. Now he has to keep her safe & figure out who’s behind this trafficking ring she’s determined to uncover. Even through all the drama & fear in this book, author Tracy Solheim has included humour at the perfect intervals to keep it interesting & not too dark. I enjoyed her humour which had me laughing out loud at points & her ability to make it work in such a serious story. I also enjoyed seeing Griff & Marin again & am looking forward to Ben’ s story. Definitely recommend.

I enjoyed the previous book in the series and was looking forward to this one. It was alternately thrilling, suspenseful and emotional. Very well done.

When a tribal militia hunter shoots at her teammates during a wildlife conservationist group mission, resulting in one of her team members getting shot, the zoologist Josslyn Benoit calls in a favor from her older half-sister, the First Lady of the United States. Returning back home to American soil, she is held under the protection of Adam Lockett, commander of the Secret Service’s elite team of snipers who is forced to work on a boring protective detail after a major head injury. The She-Devil, the name he deem fit best for her, is hell-bent on ditching her detail every opportunity she gets leaving the sniper on the tips of his toes and he plans on being one step a head of her.

Their witty banter had me laughing out loud and you can definitely sense there is a connection the first moment they meet, even years prior during a military rescue mission in the middle of the ocean. Unable to forget the kiss from once upon ago, they are unable to denied nor their overpowering attraction and emotions flared up. This suspenseful action-packed romance series was filled with great characters struggling with past and present issues, well written and thought-provoking content and a perfectly blend set of characters that brought the entire story together. Furthermore, like many other greatly written suspense romance novels, the romance built-up and wasn't rushed despite the hard-hitting chemistry. "Shot in the Dark" was a perfectly blend mix of compelling romance, action-packed suspense, humor, and a kick-ass heroine.

Being my first Tracy Solheim novel read, needless to say, it won't be my last and I am looking forward to reading the "The Men of the Secret Service" followup series. If my 4.5 star rating is any
indication, "Shot in the Dark" is highly recommendation.

Exciting and interesting, as well as humorous, heart-warming, and romantic. An enjoyable page turner. I skip over the intimate details, but really was captured by the scenes in the White House, zoo, and Africa.. I devoured this book in one day.

This is a great story, featuring two smart, headstrong individuals, with opposite personalities and clashing agendas. There is a strong comedy dimension, especially in the first half of the story, which is highly enjoyable and made me laugh several times (what a great scene when elephant Mila tries to seduce the stern agent). The humor is enhanced by the balance between the author’s distant/neutral perspective, Adam’s stoicism and sternness and Josslyn’s impetuousness; watching the aloof Special Agent Adam Lockett as the Tower of Testosterone is just downright amusing.
The hero has a dark past (“He was damaged goods with a black hole where his heart should be.”) and the heroine is nursing hurts of her own. Their powerful attraction is even more riveting when they try to fight it and repeatedly challenge and tease each other.
The suspense plotline focuses on poaching of elephants and there’s an admirable foray into Alzheimer’s disease too.
In the last 30% of the story, I got a little lost and bored with the suspense dimension and I found the pacing a bit uneven.
But this story was thoroughly enjoyable and has great side characters - I’m eager to read the sexy geek’s (Ben) story.

I really liked Adam in the first book in this series and was looking forward to reading his book. I thought the plot was interesting (and very disturbing). It took me a while to really feel the connection between Adam and Joss, however. I sometimes struggle with liking enemies-to-lovers books, so that's probably my own issue. I had trouble understanding Adam and Jossalyn's family's disdain for her animal rights efforts. It's not like she's some rogue activist slinging paint on snooty women wearing fur; she's a respected zoologist! Nonetheless, the story itself seemed very realistic. I loved the first book in the series and will definitely keep reading more by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for providing an ARC for review.

Shot in the Dark by Tracy Solheim. Book two in The Men of the Secret Service series. A great addition to the series. A romantic suspense story. Great storyline, characters and a dialogue that pulls you in. I look forward to seeing what the next book brings us.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a decent romance with some intrigue. Adam is made Joss's Bodyguard detail after she is targeted for going after elephant pouchers. Although Joss is portrayed as an intelligent, animal crusader, I also felt like Adam and her family treated her like a spoiled little girl they had to constantly protect. It got a little annoying that she had to continue to defend her cause.
Other than that, Adam and Joss had great chemistry and the story entertaining.
