This was an okay devotional. I didn't find it very deep...and maybe it wasn't supposed to be. Just not for me.

Untroubled: Devotions and Prayers for Finding Calm in a Chaotic World by Marian Leslie

2 stars (DNF @ 34%)

Untroubled is a devotional book that is marketed as focusing on escaping chaos on refocusing and centering yourself in the calm that Jesus provides. I really wanted to like this book. From the start I struggled. I struggled to connect to the devotionals and often found myself becoming frustrated with the abrupt ending of each devotional. I have read a couple of devotional books now and I must admit I've read devos shorter than this that lead me to feeling more connected to God's word and challenged in the areas where I was lacking and needing more of Him. Sadly, this book left me frustrated because I noticed this pattern of storytelling that leads to nowhere. Leslie often provides stories that at first seem to be in alignment with Scripture at the beginning of the devotional, but quickly peter off into random questions and then a prayer that is as long as sentence fragment. It left me feeling uncertain of whether I was reading the full devotional. I guess my own personal opinion is that Leslie would stop the Spirit from moving because she met a word count or page quota for the devo and it just didn't feel right. I sought the Lord's advice and He told me to leave this one behind. I don't think I'll be returning to it due to my own personal preferences in devotional books. I think there is something to be gained if you are looking to supplement your Bible reading with a devotional book, but this one was not for me.

Cover Thoughts: I really love this cover. It's eye-catching and kind of cheesy, but I love the colors.

Thank you, Netalley and Barbour Books, for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I am reviewing a copy of Untroubled Through Barbour Publishing and Netgalley:

In this devotional we are reminded that we are bought at a price, not based on what we could do for God, but based on how God treasures us. We are encouraged too not be Lukewarm as well. We are reminded too of coming to the Lord when we are facing times of trouble but not only then we should come to God at all times.

This devotional reminds us too of the importance of encouraging hope and to not allow ourselves to be separated from God, as well as the importance of not going against God! This book encourages to stop judging as well as to forgive others.

If you are looking for a Good Devotional I recommend Untroubled!

Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Don't miss this devotional!!

This is an exceptionally well-written devotional. Marian Leslie not only writes beautifully, but her devotions have a quiet power to them, and are so relatable that this reader felt as if each one was written for me, personally! Each devotion start with a scripture, followed by the devotional message/lesson, and ends with a short prayer.

Untroubled is among the best devotionals I've read and will take its place among my most often used ones. I highly recommend it.

It would make a nice gift for any Christian.

Many thanks to NetGalley and to Barbour Books for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions stated here are my own.

This devotional is unique in it's beautiful way with words. While all devotionals tend be descriptive, this one was beautiful. It's really easy to read and the author clearly has an amazing way with words. Even the titles grab your attention.

Each devotional has a verse, devotional, and prayer. They are very short and sweet so you could easily work these into your day. I definitely added this to my list of favorite devotionals and I have read a number of devotionals.

I received this book free from netgalley in exchange for this honest review.
