This is the fifteenth book in this series by this author. This book can be read as a stand alone read or as part of the series. If your looking for a read that has action and romance with some fantasy mixed in, this is the book for you. Amazing well written characters which have a fantastic story line. This is not my usual genre but i enjoyed it. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended

This is the 15th book in the series and this story is about Vlad and Claire. Vlad has been asleep in his mountain for a long time and is learning to life in this different world. Vlad has finally recovered his sword but it no longer responds to him. Can Claire help him discover why? This is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama, twists and turns. I like Vlad but Claire wasn’t the strong heroine we are use to. I really liked it and look forward to finding out what is in store for our Dragon Kings next.

Another exciting chapter as the series advances. The forces for good and evil are readying for an epic battle. Even as many facts long hidden come to light enough mystery remains to keep readers chomping at the bit. This story whips up the excitement even while bring V and Claire together with some very interesting surprises to keep this story exciting. V has slept centuries. Awake and with his sword restored he should be in good shape but unfortunately even as he's afraid to wield his sword, the sword itself no longer responds to him. It's only when he gives in to his desire for Claire aided and manipulated by some of his fellow kings does his sword show a spark of response.
In parallel things are heating up between Usaeil who has been revealed to be more dark than white even while she still apparently reigns as the light fae queen and the forces of good that consist of the kings, Rhi, Death, and a surprise addition on the side of light. Usaeil also has been plotting and sowing seeds of disruption which will have long lasting impact on the dragon kings and their soul mates.
An interesting tidbit in the last few books has been the anecdotes on the Misadventures of Dating from the secret blogger who's not so secret anymore. The identity and the big reveal is somewhat of a let down but it was nice while it lasted.
Of course there are a lot of references about Rhi and her mysterious dragon king lover and also revelations about the good and bad druid forces that are responsible for the magic that seems to be stronger than a dragon kings magic. I'm salivating as things seem to be falling in place for the epic showdown and the status quo is changing.
As the story heats up and appears to be heading to an inevitable confrontation I can't wait to see it all play out.

This book continues the story of the dragon kings. If this is your first journey into this world – welcome! I think it may be a little difficult to catch up, but don’t doubt that it can be done. There is so much build-up to where we are now, but things are always changing along the way.

This story centers around V. Sure, there is a bunch of side story around Rhi’s building/upcoming war (and ex-boyfriends) and there’s always the bigger storyline making progress, but this was all about doing right by V. Poor guy, he has this nasty habit of causing mass destruction when he wakes from his slumber, so he may be the most out of touch dragon king of the bunch. This time around, as we learned in the last book, he finally found his missing sword and is somewhat whole again. Weird, though, that he still feels like he is missing something. It becomes pretty clear after a few pages of interaction between him and Claire. Maybe interaction is too strong a word as they were almost dancing around one another.

Claire is a woman who just cannot seem to meet the right man. Maybe she’s self-sabotaging at this point, because who could get into a relationship where you could never reveal a secret you’ve kept for years. Claire remembers her time being kidnapped and introduced to the magical world of dragons, evil, and other assorted monsters. She doesn’t hold a grudge, but she actively lied to avoid getting her memory removed. She knows V is more than he appears, but that doesn’t stop her from falling head over heels for the guy. It’s definitely not one-sided and these two ignite (see what I did there?) the pages of my kindle. There was an interesting and possibly heart breaking twist thrown in that I can’t wait to see play out in later books. Bring on more of these awesome dragon kings!

In Ignite, we delve into the world of V. This novel focuses a lot on character development and interaction without a ton of answers in the ongoing plot, however it sets us up for what will certainly be an explosive book 16 in the Dragon Kings series. Vlad learns that not all humans are evil, and there is one who can melt his heart. Clare is a strong, independent female lead who even though she is confident in her abilities, feels lost in the world. Together, they make an explosive couple.

“I’m with you because every time I see you, I crave to touch you. I long to kiss you, and I hunger to claim your body. The many reasons I want you have nothing to do with the sword, and everything to do with how I feel when I’m with you.”

Donna Grant's writing style stays consistent and engaging, the plot doesn't stagnate and we continue to get to know even more Dragon Kings building up for what will, I'm sure, be an epic finale...down the road.

Ignite by Donna Grant is book 15 in her Dark Kings series. Ignite could be read as a standalone. For better understanding, yes there are cross-overs, I recommend to read the books in order.
Ignmite is V and Claire's book. The story picks up where the previous one was left off.
V is one of the dragon kings, a warrior and now he got his missing sword back. But somehow it changed and he needs help to discover what happened. And Calire, a human is the only one who seems can help him. He likes her, a lot and he wooes her. But evil powers have cruel plans for thses two. Enough spoiler-ish-ed.
Ignite is a full length, pnr, intense read . The story had me captivated fromn the start and kept me glued to the pages. Ignite contains just the right amount of drama, danger, evil, violence, love and HEA. The human female and the immortal warrior, a match made in Dreagon heaven. The book ends in kind of a cliffie and I can't wait to read what happens o Claire and V.

Vlad is not an easy dragon to get to know. Standoffish, aloof and distinctly unfriendly. Even knowing that Claire will be his fated mate doesn't make him any nicer. But slowly cracks start to show and his inner child-like self looking for acceptance and love shines through. Getting to that point is not simple - danger and strife lurks with mysteries and illusions surrounding the truth. Would definitely recommend reading Dragonfire first as that story provides background to Vlad that is assumed in this story.

Well happily we finally find out who is writing the dating blog. I think everyone will be really happy to find out who it is. At one point in the blog writing, she described me to a tee, so that was fun to see that there are others like me even if it's in a book. V finally gets his turn and it's a great story to read about. Everyone is gearing up for war with the evil one. I swear she gets crazier each book shes in. I can't wait until shes taken down. This book does leave on a cliffhanger so get ready for that. I'll just have to wait not patiently for the next book to come out.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

Yeah, I got the ARC like a month before the book was suppose to be out, yet I just read it like two days before the book was to be released... i must say it was worth it.

This one is V's story. Frankly, from the number of times we have read about him, i never thought that he would have such a explosive and risky story. He already suffered too much from losing his sword and The Others messing with his memories, but the curve ball that Ms. Grant created was something i was expecting from another Kings, but not him.

Still it does not diminished the fact that it was one of those stories that will bring smile, and tears to your eyes. The fight scene was not there, and I for one, is glad about it.

From how the story line is progressing, I am guessing the nest book,~ whether it is a Reaper or a Kings book~ we will have the usual blood shed.

As for Claire...I need to go back to Darius and Sophie's book to recall what happen to her. Yes, I do that...There were some clues on the first part of the book that made me smile and when she told V something important, I was happy that my hunch was right.

UB*** need to be dealt with. LIKE NOW!!!

She has cause too much havoc. Rhi's father is...not will not go there, not yet. Death? Wow, i like her, but i wonder what will be the next for the Reapers.

The King of the Dark, ~ can't really spell his name with out murdering it~ I hope that he can have his HEA, he need it was much as what happened to Ulrik. Then again, how and which world will his true mate be? Thinking about him, makes me cry. I can feel how much he loves Rhi, and yet, Rhi tries so hard...

As for Con, if he can only let someone carry some of the burden he has maybe be wont be like that, but alas, he is as stubborn as the rest of the Kings. Although, the mated ones are far more different that it was before.

Donna Grant gave us another book to add to our growing pile. And I know, once the whole Dark Series is done, I will definitely read the books again. Each book is filled with respect, friendship, hardship, and whole lot of fighting, but behind all of that, it teaches us that LOVE will always be the greatest treasure a person could have. It does not matter if it is brotherly, nor friendship, nor mate love. Once you are love, you know that you are never alone.

And that everyone, is what Donna has done to the books that she has written. With each book, with each story, she is telling us that we are loved.

Dragon King V must reconcile his quest with feelings for Claire . The latest in Dark Kings series continues the tale with excellent characters and story line .

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Ignite by Donna Grant is book 15 in the Dark Kings Series. This is the story of Claire and Vlad 'V'. I have been jumping in and out of this series which haven't been to much of an issue but there is a underlining story that I think would have helped me along the way.
V is attracted to Claire from the start but she is human and he of course is not, so that puts doubts in him. They end up helping each other while their feelings start growing into more that neither can walk away from. Of course there is danger and doubts but for me this was a page turner that is very hard to put down.
I Love Ms. Grant's writing, she weaves a story where you feel that you are a part of it.

It's book fifteen of the long going series. There will be sex, bad words, magic, and magical creatures. If that offends you please don't read the book!
Ignite is a story of V and Cassie. I really enjoyed those two as there was something between them from the start, yet it was untouchable for quite some time. I really liked that V wasn't cornering Cassie like some caveman but gave her time.
What will happen to those two? Cassie will forget V when she learns the truth about him - can he risk it?
A good piece of PNR romance to sum up.

Ignite by Donna Grant
Dark Kings #15

Donna Grant has created a world that makes her readers want to return, find out what is happening next and then they eagerly await the next book in the series. The only series I have read all of, so far, is The Reapers and having read each and every one of those books I KNOW it well. Sure, some of the other worlds/series/groups might have been mentioned and have impacted The Reapers but it was a group that was easy to follow beginning to end. That said...I did NOT read the other books in the overall series (and looking on Goodreads now I see there are perhaps nearly fifty books total in the overlapping worlds/series). So…

* Dark Swords Series: I have not read any of the books in this series so have not a clue what they are about.
* Dark Warriors Series: None of those either
* Druids Glen Series: Again...not one read by me
* Dark Kings: now five of the fifteen
* Reapers: all of them

Now...it seems, after reading what I have read, this “world” is one populated by beings that are very interesting. They have their own myths and histories that sometimes overlap and create opportunities for interaction. A dragon might sleep for centuries then wake, find a mate and then the two will live happily for centuries together. Or, Druids might supposedly be all gone from the earth...or are they? And, there are light and dark Fae/fairies that impact humans and the rest of the universe(s). I have not a clue about the Warriors and Sword group so have no idea how they might (or might not) fit into what is coming AND...something IS coming. There is a fight that is building and who will be involved and what is at stake is still a bit blurry in my mind. I know that there are “The Others” who are in opposition to the dragons and some others but what their goal is and how they will be thwarted is...a mystery. And so, still unsure what has happened before and wanting to know what will come next and hoping that some of the characters I know already (that have not found their mates) will find a HEA...I will gladly read whatever book comes my way to read in hopes it will lead me to a conclusion for the dragons and all the rest. I mean...wouldn’t it be grand if the dragons sent away all return someday?

And there I know I have lost you BECAUSE if you have not read any of these books you won’t have a clue what I am talking about because….

This is a series better read from beginning to end (although I have not).

This book DID have a short synopsis that I am sure those who have read all books in the series shook their head over and skimmed rapidly and those who have read none of the previous books read and then scratched their heads over wondering what they had missed.

And...in the midst of the few mentions of what is happening in this fantasy universe there was a romance. V did meet his mate, Claire, and they had a great romance indeed. They do have a few issues to deal with related to one being a dragon and one being human but otherwise...a great romance to read.

I do have a question I hope will be resolved...how will dragons continue if the ones sent away cannot come back or are dead AND if the dragon kings cannot find mates to create progeny for them.

Anyway…

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Do I want to read more in this series? Yes
Do I wish I had read the series from beginning to end? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the Arc – This is my honest review.

I'm late to this series, and I was lured into reading this by the 1001 Dark Night Series title, Dragon Fever. At the time I didn't realize that there were over 15 books in the Dark King series.
I was just in the mood for some dragons!

If you like your H with a lot of alpha and a good heart with a dash of self-sacrifice, Vlad is your dragon king. He's all about what is best for all the dragon kings, and he's considering going back to his mountain. That is, until he meets Claire.

Clair and V are drawn to each other, but V fights it or at least tries to as he reconciles his feelings for his brethren and his feelings for Claire until Claire finally pushes him to the brink. Claire and V's love story is engaging and it had me turning the pages.

I did find the intrigue involving the fae difficult to follow since I haven't read all the books in the series. I had the sense of what was going on but it wasn't the main attraction for me. It was really Claire and V's story that grabbed me.

An ARC is provided for review

This book is spicy! This is my first book by Donna Grant and I will definitely be seeking out her other novels for my library. This book has the right amount of action and romance. What else is needed in a book? The cover is gorgeous and is similar, and keeps the flow going with her other book covers that I’ve seen.

I learned about this book via email. Someone from St. Martin's would send me an email once in a while giving me a Netgalley link of a book I can just download without requesting. I actually don't know why I'm suddenly in their list to notify about their books in Netgalley BUT I AM NOT COMPLAINING. That said, this is the second book by this author that I've got from them. I really liked the first one so when I got an email, I didn't think twice to download it, because I thought, even though this is book #15, it would be easy to read it. The first book I've read from this author was book #7 of another series and I didn't have a hard time reading it. I actually liked it. This time though, I think it's way better if I've read the previous books.

Sure, this is a standalone but the writing looked like it was trying to infodump everything that happened in previous books. If I read the other books, I would've appreciated it. But I didn't so for me, they're just infodumps and unnecessary to the plot of THIS book. I can't blame the author though coz she has to set the plot of the series too, but still, I can't bring myself to be interested.

The characters aren't helping as well. They're not as compelling as I expected them to be. They're just too mediocre for me. The plot of the romance is not something I like too. Insta-romance and unnecessary steamyness. I mean, I'm all for steamy sex and all the passion but the romance kinda lost to me, and all there is was the steam.

Still, I'm rating this 3 stars. Sounds generous since I haven't said a single compliment for this book. But I don't want to ruin the overall rating of this book just because I didn't read the previous ones. It's my fault. If I did read them, I know I'll rate this 3 stars so that's what I'm giving. :) :)

My method might not work for others but this is how I do it so..

I enjoyed the building relationship between V aka Vlad a dragon who has slept for a really long time and Claire who has secrets.

A War is coming and Con insists on doing it alone, however, that doesn't bode well for many of the dragon kings.

This book gives you action, betrayal? and scorching hot romance.
Dragon Kings, Light, and Dark Fae, and Others what more does a great paranormal book need? I enjoyed this story...

Action packed, Emotional and Dramatic do not even begin to describe fully this amazing adventure filled with so many heart pounding twists and exciting turns not to mention a steep yet thrilling cliff at the end...

It’s always a good time to return to Donna Grant’s Dark Kings world, and IGNITE was everything and more than I’d hoped for. Yet, I don’t know if this is a series that one can drop in on randomly without knowing some of the backgrounds of these amazing characters. IGNITE is a stunning story, and you’ll certainly be swept up into V (Vlad) and Claire’s romance adventure, so yes you could read it on its own, but I’d suggest trying to pick up some of the earlier books if you can for the whole story. Just my opinion. (Libraries now also offer e-books (well, many do) so if the cost is an issue on going back to the beginning there might be another solution)

IGNITE is packed full of intense action, strong language, and definitely sexual sizzle and more. I would definitely say this is an adult story. Although V has his sword, the abilities he needs are not coming forward and this Dark King is beyond frustrated. In previous stories we got a hint of the attraction between Claire and V. Now that’s going to come full circle as some good friends do a bit of matchmaking to bring these two together.

I don’t even know where to begin with the action, the mystery and the interwoven threads that show up in IGNITE. So, frankly, I’m not even going to try. Actually, all you really need from me is to know that I absolutely loved V and Claire’s story. It certainly brings storylines forward and gives us visits with old familiar friends and evil faces as well. The only thing I was not thrilled about was the fact that there is a cliffhanger-ish ending. There are lots of loose ends that, I’m assuming, will be dealt with in the next book, FEVER, but that’s not due out until Fall I believe so I’m left hanging on several fronts. Aside from that little detail — Loved this one and would not hesitate to recommend it to Paranormal Romance readers with the comment of you’ll enjoy this more if you’ve read most of the series up to now.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
