3.5 Stars Ignite is the fifteenth book in the Dark Kings and is V (Vlad) and Claire’s story. The dynamics of this story was very different to what I have previously read in this series but due to the characters I like the way it was expressed. I enjoyed the story and the characters and will await anxiously for the next book

Dragon King, V, is having a hard time adjusting to his new life and now he's uncertain about his attraction to the lovely Claire. She can hardly believe that the handsome and brooding V is interested in her because she has had lousy luck with men and dating. They are able to work on their attraction while the Dragon Kings, Rhi, and the Dark Faie unite and prepare to battle Usaeil. What will happen to the Dragon Kings and their human mates?

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.

Omg! I feel like every book in the Dragon King’s series keeps getting better and better! If you haven’t read any other previous books, go now and do it!
We finally get the full backstory picture of Vlad (known as V). He finally has his sword back but hasn’t been able to figure out why it isn’t working for him. Enter Claire. Of course we know she should be his mate. It just takes them both a hot minute to figure it out. Could she be the key to unlocking the magic of his sword?
I’m hoping the next book will bring the long awaited story of Con and the end of the war with Usaeil.
5 stars for V and Claire.

This is a series where you need to start from the beginning to really understand the big conflict that runs through all the books. You can definitely jump in and mostly get the gist of what's going on, but I think you'll miss some of the more subtle foreshadowing or history that way. If you're already invested in the series, then this is a solid read. It's a bit of a calmer or smaller story at first as you see V and Claire come together, but then you really get pushed back into the big series arc in the last few chapters.

First of all, let me say I have never read of the books within this series although I have read this author. I normally like her books and her level of description is fabulous. The same was true of this book. By the descriptions provided, I almost felt like I was with V and Claire as they stepped into their new relationship. V, hesitant since he was centuries old, and Claire, burned by relationships in her past, seemed made for each other. When V talked about how her smile lit up a room, I melted. I loved the chemistry between the two.

Unfortunately, since I hadn't read the rest of the books, I wasn't as heavily invested in the other characters as I should have been. It seemed like a great cast - but I had no idea who they were. I was able to follow the storyline based on descriptions and some back story provided. However, I think that I definitely would have been thrilled that certain characters appeared if I had known who they were. This definitely shouldn't be read as a standalone.

This is not a series I would suggest picking up in the middle or even choosing random books to start. Each book takes you a little bit closer to a huge battle I expect is to come. There are multiple enemies of the Dragon Kings and some who we thought were enemies, may not be. This series has been like putting a puzzle together. Each step reveals a piece to the overall bigger picture and yet still leaves you guessing.

Ignite is Claire and Vlad's story. V has been an unstable Dragon King for many years due to his sword being stolen. His sword allows only him to locate the dragons they sent away for safety many, many years ago. Con, the King of the Dragon Kings, was forced to send V to sleep in dragon form due to the havoc he was unknowingly unleashing on the humans and that has made it hard for V to adjust to current times now that he has his sword back.

V is realizing that his troubles aren't quite over yet. You get a bit of push and pull at first, between him and Claire due to those lingering affects. What V should have done was have more faith in what Claire could do for him to ease that. Claire has been a fun character to get to know but she is pretty desperate to find true love. After witnessing the love her best friend has with her own Dragon King, Claire is not willing to settle down.

While we get to see V and Claire's love come together in the end, we do get left with a huge cliffhanger for this series. I feel like the next book is when things are really going to ramp up with the Dragon Kings enemy. We still have some unknown mysteries about the Others as well. I'm really curious who the author will choose for her couple to focus on during this time.

Until the next book...

The next installment of dragon kings novel. As another dragon finds love, the plot thickens between Fae, and the others. The romance part in this case is stand alone, but the subplot of all the background twists and turns might be little hard to understand without reading previous dragon kings novel. Some are short and some are long, but most of the dragon kings novels are enjoyable. Still waiting to see what happens with Constantine, the king of dragon kings....his story has so far been rather illusive. If you like dragons, complex plot and a bit of steam, definitely pick this one up.

Even though the last 20% of the book was amazing, for the majority of the book, nothing actually happens until that point. It was all pretty much just V and Claire becoming a couple. Now don't me wrong. At the start, I really thought their relationship and how they were together was really sweet and cute. But the day after their first date they both became obsessed with the other to the point that they couldn't focus on anything else. And that really annoyed me.

So this isn't the first we learn of Claire. She made an appearance back in Darius's book because she's best friends with his mate, Sophie. That was book 8. Do I remember anything that happened to her there? NOT.A.THING. Did it matter to me? Nope. But because of what happened to her then, she has been carrying a huge secret around for years. She lied when she told everyone she didn't remember anything...She remembers everything. Which is why she was totally on board with moving out near Dreagon when Sophie wanted to open her own clinic. What safer place could there be than right next door to the dragon Kings? One problem I had with her is her obsession with makeup.

After everything in Iceland, V has his sword. Which should be a joyous thing. Except it won't work for him. And he's becoming increasingly frustrated with that. So much so that he's thinking about going back to his mountain for some sleep. Despite what all the other kings wish for him. But his brothers have been watching him, and it's obvious he has an interest in Claire. He just needs a little push to get there. One they happily provide.

I liked V and Claire together, I won't say they make a perfect couple, but they do work. This book had so many things in it that hit me hard because I could relate to them so much, and there was a lot about Claire I could relate to too. Just not the goddamn makeup thing. So I did enjoy these two getting closer. Their joy is thrown a vicious curve ball real fast though with a twist I didn't see coming. In fact, we get twist after twist after twist at the end. And oh my gawd does it have me chomping at the bit for the next book.

Things are really amping up between the Kings and Usaeil. Erith wants to stay out of it, but I'm really hoping that if things go really bad that she will send her Reapers to help. Her and Con have such a unique and great friendship, that I can't see her letting things happen to him if she can help it. Even Balladyn has made his decision on what he's going to do and is preparing his army. Rhi is done waiting as well and it's not until something happens to Con that the rest of the kings are done too. This book ends on a brutal cliff hanger in that regard.

I can't say enough just how happy I am that Ulrik is back at Dreagon. He knows Con like no other and, despite their past, he has his back like no other. He's back where he belongs and he'll do all he can to support and help Con.

And one last thing. I will admit to being super curious as to who the author of the dating blog was. It was, after all, super entertaining. But honestly I was a little let down about it when we find out who it is here. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I guess it wasn't this.

So can't wait for the next book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I genuinely liked the hero and heroine, and I wanted to be vested in the entire story. However, I found myself skimming the lengthy backstory about the war with the Fae, and was distracted by the occasional cameo chapter featuring a secondary character. I think the central relationship developed a little too quickly, and the author didn't focus enough on building momentum. This was a solid book, but did not sweep me away.

I have read a few of the Dark Kings series and I was anxiously waiting for this one as V is one of my favorites not that there has been a book featuring him but just from his back story. V finally has his sword but it doesn’t work and he has no idea why plus he’s been asleep off and on for years that he really has nothing of his own but he sees Claire and is enchanted by her.
Claire has no good luck with men or dating in fact she is so down on herself that she doesn’t expect more than one date. When V is asked to help at the clinic he doesn’t hesitate as Claire works there so when she ends up helping him they find they make a good team. When the day is over they grab a bite to eat and find they are very compatible but they both are carrying some pretty big secrets that may not have them work out.
Even if V is a dragon you can’t help but love his big heart and the care he takes with Claire even if a war is coming, I can’t wait for #16.

Title: Ignite
Author: Donna Grant
Genre: Fantasy Romance
**RECEIVED FREE COPY FOR HONEST REVIEW**
Well, I have got to say it took me a lot of effort to read this book; And, I love fantasy/shifter romance. The first problem is yes you could get away with reading this as a standalone but truthfully you need to read the other books in the series. By doing that you know all the characters good and bad as well as all the references to past events. Like the one in New York or Iceland. Our heroine Claire was in the attack in NY so it is good to know what is going on. Or why V lost his sword.
Ok, second, the story dragged on and on. Not sure if it was the writing style or the plot for this book in general. I mean Claire really has no personality. She is a Stepford Wife. The only thing that upsets her is not seeing V anymore. Gag. V was too wishy washy. One foot in, one foot out. Dude we aren't doing the hokey pokey here.
Now, when I was about halfway in things changed. It sped up. There was more drama and action. More sincere interactions. And I got into the book more.
The steam factor was ok: 3/5 stars
Story (ends on a cliffy): 3/5 stars
Characters: not my faves 3/5 stars
Overall: 3/5 stars

I read a few books from this series and I must say this one is the that I liked the least. Because I started something in the middle of the series I was glad that some things were revealed about the past of the dragons a bit more. What it bothered me was this stillness, lack of action. V has his sword back but he can't use it so he is thinking about going back to sleep until the spark with Clair is ignited and they start their love journey. I also wasn't very found about their insta-love. Especially Clair and her love life was so annoying it was like she just lived to find the One and nothing else mattered. She accepts him with all his flaws and it was like she read him, she knew always what he felt and thought. I was just waiting when will we find out that she is not human, but that didn't happen. What happened was bittersweet for them and I really hope that it works out in a positive way. We can see that the war is coming and I really hope we see the Ubitch dead. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

ARC received for review

This is the first one I want to give a three star rating to and not for the story itself. V(lad) and Claire (Sophie's BFF) and absolutely perfect for each other. I loved their romance as it grows and blossoms. Ulrik is now firmly in the like column. Plus both of her secrets....jaw drop on the second. All the other Kings and their mates are around to help and even push, so great. Then add in what UB!tch does - unbelievable.

So, why do I want to give it three stars....a @#$%&@%$*@%@ CLIFFY!!!!!! and the next book isn't due out till October....I'm still in shock that there's a cliffy, the first one in this series that I know of. I'm going to be stalking NetGalley ............... Is it there yet?

How bout now?

Other worlds, secret realms, dragons, fae and druids! What else could one want in a fantasy novel! I definitely did not expect to be so sucked in with this story as I am! I was worried when I realized that this is book 15 in a series but I can assure you that the writer has planned and crafted such an amazing world that you catch up pretty quickly! You are taken to different places and other characters have a voice but it’s to keep the story rolling so that you get the full scope of this world but ultimately the book is about V and Claire!

V is quiet, reserved and feels no connection to this world or his people! He’s fumbling through life and it isn’t until him and Claire stop fighting their attraction that V starts to feel like he has a purpose again! Their bond comes quickly and just in time for them to face one of the biggest fights neither saw coming!

I love this series. The characters and the unique world they reside completely pull the reader in. Each book gets better than the last as the plot that runs through the series gets more more involved. This series is a must read

Its finally the mysterious V's book!!

We have been teased with little snippets of this mysterious dragon for a few books now, and his book certainly didn't disappoint. He and Claire were perfect for each other their romance was sizzling but also sweet, and I loved the sneaky matchmaking that gave them that nudge that was needed.

There were some big things happening in this book there was one very big one (no spoilers sorry) that when you come to it you will be like OMG. I cant wait to see how Donna is going to develop this story line as it unfolds and I'm soooo excited about it!!!.

We finally learn who the mystery blog poster is if your a member of this authors group page you probably will already know, but I won't say who and spoil it for those who don't.

There are lots of twists and turns and the story flowed perfectly I didn't want it to end I always hate it getting to that last page call me greedy but I just want more of these dragons and fae and this wonderfully fantastical world this author has created and shared with us all.

After that ending though I need the next book now

Ubitch aka Usaeil just needs to be obliterated shes an awful hateful creature.

I'm looking forward to the next book

I enjoyed my visit to this world

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity of this ARC

Every time I finish one of these books I get so many feels. I’m excited to be one step closer to the big reveals but yet it’s one step closer to the end. So I’m all over the map.

I love these characters and I do hope they win the war. We’ve been working our way up to it but I feel as though this book was the last straw. No more waiting and seeing. Action needs to happen NOW.

Plus, we need to know who’s Rhi’s King is and who’s Con’s lover was. I have my predictions but I’m probably WAY off. So I’ll be over here dying of anticipation.

What a great book! The world of the Dragon Kings is alluring and filled with surprises. Claire is human with a deep attraction to V. Maneuvered into contact sparks leads to spiralling attraction. The world building is first class and the characters diverse and compelling. Scorching hot it is hard to put down. I received an advanced copy and freely leave this honest review.

Oh, things have heated up!!! The battle is literally around the corner and this one ends on a cliffhanger or sorts.  V has his sword back, but he has lost the ability to wield its magic.  Claire has kept a secret since moving with her best friend Sophie to Deeagan; she remembers everything from the battle against the Dark Fae, including the Dragon Kings, but she keeps the secrets and pretends to not remember any of it, afraid they will take her memories away.  V and Claire spend more and more time together, the Dragon Kings get together to play matchmakers for once, and the love that blooms is sweet and magical.  There are some major surprises in this one that I will not divulge. This one was just as good as all of the rest.  No major battles in this one, more like building for the big one against the Queen of the Light, which will hopefully happen in the next book, no major drama or struggles for the couple to overcome or survive, so this one is kind of like the calm before the storm.  So good and can't wait for more.

I loved this story and 'I'm happy I requested it because I discovered a fantastic series.
This book was great, I was hooked since the last pages and fell in love with the characters.
The world building is amazing and I look forward to read the other books in this series to travel again to this amazing universe.
It's the first book I read in this series and there were no problems in understanding the plot and the characters.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
