I'm not a huge fan of insta-love unless it feels 100% real, and it just didn't feel that way with the main characters in this book. The writing was sweet and pleasant, not too wordy, and it gets straight to the point. I just hoped for more character development. Overall a 2 Star read for me. Good book. Full of paranormal characters from the fae to dragons - the world built is intense and for a newbie to the series, daunting. Nevertheless a good romance novel that I enjoyed!

WOW!!! I loved Ignite by Donna Grant. What can I say but the stories just keep getting better. I liked V and Claire. The romance was fiery and the storyline was good.

What a fabulous treat this was! I thoroughly enjoyed this Donna Grant novel. I did not intend to finish this all in one sitting but that is just what I did. Well Done!!

Ignite by Donna Grant is the fifteenth book in the Dark Kings series. I would highly recommend reading the other books in the series before reading this book, because It gives a more understanding of the dark fantasy world Donna Grant has built. I liked this book, but it wasn't a favorite of mine. I felt that the romance between V & Claire took over the plot of this story. Nothing major happens that excited me, I was hoping for a dark gruesome battle that never happened.

In previous books we come to terms on how much pain and loss Vlad has suffered.
He has witnessed so much blood and death, myself as a reader couldn't wait for him to meet his match. But how he met Claire, kind of turned me off.

Ignite is a hot and sizzling romance of a treat but very little happened plot wise.

I can’t even begin to express how excited I was to read this book. My excitement grew when I saw that it was V and Claire’s story. I couldn’t wait to read Ignite. Ignite more than lived up to my expectations!!

I loved Claire, and I would read her chapters with a grin on my face. Her ups and downs with dating were amusing. I found myself laughing more during this book than I have in the other books that I reviewed. I did figure out one of her secrets. It wasn’t too hard. The other one, though, I was surprised.

I couldn’t get enough of V in this book. He was dealing with a lot at the beginning of the book. He couldn’t use his sword (and not that one, dirty mind!!!). Since he couldn’t use the sword, he couldn’t call the dragons home. He was starting to get depressed and was going back to sleep when he noticed Claire. I loved how he seesawed back and forth on dating her. In my head, during those scenes, I was yelling at him to “Just go for it!!“.

I loved the plotlines of Ignite. I couldn’t put the book down. It was so fast paced that I was afraid that it was going to burn itself out in spots. I liked that the author was able to juggle a few storylines without letting any lag happen. The storylines were V and Claire’s love story, the Others, and Usaeil’s scheming.

I was frustrated with the lack of information on the Others and why they existed. I wanted to know what they wanted to defeat the Dragon Kings. Hints were given but still. I want to know now! I am sure more will be revealed as this series (and the other series) continue.

I was so upset over what Usaeil did to V and Claire. My heart dropped, and yes, I started to cry. That wasn’t fair to them. I am hoping that Rhi can find her and end her. That will be a death that I will be happy to read.

The end of Ignite was interesting. Another of the Others came out of the shadows. Alliances were made. People disappeared. None of the storylines were wrapped up. All the questions I have about the Others are making me read the next book.

V and Claire had unbelievable chemistry. It sparked in every single scene that they had together. Their first sexual encounter (notice I didn’t say the first time they had sex) was nothing short of amazing. And let’s not forget the first time they had sex. Blazing hot!!

I would give Ignite an Adult rating. There is sex. There is violence. There is language. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

This story grabs you from the beginning and just holds on. I did not want to put this book down once I started reading, it is that captivating. V and Claire are an amazing couple and I loved seeing them find their love.

Okay..... so it is my fault for reading a book out of order in a series. Because of that I was confused for some of the story. I did enjoy it though, a typical quick love and a very well written book.

Requesting this story via NetGalley, I didn't expect it to be a part of a book franchise and was left disappointed with spoilers from previous editions. Furthermore I just couldn't connect with the characters Claire and V nor was I a big fan of their instant love which is a big no-no in my book. Ultimately I didn't find myself liking this as much as I hope and decide it's probably the best to drop it until I catch up with the rest of the series.

This book is hard for me to rate. The book is written very, very well, the story easily drew me in and the world building in this book is amazing. The hero and heroine were a great couple who I rooted for and loved learning more about, and the funny little twist(that isn't hard to guess but still fun) was a cute little bonus. Now after all that why am I having such a difficult time rating this book. Well like many other times before I read this book because it sounded very interesting and something right up my alley.....and this is not book one. Have I done this tons of times, yes and most of the time I just don't even pay attention that the book isn't the first in a series.

Well this time that bit me in the behind. Quite honestly I was lost a lot in this book. Theres so much that has happened before this book and so much back story and important things that happen before this book that I missed too much. As I read I did pick up some things but not enough to truly enjoy this book and comfortably be able to follow. This is sad(and again all my fault) because I really did enjoy this book and know had I actually stated with book one this book would be very highly rated and I'm sure a series I would want to keep up with.

So with myself completely in the blame here I still highly recommend this book if you start from book one. And I'm saying this without reading any other books from this series. However from reading this book I know that this book and this entire series is very much worth a read. Just don't make the mistake I made and start with this book. Theres so much in this storyline that just blew my mind with how much time and thought the author put into this series and all the intricate details. The love story is wonderful and very engaging, and all the characters really add so much to this story both past future characters yet to come. So if you've read this series, yes pick this book up. If you haven't read this series I say start from book one you won't regret it.

So happy to finally be able to read V's story! I have waited a long time for his story and, it was well worth the wait!
V is awake, finally has his sword back and, is back in Dreagan. The problem is that he is unable to use his sword and, seriously thinking about going back to his mountain again because, he sees no reason to be back if he is of no use to anyone. He meets Claire and, something happens. He knows she is human so, why should a dragon feel this unquenchable yearning for a human? Try though me might, the all consuming heat that is generated by the two of them is impossible to ignore. V also realizes that his sword is finally starting to connect with him again!
This as the war between the Dragons and the Dark Fae is about to start.
Claire and the other human Dragon mates are staying at the castle as Con, Rhy and V are attempting to figure out how to take down Usaeil!
Now, I have to wait 'til the next book to find out what happens with the war and, all the characters I have grown to love!

This is Book 15 in the Dragon King series. I’ve only read a couple of the books in this series and have to say that I really love them. But I think Vlad is my favorite of all the dragons. He’s been asleep in his mountains for so many years that he’s not used to being around people and just the thought of the new world and everything he doesn’t know about is so sad. He does know that he wants what the other Dragon Kings have and that’s the most important person in the world, their mate. So, he sets out to try to find one. He likes Claire so that’s where he’s going to start. Now Claire knows about the Dragon Kings but no one else knows that. And she also doesn’t have real good luck with men but she’s still a believer of love so keep looking for her #1. The chemistry between these two is so good. Also, the fun that they have together is what love is all about. There are surprises and bad things happening throughout the book, so you are entertained as you read. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press.

I loved everything and really can't get enough of the Dragon Kings and the mates. I loved the matchmaking that took place in this story and the sexy sex scenes, in each book there is something different.

A disappointing addition to the series…

This is the fifteenth book in the Dark Kings series.

For the first time in this series, this reader was disappointed in a Dark Kings story. The romance heavily overpowered the underlying storyline that crosses the books interspersed between chapters that were the blog postings of a serial dater’s mishaps, there is a reason for the postings which you learn 69% in. Considering this is the fifteenth book with so much going on in this fantasy world on the verge of war between species there was little forward movement and what there was wasn’t enough to satisfy.

We first learned much of the history of Vlad (aka V), Dragon King of the Copper dragons in the last book. Of all the kings V has spent most of his life since the dragons were sent away sleeping in his mountain. Each time he’s awakened he’s searched for his sword, the sword that opened the dragon bridge which was stolen from him along with the memories of it being stolen and bad things happened in the world when he searched. Each time V was brought back and sent to sleep away the centuries again until recently when with the Dragon King Roman his sword and his memories were regained in Iceland.

Happy to have the sword that is inherent to him, there is a problem. The sword doesn’t respond to V and he can’t use it to open the dragon bridge to check on those sent away. Having spent so much time asleep V feels displaced in today’s world deciding to return to his mountain soon to sleep. His brethren know he needs something to focus on so some of them decide to play matchmaker, there is a woman who has drawn V’s attention, though he won’t admit it, it’s been noticed.

As best friend to Sophie who is a medical doctor and mate to the Dragon King Darius, Claire, a nurse, works in the clinic in the town closest to Dreagan. She followed Sophie from Edinburgh and she’s kept a secret from her friend to remain close. Here is where this reader had an issue, she’s a pathetic heroine, a woman who pines away for “the one”. She can’t find happiness alone, she’s incomplete, unsatisfied with what she’s done with her life. She envies those who are a couple though she doesn’t begrudge them and she cries over her status often. This reader found it difficult to respect such a woman, it wasn’t until near the end of the story that something was found to like about her.

This reader wanted more in a partner for Vlad who had suffered so much. The use of the dating blog, which was amusing at first, lost its appeal with its abundance. Hopefully, this book will turn out to be an anomaly and the next book will provide the satisfaction this series normally delivers and gets back to the interesting underlying plot with more likable, stronger heroines.

Omg! This is what I’m talking about. I absolutely loved V and Claire together and while this didn’t progress the overarching storyline a ton, it focused on a key aspect of pnr, the r! Romance was front and center in this book.

Claire has been keeping a secret, she remembers everything about the time when she was with the dark and was resumed by the Kings. She continues to live her life (going on disastrous dates) and hasn’t said anything because she doesn’t want her memory erased.

V (aka Vlad) has slept more than any other King. This is because each time he awakes and cant find his sword, horrific things happen (war, plague, etc). This time he has his sword but can’t seem to find a way to wield its magic. The only thing taking his mind off his frustration is Claire.

Claire and V take up the majority of the storyline with a bit of Con, Rhi, Ubitch (🤣🤣), Reapers and others filling in the gaps to lead us to the final all out war! Can’t wait for th next installment (here’s hoping Henry finally gets at least a novella soon!)..

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
I grabbed this book off Netgalley because I saw I was about dragons and I love me some dragon paranormal. Needless to say, I was stunned to see this series was 15 books in!!! Like how did I miss this series??? Now I will say that because I didn’t know this book was part of a continuing series there were times I felt lost. If you are a fan of the series you will understand everything obviously but know going into this book midway through the series like me left confused at times.
Vlad and Claire…love this story. Claire is not having much luck with online dating. She refused to give up and will find love. Vlad on the other hand has been sleeping through time. When he awakes and they met it was a sweet story of baring your soul to the ones you love. Poor Claire has to deal with not only loving Vlad but being his queen.
There is a lot of talk about the impending war plus people are trying to start drama with all the kings and their mates….why do people have to be haters???
But honestly I would recommend reading the other books in the series because a much as I enjoyed this book, I would say you MUST read the others to fully understand and appreciate what is happening in this continued saga.

SO many questions answered in the 15TH book of the Dark Kings series! I loved this couple so much, and I was really happy when I saw that V was getting his own book. I have been looking forward to it, and the pairing of him with Claire was perfect. While the book also touched on other dramas happening in the Dark Kings and Reaper worlds, I was pleasantly surprised at how much focus remained on V and Claire. Normally I get about 75% on the main couple and 25% on other couples and key figures. This book definitely focused more on the main couple than previous books.

After finally getting his sword back after centuries without it, V is dismayed that he cannot actually use it. Concerned that he may be more of a threat than an asset to his fellow Kings, he plans to go to sleep again. In three weeks. But his plans are put to the test when he finally gets an opportunity to be with the woman who has haunted his thoughts ever since he met her - Sophie's friend, Claire. Claire's dating life has been basically nonexistent, a consistent string of poor choices in men and frustration that she will always be alone. She decides to throw caution to the wind and have a fling with the hot dragon king, even though she is hiding a secret. Several secrets, in fact. One being that she remembers that time that her and Sophie were taken by the Dark Fae. Every bit of it.

V, a.k.a. Vlad, was an awesome hero for this book! His struggle with his sword, his yearning for Claire, and his duty to his fellow dragons were constantly battling in his head. He had so many stressors that I was worried for him for a long time. Claire was the perfect mate for him, not only because she already knew about his dragon side, but also because she accepted him with his flaws and all. She helped him heal, and he helped her realize her inner strength and power. As individuals, they were inspiring and kind. As a couple, they were that and so much more. I almost wished the book was longer, just so I could see more of them. But I know that with Donna Grant's books, no couple ever goes away forever. I am sure we will see more of V and Claire again!

The saga continues in the Dark Kings series, and I am excited for Con and Rhi to get their book. Hopefully next? Pretty please?

IGNITE is the first book in this series by Donna Grant that I have read, though I have DragonFire on TBR. Maybe I should have read the other book before attempting to read IGNITE, by hindsight is 20/20 so they say. I found this story to be very interesting and confusing all at the same time. So, trying to navigate this world about these Dragon Kings is very impossible. I found IGNITE, to be slow at first then toward the middle of the book the tempo picked up slightly. The relationship between Vlad & Claire, intense and very well written. I can’t say too much on the battle since this is my first book in this series, but I can see the showdown between the Dragon Kings and Usaiel coming to ahead. I can recommend this title, but I would advise reading this series in order.

First I would like to say that Donna Grant NEVER disappoints!! This paranormal romance series has been really great since book one and Ignite was no exception. This is book 15 so of course it should be read in order. This book is filled with hott dragon men, steamy scenes, and some fun action! I won’t go into details because of how far along in the series it is, but if you are looking for a smooth and sexy paranormal romance, this series is for you!

So, what did I like about it?
I enjoy the way that Ms Grant tells her stories; the pace her plots develop, the characters she introduces us to and the fantasy world she creates. I’ve only read two books in this series (Heat - Dark Kings #12 and Dragonfire – Dark Kings #14) but I have quickly become captivated.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this story and the way that all of the characters were working together to try and solve it. I appreciated the various twists, turns, subterfuge and surprises that Ms Grant weaved into this paranormal romance story, not only with V (aka Vlad) and Claire's romance but within the other plot lines too.

I did enjoy that there are a few storylines running alongside the relationship and romance between our main couple, V and Claire; Vlad’s issue with using his newly found sword, the escalated threat from Usaeil, The Queen of the Light Fae plus the continuing mystery and threat from The Others – who are they, how will they strike next and what can the Dragon Kings do to protect themselves and vanquish them.

Having only read a couple of books in this series, I may be able to view characters differently than existing fans; what I'm enjoying is that we have different sorts of bad guys here; downright evil sods, misunderstood rogues, friends turned into enemies and bad-turned-good heroes. I love that, it keeps us readers on our toes. ;-) I appreciate an author who writes multidimensional characters that aren't good or bad but a multitude of greys.

Those who have read my reviews before will know that I definitely enjoy a story more deeply if the lead female character is intelligent, resilient and has plenty of gumption; I wasn’t disappointed here, Claire was all of these and more. In fact, Claire and V were both characters that I connected to; I was completely engaged in their story.Ignite made me chuckle out loud, wipe the odd tear from my eyes, had me on the edge of my seat with tension and gave me yummy flutters of arousal; in short - I was gripped from the first page to the last.

So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?

As you can tell by my rating, I did really enjoy this book but there were a couple of things that took the shine off for me.

Although I have read two of the previous books in this well established series, I was still prepared to encounter references to adventures from previous books that I hadn’t read and that some story-lines would continue through to subsequent books. Ms Grant does a good job of giving the relevant information within these pages about past events but I should warn newbie readers that a lot has happened in this series up until this point – a heck of a lot – and I feel that we miss that connection that existing fans would have built up. Ignite is a story that seems to progress existing story-lines rather than conclude any or start new ones.

My second niggle is about the ending; I felt as though there were too many cliffhangers by the final page which I found very frustrating – there were numerous unresolved issues and I was left with more questions than I could shake a stick at.

So, basically what I’m saying is...
I really enjoyed this book. It's got everything that I’m looking for in a great story; action, romance, passion, humour and enough titillation to keep me blushing on the bus. I couldn’t stop reading!

Due to some of the darker references, violence and sexual content, I’d recommend this book to adults who are not offended by scenes of this nature who are fans of relationship and romance stories with oodles of fire and passion.
