I have long believed in the power of self-kindness to instigate personal change and am delighted to find this book which explains why and how in beautiful detail. The author is really on to something here. The information and suggested changes are simple yet life changing!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a self help book with a difference. It's not a book that encourages you to bin all the ones you've read before, but allows you to build this into what you already do.
It's clear and well written, with no waffle that people won't and don't read: I find it comforting to be given a background about the author.

tl;dr: Kindness is transformational

This self-help book is unlike many, in that it starts from a position of kindness. This book is truly non-judgmental. I have read scores of changing habits books, some better than others. But, this book is the first that I felt didn't judge my failures (I realize books are inanimate). The author felt generous in her attitude. She made all the topics and advice relevant and approachable. Her approach is entirely feasible, start by being kind with yourself. Her approach also uses many visualizations such as mind mapping. Any visual thinker will be able to see the value in these exercises, and many who believe they aren't visual thinkers likely will also. I found this book invaluable, reading the book alone made me feel more capable of changing, and I have already begun finding ways to use her tools.
