When Matthew loses his wife and his son is in NICU, Annie is his son's nurse and their angel. As Annie cares for his son and helps him learn to care for Daniel, Matthew looks forward to their time together. Annie shines light into his world. As they draw closer together, Matthew doesn't want to lose her as new complications enter their lives. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntary given review. One of the reasons that I read and review books is to find new authors that I can enjoy. Lynn Shurr is another one that I am adding to my list. Annie is a warm, sweet and caring woman that I would love to have as a friend. Matthew is a professional football player trying to make sense of life in a new town and on a new team with a fragile newborn son. With Annie's extended family, there are also many interesting secondary characters. Interesting family dynamics enhance this story. I really like this book and recommend it.

The Heart of a Sinner is a sweet taste of family, love and one of my favorite places, New Orleans, Louisiana! I loved the heartwarming story of the Sinner football player, Matt Keaton, whose wife is killed and their child is born all in the same day. He is helped though this tragedy by a pediatric nurse, Annie Billodeaux. He and Annie fight for his son’s life while healing his own and they become closer through it all. I absolutely loved Ms. Shurr’s delightful descriptions of New Orleans, it’s lush landmarks, food and ambiance! Calling the football team, Sinners had me smiling from the beginning! I thought this book was a treasure and will have many readers enjoying the deep characters and engaging story! For all these reasons, I give this book 5 well-deserved stars!

An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

**I received a copy of The Heart of a Sinner from Net Galley and Wild Rose Press in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. **

The Heart of a Sinner by Lynn Shurr is the fifth book in her A Sinner's Legacy series. This is my first book and won't be my last because now I need to get the others so I can place the adults and siblings from previous books in the Billodeaux family. This is Annie and Matthew Keaton's story which is worth all five star and then some.

Annie Billodeaux receives little Daniel Keaton who has arrived three months early after his mother was killed by a stray bullet. As NICU nurse caring for him it's her TLC that will bring Matthew out of his grief and teach him how to care for his newborn son. Even his late wife's parents who's own grief leads to harsh words his mother-in-laws words lead to estrangement between them. When Danny can be released home it will be Annie Matthew will ask to care for his son while he shows the NOLA Sinners his running back skills. But will he figure out that Annie is already in love with him? When his sister-in-law Dre shows up how will he send her back home or give her a place to live with love and understanding?

Matthew Keaton is the newest member of The Sinner's football team and doesn't expect to lose his wife to a stray gang war bullet. Since he was adopted as a child he's willing to do what it takes to learn how to care and raise his preemie son. Even if it's against his late wife's family he looks forward to visits with Danny and soon starts to have feelings for Nurse Annie. But he'll have to deal with her twin sister Jude when it comes to convincing Annie that he loves her and the new addition of both Dre (Andrea) their soon to be child?

I loved the sense of family that Joe and Nell Billodeaux show all of the children and the men and women who marry into their loving family and look forward to more stories in the future.

The Heart Of A Sinner
By: Lynn Shurr

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

One very kind love-story!!!

First full disclosure this was my first book written by Ms, Shurr. Which means I started on book 5 in the Sinner’s Legacy book series. Even knowing I could have possibly enjoyed this book more knowing the characters in the first four books I can say the book stands alone perfectly.

The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: A tiny premature infant is delivered into the caring hands of NICU nurse, Annie Billodeaux. His father, Matthew Keaton,is the newly hired running back for the New Orleans Sinners football team. His mother is deceased, victim of a stray bullet fired in a gang war. Matt blames himself for having brought his wife to the city.
Annie's heart goes out to little Daniel and his suffering father. As she teaches Matt the ins and outs of the NICU and the handling of his child, her affection for both grows into a love she cannot confess so soon to the grief-stricken man.
Matt feels the pull of Annie's tenderness, but won't act on it out of respect for his wife's recent death. When Daniel is able to go home, how can Matt keep Annie near until the right time comes for him to voice his love for the Angel of the NICU?

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

Well-written ~ Character-driven ~ Sweet
tl; dr: Football player loses wife and son ends up in Neonatal ICU but finds love.

I have a bad addiction to Sports Romances, particularly strange as I could care less about sport. But, there is no guilt in reading what works. The sports romances usually come down into two camps: the playa-player tamed or the real love in hardship. This book is in the latter category. As it goes, this is definitely one of the better specimens of the subgenre. The characters are well-drawn, and most of the story is believable. There is a moment about 30 percent through where the slow-burn feels a bit too slow. But push through, it's worth it.
