Celeste Jones believes she has finally met the right man. Emerson(love the name) is sweet, smart and a cop. They have been together for a year.celeste is a first grade teacher and they don't live together so as not to give bad reputation, Emerson seems perfect but he always has to pull extra shifts when it comes time to meeting her family and she has yet to meet his.everything falls apart when Celeste catches Emerson in a major like and betrayl. Celeste goes to visit her sister Jenna in a small seaside town. I love small Sea side town romances.jenna runs an inn,a massage parlor and is a mother. I hated the ending I thought Celeste chose the wrong guy running off to him claiming more of a connection when they argued most of the time.i thought Celeste wasn't much better then Emerson with the way she acted.

Celeste Jones has plans for a perfect summer with her boyfriend (and hopefully soon-to-be fiancé)—until he dumps her to be with the woman he’s had on the side for months. Heartbroken and furious, Celeste resolves to move on. When the going gets tough, the tough…okay, the not-so-tough go to the beach.

As soon as school lets out for the summer, she waves goodbye to her first-graders, packs up her bikini and heads for Moonlight Harbor, where she knows her big sister, Jenna, will receive her with open arms. Jenna could probably use some help at the Driftwood Inn, and Celeste is happy to do chores around the place in exchange for a relaxing summer escape. She just needs something—or someone—to distract her from her troubles.

Finding The One can be tricky, and Jenna is determined to make sure Celeste gets it right this time around. Not that Jenna’s an expert. She’s still trying to sort out her own love life. But if both sisters listen to their hearts, eventually they’re bound to discover that life—and love—is good at the beach.

REVIEW

This isn't your typical love triangle book and I found that I really didn't hate it like I thought I would. In fact, I sort of loved it. It wasn't so OTT that I found it overdramatic. I found the storytelling to be there and that held up. It ended on a great note, so don't think that it was in any way a cliffy. This was an awesome story in my opinion.

I've never read a Sheila Roberts book before, so I was curious to try this one out. It IS #3 in a series, but I never felt lost (although I did feel curious about some of the events mentioned, especially the Christmas disaster, so I'll probably read the earlier books to check it out).

This book focuses on Celeste, who was cheated on by her boyfriend, and comes to the beach to help her sister Jenna with the Driftwood Inn and to recover. Celeste still wants to find "the one" and so is attracted to a man who in every way seems safe, but she's also attracted to the unsafe stranger in room 12.

I typically HATE love triangles, but this one didn't bother me a ton for some reason, especially because the resolution was so nice.

Oh I should mention, about 1/3 of the story was from the sister Jenna's point of view. I am not sure how I feel about those parts - I suspect I would have liked them more if I'd read the previous books, but they did give the story more breadth. I also loved the grandmother who is a firecracker and still bakes cookies and other treats for everyone.

I'd like to thank the publisher and netgalley for letting me read this book.

I’d like to thank Justine Sha, the publicist from HarperCollins/Harlequin for inviting me to read The Summer Retreat. This was the first book I’ve read by author Sheila Roberts and I really enjoyed it a lot! I would consider the genre to be a contemporary romance. It was such a fun read for me. I loved getting to know the characters and the small beach town of Moonlight Harbor. At the end after you finished the story the author goes on to introduce you to the rest of the members of the town and tells a little bit about each one of them. I have never seen this done before and I really liked that she did that. It makes me excited and eager to get my hands on her other books so as to continue reading about these characters and their lives. I’d like to thank both, author Sheila Roberts and NetGalley for the arc, and a special thank you to Justine Sha for introducing me to yet another great author.

I loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. The characters had depth and were relatable. The love stories developed over time and weren’t quite the super easy fluffy kind.

Celeste finds herself at the Driftwood Inn in Moonlight Harbor, where life is simple but fun after finding her boyfriend cheating on her. She is trying to take time to reflect on her past decisions. The town is filled to the brim with caring locals who are just a bit nosy! However, it's the best place to fix a broken heart. This is the third book in the series, but it's the first one that I've read. It's a standalone so you won't feel lost if you haven't read the two previous ones. It's a story with a solid storyline and great characters, wonderful backgrounds and a lovely plot. It was also good for some laughs! It's an easy summer read! Highly recommend!

I am sorry to say that I had to give up at 30% I had tried for many days to find my place in this story but it just never came along. There were too many peoples POV and so many characters to get your head around and I could already predict where this story was going. The characters just didn't have any wow qualities to grab my attention and make me want to stick with the book. I did find out as I was writing this review that this is book three of a series so that may explain all the character's in the beginning. This is an Author that I have not read before but I would give them ago again if the opportunity arises. I felt the book was all away finding pairing up all the single man in this small town with the eager single ladies.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Her sister is determined to find her a new man, and who could she trust more than the lcoal Pastor. Despite the attraction to one of the guests at the hotel, she ends up agreeing to marry Pastor Paul, but will she go through with the wedding.

Set in a great location in a close community full of characters.

3/5 stars

I enjoyed myself while reading this. while it wasn't too serious of a book, it did have enough substance as far as plot to keep me entertained. It was a quick and very easy read. perfect a read at the beach or something easy to get you out of a slump.

I enjoyed the light-hearted read, The Summer Retreat. It's about a summer of discovering if what we think is best for us, safe for us, is more important than following our heart. One sister, having been scorned by her boyfriend, seeks refuge in her family at the beachside resort they own. Together, they find comfort in each other's company and they also just might find love. Sheila Roberts is a great writer and I loved the characters in the book. Now that Celeste has sorted out her life, I am looking forward to reading Jenna's story.

An excellent read with some enjoyable characters, I really liked getting lost in this book! Loved the setting, enjoyed the story, and I would totally like to read the rest of the series. Just a fun book to immerse yourself in!

I thought this book was fantastic! Celeste is a teacher who is just trying to live a happy life with the perfect man. Unfortunately right before summer, she walks in on her "perfect" boyfriend, Emerson, with another woman. She decides it's time to get away and make a change. She decides to spend her summer with her sister, Jenna, in Moonlight Harbor. She plans to stay away from men, but plans change.

Celeste is such a relatable character, and her sister is so much fun. This story was a fun and relaxing read. Perfect for a beach day! I got lost in the story, and I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend you grabbing a copy for yourself!

Celeste couldn't wait to be married to her boyfriend until she found out he had someone on the side. Heading to her sister to help out at the Driftwood Inn and lick her wounds anything is better then wallowing in what she was dealing with. Now her sister is doing a bit of meddlings and trying to steer her sister to the right type of guy while Celeste is just trying to figure her life out. She doesn't seem to trust herself when it comes to the love department and is just looking to settle.

This was such a nice summery read, you can't help but just want to read this book at the beach. I loved getting to know the characters and seeing what Celest was dealing with. It was clear Celeste didnt trust her judgment and yet still seems to jump into situations and it made the book all the more enjoyable with the bit of drama and tension between characters. I loved getting to see how celestes summer was going after what she went though you can't help but hope for the best and choose sides to who she should choose. It was just such a nice contemporary book and I really enjoyed it. Perfect summer read!

This was a cute read in some parts, though it was the best buffer between my thrillers. Celeste was cheated on my her cop boyfriend, so she goes away for the summer to her sister's inn at the town on Moonlight Harbor, helping her out as a maid. There she meets 3 eligible men, and decides which one was more suitable and dates him.

My first read by Sheila Roberts, I liked the book in parts. There are many characters, each are charming. Small towns have their own busybodies and gossips. And it was quite a laugh to get to know them. This was was not just a romantic happily-ever-after kind of a book, but it was about relationships with sister, niece, aunt and her parrot, and a lost dog.

The book had many interesting scenes with Celeste, some like the lost bikini top made me laugh. I didn't even realize that it was part of a series as the book worked extremely well as  a standalone. The only niggle I felt that sometimes the writing felt a bit off, they didn't seem to work for the characters. The sister kept pushing Celeste toward one man deemed more suitable by her when she kept 2 men dangling. The emotions could have been well brought out. Celeste was a teacher, but some scenes made me feel she was too immature especially while supervising niece's driving.

Overall, I had fun reading it. It took me 2 hours of this afternoon to get cosy with tea and diet biscuits.

Celeste catches her boyfriend cheating on her.
She decides to spend the summer visiting her sister in the beach town where she lives.

What Celeste wasn’t counting on was her sister playing matchmaker.
Soon Celeste is meeting the eligible men in town.

She meets a cop, a pastor and a writer.
Ironically each of their jobs is working against them.

Celeste rules out the cop because her cheating ex was a cop.
She rules the writer out because he writes horror novels.
She rules out the preacher because she thinks he’ll hold her past against her.

The writer and the preacher both plead their cases. The preacher insists that we doesn’t judge Celeste. She decides that the preacher is the safe bet. She figures a man like him would never cheat. She assumes he’ll give her the life she wants. A loyal husband and children.

But Celeste can’t be herself around him. She thinks he’s judging her when she has a drink. She thinks the people in town won’t see her as worthy.

She can be herself around the writer but she thinks she can’t take a risk on him. She thinks he’s too much like the men she’s dated before. She doesn’t want to be impulsive and reckless. She wants to play it safe.

Now, I can honestly see being creeped out by someone who comes up with horror novels. But the preacher doesn’t like animals.

I thought Celeste’s sister had a lot of nerve pushing her towards the right choice when she herself was juggling two men. A bit hypocritical huh?

I like how the story ended but I wish the cop had been given more of a storyline. I thought he was in the running too. Given that this is a series, I’m guessing the cop is a love interest for someone in the next book.

I got to read an early ebook edition from NetGalley. Thanks!

The Summer Retreat is the third book in the Moonlight Harbor series, but the author gives the reader enough information for the book to stand alone.

After a sudden break-up with a boyfriend, Celeste decides to spend the summer helping her sister and aunt with their beach hotel.. We meet plenty of interesting and fun characters (and pets) as we watch Celeste contemplate her past relationships and assesses how to move forward. Who would you choose? The right man on paper or the right man in your heart? Many people will call this book a beach read, and it is perfect for that. But, it also has a great message and is written in a way that makes you nod your head while you laugh.

I am going to read the first two books in the series and look forward to any future installments.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin - MIRA for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I spent a great day on the beach reading this book. The characters were likeable, although I wanted Celeste to have another goal in life other than finding “the right man”. I have known people like Celeste though, so it was relatable. I enjoyed the story and it was a fun romance read. Many thanks to Harlequin-MIRA and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Having not read the first two books in this series, I found the book easy to follow anways, which is sometimes not the case. The characters are complex and well developed, and this book will make a great summer read.

I've been following this series from the start and love how it's set in my home state of Washington. Other Washingtonians will recognize the small town feel that Moonlight Harbor shares with some of the real Washington coastline towns in our state. One of the appeals of the series, at least for me, is that I'm reading the books so I can find out if Jenna (the main character from Books 1 and 2) ever makes up her mind about her two love interests. Unfortunately, Jenna's character development is put on the back burner in this book as most of the plot revolves around her sister Celeste. Celeste is helping out at Jenna's Driftwood Inn for the summer and gets to know some of the eligible bachelors in town since she has recently become single. You can't help but wonder how the two sisters can have so many love interests. Must be rough to be so beautiful that you have so many men falling in love with you at the same time! Unlike Jenna's slow moving relationships, Celeste's love story is much faster paced and does have resolution by the end of the book. I rated this book lower than other books in the series because Celeste's story was very predictable and unfortunately felt a little bit too rushed for me towards the final pages of the book. I struggled to see her making a connection with one of the men because of their very apparent differences and the other relationship worried me because of all of the bickering. Neither one of these issues, in my opinion, is a great way to start a relationship. Although this book frequently references characters and events from earlier in the series to catch up newbies, I think the reader would miss out on some important character and plot development if reading this book as a stand alone. The other two books are worth going back and reading first. Sheila Roberts has sprinkled her trademark humor throughout this book which makes for a fun and enjoyable read. I will definitely be reading the next installment and keeping my fingers crossed that some of my unanswered questions will finally be answered! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. All thoughts expressed in this review are my honest opinions of the book.
